The acaricide containment strip according to claim 1 wherein in a preferred form of the invention the inside of the tubular compartment constituting the containment strip is of any geometric shape, the inlet (2) of one end is open and has an inlet channel (1) of less than 5mm and the inlet (3) of the other end is closed.

An acaricide containment strip as claimed in claim 1 or 2 wherein in a preferred form of the invention the containment strip is dimensioned to have a length of between 200mm and 440mm, a width of between 20mm and 70mm and a height of between 2mm and 4.5mm, the dimensional ranges including the endpoints.

An acaricide containment belt as claimed in any of claims 1 to 3 wherein in a preferred form of the invention, the acaricide stored in the containment belt is an organic acaricide; the organic acaricide comprises the following components: 2 to 20 wt% of oxalic acid having a molecular weight of 126.07, 2 to 20 wt% of distilled water, and 60 to 96 wt% of petrolatum, relative to the total weight of the composition, the weight ranges being inclusive.

Technical Field

The invention belongs to the field of veterinarians, and particularly relates to prevention and treatment of varroa mite diseases suffered by bees.

Background

At critical times, the life of bees depends on the product and the way in which it is applied, and also on the work of the bees on the ground vegetation.

There are several products for the treatment of varroa mites, which reflect the latest technology. The following are veterinary drugs, which are described by trade name and registration number in the Spanish drug and health products Agency (AEMPS).

Trade name, Apivar, AEMPS accession number 1283; trade name, Apitraz 500mg, AEMPS accession number 2782; the trade name, Amicel, registration number of AEMPS 3157; they are used together with plastic bands in the form of medicaments, the active ingredient being amitraz. The product name, Apist n, AEMPS registration number 2680, is applied together with a plastic belt, and the effective component is cyfluthrin; the product name is Checkmite, the registration number of AEMPS is 2737, the product is applied together with the plastic belt, and the effective component is Cumatbs; trade name, bavarol 3.6mg, AEMPS accession number 1713; tradename Polyvar 275mg, AEMPS accession number 3526; they are used together with plastic tapes and the active ingredient is flumethrin. The plastic strips with these products are placed in the hive between the most active combs where the applied active ingredients make the contact between the substance and the bees more complete, and the substance in the hive, when manipulated and organized, self-impregnates and receives a large chemical load, causing contamination of the product extracted from the hive.

The object of the present invention is to solve this problem by using a designed acaricide containing belt, avoiding the bees to come into contact with the acaricide.

The trade name, MAQS cido f Lo rmico 68.2mg, 3031, AEMPS registration number 3031; trade name, Ecoxal, AEMPS accession number 1749; the trade name, Varromerd, registered with the European drug administration under the registration number EIJ/2/16/203/001002; the effective components are formic acid and oxalic acid, and can be applied by contact and steam.

The directly applied acid is very aggressive.

Bees are generally considered to be unharmed. However, in practice their anatomy is very fragile, such as wings and balloons, which are configured to be lighter in flight, are necessary for their transportation of the collected substance, and their manufacture of beeswax, scent and directional glands. Thus, direct contact with the acid is very detrimental.

After having all these products and using them, varroa mites become increasingly toxic.

Therefore, the containment band with the injected acaricide is thus born, so that varroa mites, as many decades ago, are parasites that coexist harmoniously with bees.

Disclosure of Invention

The object of the present invention is to provide a new containing belt having various compartments and designed to contain acaricides and to remove mites without causing damage to the bees and without polluting the product extracted in the beehive.

The tubular compartments lie in parallel fashion in the same plane, transverse to the length of the containing belt. The interior of these tubular compartments can be square, rectangular, cylindrical, hexagonal or any other geometric shape and the inlets at both ends can be open, with an inlet passage of less than 5mm, so that bees cannot enter, while mites can enter the compartment containing the semi-solid acaricide and act by contact. Because no contact with bees occurs, the bees will not be harmed and poisoned, and the honey, pollen and other products extracted from the beehive will not be contaminated.

The acaricide containing belt has the size of 10mm-500mm in length, 10mm-400mm in width and 1mm-5mm in height, and the size range includes the end points.

The acaricide containing strip is intended to store permitted acaricide substances, in such a form that they can be conveniently applied, i.e. the substances described in the preferred form of the invention and also substances not present therein, with which they can be conveniently applied.

Preferably, in the present invention, the substance is an organic acaricide, which consists of: 2% -20% of oxalic acid with a molecular weight of 126.07, 2% -20% of distilled water and 60% -96% of vaseline, the weight ranges including the limits, relative to the total weight of the composition. The above three ingredients are mixed in such a way that the sum is 100%, step a) of heating vaseline to become liquid, step b) of mixing distilled water with oxalic acid at ambient temperature, step c) of adding the mixture in step b) to the vaseline kept in liquid state in step a), mixing, then injecting into each compartment of the containing band and adhering to the walls of the compartment and assuming a semi-solid texture.

Preferably, in the present invention, the interior of the tubular compartment constituting the containment band is square, rectangular, cylindrical, hexagonal and any other geometric shape. The inlet at one end is open, the inlet passage is less than 5mm, and the inlet at the other end is closed.

Preferably, in the present invention, the dimensions of the containment band are comprised between 200mm and 440mm in length, between 20mm and 70mm in width and between 2mm and 4.5mm in height, the dimensional ranges including the limits.

The present invention is used to address the disease that bees suffer for decades and have recently become intolerable due to mites.

Detailed Description

By way of example, the situation of a practical implementation of the containment band object of the present invention is shown.

Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of a containment belt with a compartment (4) in the shape of a square tube, the inlet (2) of one end being open and the inlet (3) of the other end being closed. In these compartments, a semi-solid acaricide is stored, which is composed of distilled water, oxalic acid and vaseline. Two containment belts are placed in the hive, one on each side of the brooding room. Mites can easily enter these compartments filled with acaricides, because the entrance channel (1) is less than 5mm, it is difficult for bees to enter the compartment shaped as a square tube.

Industrial applications

The containment band of the present invention will be made using suitable materials, for example: low density polyethylene or porous polypropylene.

The semi-solid acaricide will be placed in the compartment in a manner suitable for the characteristics of the present invention or by mechanical injection.
