Process for the preparation of a liquid-crystalline medium according to one or more of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that one or more compounds of the formula X are mixed with one or more compounds selected from the group of compounds of the formulae IIA to IIC and one or more compounds of this formula.

13. Use of a liquid-crystalline medium according to one or more of claims 1 to 11 in electro-optical displays.

14. Electro-optical display with active matrix addressing, characterized in that it contains a liquid-crystalline medium according to one or more of claims 1 to 11 as dielectric.
