The chemical adsorption method is most applied to natural gas demercuration devices, and common demercuration adsorbents comprise sulfur-loaded activated carbon, supported metal sulfides and metal oxides. The demercuration agent is usually filled in a demercuration tower, natural gas continuously passes through the demercuration tower to chemically react with the demercuration agent so as to remove mercury in the natural gas, and the demercuration agent needs to be replaced when the demercuration agent is saturated.

At present, natural gas demercuration devices by chemical adsorption methods at home and abroad generally adopt a single-tower adsorption process, because chemical reaction needs a certain time, when the device scale is large and the operation pressure is high, the method of reducing the space velocity by increasing the tower diameter to ensure the effective contact time is not economical, particularly, when the gas treatment amount is large and the mercury content in the raw gas is low (less than 1ug/Nm 3), the height of an adsorbent bed is required to be small and the adsorption sectional area is large, the height-diameter ratio of the adsorption tower at the moment is small (hamburger type) and the number is large, the system is not economical, the equipment arrangement is not reasonable, and the field space utilization rate is low.
