1. A component of an article of footwear, comprising:

one or more fibers; and

a cured coating disposed on the one or more fibers, the cured coating comprising more than one pigment particle embedded in a matrix of a crosslinked polyurethane homopolymer or copolymer, or both.

2. The component of claim 1, wherein the cured coating is an elastomeric cured coating.

3. The component of claim 1 or 2, wherein the cross-linked polymer matrix comprises a cross-linked polyester polyurethane.

4. The component of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the one or more covered fibers comprise thermoplastic polyurethane fibers, thermoplastic polyamide fibers, thermoplastic polyester fibers, thermoplastic polyether fibers, thermoplastic polyolefin fibers, and any combination thereof.

5. The component of any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the one or more coated fibers comprise glass fibers, carbon fibers, boron fibers, and any combination thereof.

6. The component of any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein one or more of the coated fibers are present as a yarn, and the coating is disposed on an outer surface of the yarn.

7. The component of any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein one or more coated fibers are present as a textile and the coating is disposed on an outer surface of the textile.

8. The component of claim 6 or 7, wherein the component is a component of an upper for an article of footwear.

9. The component of any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the article is a composite component and one or more coated fibers are attached to a substrate and consolidated with a substantially transparent resin material.

10. The component of claim 9, wherein the substantially transparent resin material is a substantially transparent thermoplastic polyurethane resin material.

11. The component of claim 9, wherein the substantially transparent resin material is a substantially transparent cured epoxy material.

12. The component of claim 11, wherein the composite component is a plate for an article of footwear and at least one encased fiber is visible on or through a side of the plate configured to face a ground surface during use.

13. A method of manufacturing a component of an article of footwear, the method comprising:

disposing a coating composition onto one or more fibers, wherein the coating composition comprises a dispersion of an uncrosslinked polyurethane and pigment particles in a carrier; and

curing the coating composition on the one or more fibers, crosslinking the polyurethane to form a crosslinked polyurethane matrix, and forming a cured coating comprising more than one pigment particle embedded in the crosslinked polyurethane matrix.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the carrier is water or an aqueous solution.

15. The method of claim 13 or 14, wherein the coating composition comprises a thermally initiated crosslinker.

16. The method of any one of claims 13 to 15, wherein the disposing comprises spraying the coating composition onto the one or more fibers.

17. The method of any one of claims 13 to 16, wherein the method further comprises attaching the one or more fibers to a substrate prior to disposing the coating composition onto the one or more fibers.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the attaching comprises stitching or embroidering a fiber tow comprising one or more coated fibers to the substrate.

19. The method of any one of claims 13 to 17, wherein the method further comprises:

disposing a resinous material onto the one or more coated fibers, surrounding and consolidating the one or more coated fibers with a liquid resinous material; and

solidifying the resin material surrounding and consolidating the one or more coated fibers to form a composite part.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the liquid resin material comprises a liquid uncured epoxy material, and solidifying the resin material comprises curing the liquid uncured epoxy material and forming a substantially transparent solid cured epoxy material.
