Background

Commonly used effective contraceptive measures include: condoms, intrauterine contraceptive rings, various contraceptive medicines, sterilization operations and the like. Condoms and various types of contraceptives are used mostly for temporary contraception or short-term contraception. Long-term contraception is typically performed using an intrauterine contraceptive ring or sterilization procedure.

However, the intrauterine device is prone to cause female menorrhagia, abdominal pain, intrauterine adhesion and other complications, and the incidence rate is high. The operation of sterilization usually selects the operation of tubal ligation, which is not the first choice for women because of larger trauma and difficult abdominal pain. In recent years, salpingemphraxis has become accepted by people because of small trauma, convenient placement and few complications.

At present, the clinical measures for blocking the oviduct mainly comprise (1) implanting a device which is made of a metal coil and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers in the coil into the oviduct, and completely blocking the oviduct about 3 months after implantation; (2) firstly burning the intima of the interstitial part of the fallopian tube by using a radio frequency device, then implanting a medical silica gel plug with a hole at the intima, wherein the connective tissue of the interstitial part of the fallopian tube blocks the meshes of the silica gel plug in the repair process to play a role in blocking the fallopian tube; (3) injecting medical hardening agent into the interstitial part of the fallopian tube to block the fallopian tube so as to play a role in sterilization; (4) an occluding device, similar to a stent graft, is implanted within a fallopian tube.

Due to the physiological properties and the special morphology of the fallopian tubes, these non-expanding implant devices cannot fit tightly against the fallopian tube walls and are prone to displacement, resulting in occlusion failure. The design and the opening principle of the blocking device of the blood vessel-like covered stent are the same as those of the blood vessel stent, and the blocking stent can be ensured to be completely opened and attached to an oviduct only by using an expansion balloon to open the stent, but the technical complexity is increased. Because the stent is implanted in a small fallopian tube part, the expansion degree of the balloon must be strictly controlled, otherwise, over-expansion has the possibility of causing rupture of the fallopian tube, and the implantation risk is increased. If the stent is not balloon expanded, the stent may not be fully open, which, like those implanted devices that are not inflated, may not ensure complete occlusion of the fallopian tube and may be subject to migration leading to occlusion failure.
