Technical Field

The present invention generally relates to a mattress. More particularly, the present invention relates to a mattress having excellent temperature regulation performance, transpiration performance, and moisture management performance so as to ensure high comfort of a user at rest.

Background

Most mattresses according to the known art have poor temperature conditioning properties.

In fact, when the ideal microclimate of the bed is changed, for example in hot or humid conditions, rest (in particular sleep) is disturbed; the body tends to sweat to cool in order to keep the body temperature at a constant level, which involves firstly the energy expenditure of the body of the user, but this aspect plays the opposite role for good rest.

At the same time, perspiration is likely to create a wet microclimate in the bed, particularly in the mattress, with direct problems such as unwanted thermal changes and long-term problems such as creating an unsanitary environment.

Disclosure of Invention

It is an object of the present invention to overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks and others by means of a mattress that is able to guarantee an optimal temperature regulation of the body of the user resting on the mattress.

Another object of the invention is to provide a mattress which allows to optimally manage the moisture generated by the perspiration of the body.

Another object of the invention is to provide a mattress which guarantees a high hygiene level and at the same time has anti-mite, anti-bacterial and anti-odour functions.

According to the invention, the above and other objects are achieved by a mattress suitable for ensuring thermoregulation and transpiration of the body of a user lying on said mattress, so as to guarantee a high comfort of the user at rest; the mattress according to the invention comprises an inner portion having a supporting function for the body of the user, and a cover structure arranged on an outer surface of said inner portion and adapted to be in contact with the body of the user.

In particular, the mattress according to the invention is characterized in that said coating structure comprises an intermediate fabric having an alveolar structure with transpiration properties and moisture absorption properties.

The presence of the fabric enables moisture to be absorbed by the surface of the mattress in contact with the user's body and transported towards the outermost peripheral portion of the mattress.

Advantageously, the thickness of the intermediate fabric may be greater than 2mm in order to obtain sufficient space to absorb the moisture due to perspiration of the user's body.

Further, the covering structure may include a spacer fabric interposed between the inner portion and the intermediate fabric; the spacer fabric is waterproof so as to isolate the interior of the mattress from moisture.

In this way, the hygienic condition of the mattress is guaranteed, even over a long period of time.

Advantageously, the covering structure may comprise a covering fabric, which is arranged on top of the intermediate fabric and has hygroscopic properties.

Thus, the cover fabric is the interface of the mattress and the user's body. The fabric ensures moisture absorption from the body of the user so that the intermediate fabric can manage moisture.

In order to improve the performance of absorption and transport of moisture, the coating structure may comprise at least one water-permeable micro-conduit.

Advantageously, the cover structure may comprise at least one longitudinal micro-duct extending in the cover structure in the direction of the maximum length of the mattress.

In this way, moisture may be absorbed in the central region of the mattress and carried towards the head and feet of the user.

Furthermore, the cover structure may comprise at least one transverse micro duct extending in the cover structure in the direction of the smallest length of the mattress, in order to transport moisture from the central portion of the mattress to the lateral regions where it is discharged to the outside.

The one or more transverse micro-ducts may be orthogonal to the one or more longitudinal micro-ducts in order to create a mesh and maximize the performance of moisture absorption and emission.

Advantageously, in order to ensure good comfort also in the case of low use temperatures, the covering structure may comprise at least one portion comprising a fleece fabric.

Drawings

Further characteristics and details of the invention will be better understood from the following description, provided by way of non-limiting example, and the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is an isometric illustration of a mattress according to the present invention; and

fig. 2 is a schematic, cross-sectional side view of a portion of the mattress of fig. 1.

Detailed Description

With reference to the figures, the reference numeral 10 designates a mattress comprising an inner portion 12 shaped like a parallelepiped and externally covered by a covering structure 14.

The function of the inner portion 12 is to support a user lying on the mattress. In fact, according to the known art, the inner portion has elastic-plastic properties and is made of polymer foam.

Obviously, the inner portion 12 may be produced by using another material, such as latex or another natural or artificial material. Alternatively, the inner part may be obtained by using a spring system.

The cover structure 14 is a multi-layer structure in that it comprises three layers of fabric laid on top of each other.

Specifically, the cover structure 14 includes an outer cover fabric 16, an intermediate fabric 18, and an inner spacer fabric 20.

The outer cover fabric 16 has excellent moisture absorption and breathability properties and ensures partial evaporation of moisture (i.e. perspiration of the body of the person lying on the mattress) and passage of moisture remaining inside the enclosing structure 14, in particular the intermediate fabric 18.

In this way, the outer surface of the cover fabric 16, i.e., the surface that may come into contact with the user's body, remains substantially dry.

The thickness of the intermediate fabric 18 is greater than 2mm, that is, greater than the thickness of the cover fabric 16 and the spacer fabric 20, because the intermediate fabric 18 has an alveolar structure (alveolarstructure) with specific transpiration characteristics.

The alveolar structure of the intermediate fabric 18 allows air and moisture (e.g., body perspiration) to pass through.

Because the intermediate fabric 18 covers all of the outer surface of the inner portion 12, the intermediate fabric 18 allows for the exchange of moisture between various portions of the outermost surface of the mattress.

Furthermore, the alveolar structure of the intermediate fabric 18 forms a cushion that increases comfort during rest.

The innermost spacer fabric 20 is impermeable to liquid and air. In other words, the spacer fabric 20 prevents moisture and air from entering the interior portion 12 of the mattress 10.

In this way, the mattress remains completely isolated even in its innermost portion and the support characteristics for a person lying on the mattress are maintained intact at all times.

Furthermore, inside the covering structure 14, precisely in the outer covering fabric 16, there are longitudinal micro-tubes 22 and transverse micro-tubes 24 on the surface of the mattress 10.

A longitudinal microcatheter 22 extends within the covering structure 14 from a head location to a foot location of the user.

The transverse microcatheter 24 extends orthogonally with respect to the longitudinal microcatheter 22, i.e., the transverse microcatheter traverses the structure from side to side.

The micro-conduits 22, 24 may be evenly distributed over the entire covering structure 14 of the mattress, or may be present only in certain specific areas of the covering structure.

In particular, the transverse microcatheters 24 are preferably present on the covering structure 14 over a region of greater contact of the user's body with the mattress, typically two or three. More particularly, with respect to a user lying in a supine position, in a first region there is a first set of transverse micro-ducts 24 at the level of the positions for the head and/or the shoulders and the back at the level of the chest, and in a second region there is a second set of transverse micro-ducts 24 at the level of the positions for the pelvis and the thighs. For example, in a single mattress, the lateral micro-ducts 24 may have an indicated number of 10 to 20 in each group, in order to ensure good comfort. Naturally, if there are two or more sets of transverse micro-conduits 24, these sets may have the same or different numbers of transverse micro-conduits 24. Furthermore, all transverse micro-ducts 24 in each group may be kept at equal distances from each other, or more preferably, at least one transverse micro-duct 24 is at a greater distance from a transverse micro-duct 24 on a side than between other transverse micro-ducts 24 belonging to the same group. The maximum distance between the transverse micro-ducts 24 is in the area corresponding to the least contact of the user's body with the mattress, i.e. the area of the user's thighs and head.

The number of micro-ducts 22, 24 may vary, not being limited by the purpose of the invention, and depends mainly on the size of the mattress and the comfort that is intended to be given to the user of the mattress. For example, the longitudinal microcatheter 22 in a single mattress may illustratively have a number of 6 to 10 in order to ensure good comfort. The longitudinal microcatheters 22 may be equally spaced from one another or may be divided into two or more groups. Further, the longitudinal microcatheters 22 may be at least partially parallel to one another or may at least partially follow a particular pattern.

The function of the longitudinal microcatheter 22 and the transverse microcatheter 24 is to absorb moisture, i.e., sweat, in the region of higher concentration and transport it to the region of lower concentration where sweat is released.

Thus, the longitudinal microcatheter 22 and the transverse microcatheter 24 are made of a breathable and permeable fabric so as to allow for the absorption or expulsion of moisture or sweat depending on the degree of moisture concentration within a given portion of the microcatheter of the longitudinal microcatheter 22 or the transverse microcatheter 24.

Thus, if the micro duct section is completely filled with sweat, the sweat will either be transported itself to the micro duct section with lower moisture or will be drained towards the outside of the mattress, provided that the moisture content in the adjacent covering fabric 16 is lower than the moisture content of said micro duct section.

In this way, moisture is transported from the area where it is initially warm, the moisture generating area, to other areas of the mattress, and thus to other areas of the user's body where the moisture is cool, thereby enabling cooling of the user's body itself.

Thus, the mattress 10 according to the invention allows to utilize the perspiration of the body and to use it for resting.

Body perspiration and moisture enter the enclosing structure 14 through the cover fabric 16, but do not penetrate the inner portion 12 of the mattress 10 and flow outwardly due to the presence of the spacer fabric 20.

Moisture does not enter the mattress but flows inside the intermediate fabric 18 and inside the longitudinal and transverse micro-ducts 22, 24.

Indeed, air and moisture may pass through the alveolar structure of the intermediate fabric 18, which even forms a cushion to improve comfort during rest.

More precisely, a portion of the perspiration evaporates in the cover textile 16 and the intermediate textile.

The other part is directed into the longitudinal microcatheter 22 and the transverse microcatheter 24, which longitudinal microcatheter 22 and transverse microcatheter 24 transport sweat from the high concentration region to the low concentration region over the entire surface of the mattress.

In this way, moisture is transported from the area of generation where it is initially warm to other body areas where the moisture is cool and reaching.

Furthermore, a portion of the perspiration is therefore reabsorbed by the user's skin as a cooling agent, so that the user's body consumes less energy for cooling, since there is in fact a recycling of the perspiration.

The very low energy consumption for thermoregulation of the living being results in a better quality of sleep and rest.

Moreover, the particular shape of the mattress 10 avoids the accumulation of mites and bacteria inside the mattress.

Essentially, the mattress according to the invention provides an excellent level of hygiene, both due to the absence of moisture inside the mattress and due to the anti-mite, anti-bacterial and anti-odour functions.

Thus, the mattress according to the invention is ideal for people performing sports, as it allows for better muscle and organ recovery.

Those skilled in the art may provide changes or modifications that are considered to be within the scope of the present invention.

For example, the covering structure 14 may include additional fabric layers that perform different functions.

For example, the covering structure 14 may comprise wool in order to ensure an optimal management of the body temperature of the user.

According to a variant of the invention, the innermost spacer fabric may be breathable while remaining liquid-tight.
