a high voltage transformer that transforms voltages supplied through a primary side and a secondary side to apply current pulses to a driving device;

a bipolar pulse generator that applies a magnetization pulse and a main pulse to a connection line connected to a primary side of the high voltage transformer; and

a timing controller which controls a time difference between the application of the magnetization pulse and the application of the main pulse;

wherein the bipolar pulse generator comprises:

a magnetization pulse generating unit generating a magnetization pulse by using positive electricity; and

a main pulse generating unit for generating a negative pulse by using a negative electricity.

2. The modulator of claim 1, wherein

The magnetization pulse generating unit includes:

a first power supply that supplies power for the magnetization pulse;

a first capacitor that is charged by receiving positive electricity from a first power source and discharges the charged positive electricity;

a first diode connected to a connection position of the first capacitor and a first connection line; and

a first solid state switch connected between the first capacitor and the first diode and controlling an on/off state.

3. A modulator as claimed in claim 2, wherein

a second power supply that supplies power for the main pulse;

a second capacitor that receives negative electricity from the second power source to charge and discharges the charged negative electricity;

4. The modulator of claim 3,

a first diode connected to a negative power supply of the waveform control power supply and to a primary side of the independent transformer;

a first solid-state switch connected to a positive power supply of the waveform control power supply and to the first diode, and controlling an on/off state;

a second solid-state switch connected to a negative power supply of the waveform control power supply and controlling an on/off state; and

and a second diode connected to a positive power supply of the waveform control power supply and connected to an opposite side of the first diode from the primary side of the independent transformer.

12. The modulator of claim 11,

the unit module is composed of a full-bridge or forward conversion circuit structure and an independent transformer.

13. The modulator of claim 11,

with respect to the unit modules, it is possible to,

if the first solid-state switch and the second solid-state switch are set to the off state, the secondary-side voltage of the applied high voltage is reduced, and

a first capacitor receiving a positive voltage from a first power source to charge and discharging the charged positive voltage;

a first diode connected to a connection position of the first capacitor and the first connection line; and

a first solid-state switch connected between the first capacitor and the first diode and controlling an on/off state; and

a main pulse generating unit including a second power supply supplying power for a main pulse;

a second capacitor receiving a negative voltage from a second power source to charge and discharging the charged negative voltage;

a second solid-state switch connected to a position between the second capacitor and the second diode and the first solid-state switch, and controlling an on/off state; and

a second diode connected to the first diode and the second solid state switch and connected to the connection point location with a connection line.

18. A method for controlling the amplitude of current pulses of a modulator, comprising:

a step of applying a magnetization pulse having an opposite polarity to the main pulse by a bipolar pulse generator via a connection line connected to the primary side of the high voltage transformer;

a step of applying the magnetization pulse to a primary side and inducing a voltage to a secondary side of the high voltage transformer disposed adjacent to the primary side;

a step of applying a main pulse to the primary side through the connection line by the bipolar pulse generator corresponding to a predetermined time difference; and

a step of applying a main pulse to the primary side and causing a voltage of the main pulse to be induced to the secondary side to control an amplitude of the voltage.

19. The method for controlling the amplitude of current pulses according to claim 18,

the step of applying the magnetization pulse comprises:

a step of receiving a positive electric power from a first power supply that supplies the positive electric power for the magnetization pulse to charge a first capacitor;

a step of setting a first solid-state switch to an on state, the first solid-state switch being connected to a connection line and to a first capacitor and a primary side;

a step of generating a magnetization pulse when the first capacitor is discharged; and

a step of flowing the magnetization pulse only in one direction at the connection point position with a connection line connected to the primary side to apply the magnetization pulse to the primary side.

20. The method of controlling the amplitude of a current pulse of claim 19, wherein

The step of applying the main pulse to the primary side comprises:

a step of receiving a negative voltage from a second power source that supplies the negative voltage for the main pulse to charge a second capacitor;

a step of setting a second solid-state switch to an on state corresponding to a predetermined time difference, the second solid-state switch being connected to a connection line and to a second capacitor and a primary side;

a step of generating a main pulse when the second capacitor is discharged; and

a step of flowing the main pulse in only one direction at the connection point position with a connection line connected to the primary side to apply the main pulse to the primary side.

21. A method of controlling the amplitude of a current pulse as claimed in claim 20, wherein

If the main pulse is directly applied to the primary side after the magnetization pulse is applied, the magnitude of the voltage induced to the secondary side is maximized, and

as the predetermined time difference increases, the magnitude of the voltage induced to the secondary side decreases.

22. The method for controlling the amplitude of the current pulses of claim 18, further comprising

a step of scheduling on/off setting timings of solid-state switches in the pulse waveform controller on the timing controller based on the input condition;

controlling the on/off state of the solid-state switch according to the set schedule;

a step of decreasing/increasing a voltage by a pulse waveform power supply connected to a solid-state switch according to an on/off state of the solid-state switch applied to a secondary side of a high voltage transformer; and

and a step of adjusting a waveform of the high-voltage current pulse according to an amplitude of a voltage applied to a secondary side of the high-voltage transformer.

25. The method for controlling a waveform of a current pulse according to claim 24,

in the pulse waveform controller, the plurality of unit modules include:

a first solid-state switch connected to a positive power supply of the waveform control power supply and controlling an on/off state;

a second solid-state switch having one terminal connected to a negative power supply of the waveform control power supply and controlling an on/off state; and

a series arrangement of individual transformers that regulate the voltage on the secondary side of the high voltage transformer.

26. The waveform control method of current pulses according to claim 25,

in the step of scheduling the on/off setting timing of the solid-state switches,

if the first solid state switch and the second solid state switch are set to the off state, the magnitude of the applied current decreases,

if the first solid-state switch and the second solid-state switch are set to the on-state, the magnitude of the applied current increases, and

if only one of the first solid-state switch and the second solid-state switch is set to the on state, the magnitude of the applied current does not change.

27. The method for controlling a waveform of a current pulse according to claim 26,

in the step of adjusting the waveform of the current pulse,

if a waveform in which the voltage amplitude is adjusted is received from a plurality of unit modules coupled in series with the secondary side, the waveform of the voltage pulse is controlled by the sum of the applied waveforms from each unit module, and

the voltage waveform of 2(n +1) steps is controlled by n unit modules, where n is a natural number.

28. The method for controlling the waveform of the current pulse according to claim 24, further comprising:

a step of applying a magnetizing pulse to a primary side of a high voltage transformer from a bipolar pulse generator connected to the primary side of the high voltage transformer;

a step of applying a main pulse to a primary side of the high voltage transformer if a predetermined time elapses; and

a magnetizing pulse voltage and a main pulse voltage are applied to a secondary side of the high voltage transformer adjacent to a primary side.

29. The method for controlling a waveform of a current pulse according to claim 28,

in the step of receiving the condition,

the condition of the amplitude of the current pulse applied to the magnetron is input,

in the step of scheduling,

Background

(a) Field of the invention

A modulator for controlling current pulses and a method thereof are provided.

(b) Background of the invention

Typically, the modulator is used as a power supply to drive a high power pulsed radio frequency source (e.g., a magnetron or klystron).

In recent years, as a modulator of a high-voltage solid-state switch using an Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT), the limitation on the pulse length has been relaxed and the control of the pulse waveform has been improved as compared with a conventional line-type modulator.

However, unlike a klystron of high linearity, the magnetron has high nonlinearity. Due to this characteristic, when the magnetron is operated, a large variation occurs in the current value even if the voltage variation is small.

Therefore, control techniques are being studied to obtain a suitable pulse current amplitude or waveform of a highly nonlinear magnetron.

Korean patent No. 1773878 discloses a "magnetron controller for an electron accelerator".

The above information disclosed in this background section is only for enhancement of understanding of the background of the invention and therefore it may contain information that does not form the prior art that is already known in this country to a person of ordinary skill in the art.

Disclosure of Invention

Exemplary embodiments of the present invention are provided to independently and simultaneously implement a function of controlling the amplitude of a current pulse in real time and a function of controlling the waveform of a current pulse in a modulator driving a magnetron.

A modulator according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a high voltage transformer converting voltages supplied through the primary side and the secondary side to apply current pulses to the driving device; a bipolar pulse generator applying a magnetization pulse and a main pulse to a connection line connected to a primary side of the high voltage transformer; and a timing controller controlling a time difference between the application of the magnetization pulse and the application of the main pulse, wherein the bipolar pulse generator includes a magnetization pulse generating unit generating the magnetization pulse by using a positive electric (positive power), and a main pulse generating unit generating a negative pulse by using a negative electric (negative power).

A modulator according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a high voltage transformer converting voltages supplied through the primary side and the secondary side to apply current pulses to the driving device; a pulse waveform controller including a plurality of unit modules coupled in series with a secondary side of the high voltage transformer; and a timing controller adjusting on/off states of solid-state switches of the unit modules, wherein the unit modules include: an independent transformer for regulating a secondary side voltage of the high voltage transformer; a first diode connected to a negative power supply of the waveform control power supply and connected to a primary side of the independent transformer; a first solid-state switch connected to a positive power supply of the waveform control power supply and to the first diode, and controlling an on/off state; a second solid-state switch connected to a negative power supply of the waveform control power supply and controlling an on/off state; and a second diode connected to a positive power supply of the waveform control power supply and connected to an opposite side of the first diode from the primary side of the independent transformer.

A method of controlling an amplitude of a current pulse of a modulator according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a step of applying a magnetization pulse having an opposite polarity to the main pulse by a bipolar pulse generator via a connection line connected to the primary side of the high voltage transformer; a step of applying a magnetization pulse to the primary side and inducing a voltage to a secondary side of the high voltage transformer disposed adjacent to the primary side; a step of applying a main pulse to the primary side through the connection line by the bipolar pulse generator corresponding to a predetermined time difference; and a step of applying a main pulse to the primary side and sensing a voltage of the main pulse to the secondary side to control an amplitude of the voltage.

A method for controlling a waveform of a current pulse of a modulator according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a step of receiving a condition corresponding to a waveform of a current pulse applied to the driving device; a step of scheduling on/off state timings of solid-state switches in the pulse waveform controller on the timing controller based on the input condition; controlling the on/off state of the solid-state switch according to the set schedule; a step of decreasing/increasing a voltage by a pulse waveform power supply connected to the solid-state switch according to an on/off state of the solid-state switch to be applied to a secondary side of the high-voltage transformer; and a step of adjusting a waveform of the high-voltage current pulse in accordance with an amplitude of a voltage applied to the secondary side of the high-voltage transformer.

Exemplary embodiments of the present invention may freely change the amplitude or waveform of an electron beam or a laser beam in a radio frequency accelerator or a free electron laser using a magnetron as a radio frequency source.

Exemplary embodiments of the present invention allow for accurate measurements by accurately controlling the radio frequency output waveform even in radar.

Exemplary embodiments of the present invention may improve performance by controlling the pulse interval of a dual energy X-ray detection system or randomly generating a greater number of multi-pulses. Thus, by implementing new functionality, such as a multi-energy X-ray inspection system, search performance may be significantly improved.

Exemplary embodiments of the present invention are capable of selectively combining optimal electron beam energy and pulses to maximize the detection capabilities of radio frequency accelerator based X-ray scanners for non-destructive inspection.

Detailed Description

Exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings so that those skilled in the art can easily implement the present invention. As those skilled in the art will recognize, the described embodiments may be modified in various different ways, all without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention. The drawings and description are to be regarded as illustrative in nature, and not as restrictive. Like reference numerals refer to like elements throughout the specification. In the case of the well-known technology, a detailed description thereof will be omitted.

Furthermore, unless explicitly described to the contrary, the word "comprise", and variations such as "comprises" or "comprising", will be understood to imply the inclusion of stated elements but not the exclusion of any other elements.

Hereinafter, a modulator controlling current pulses, which can arbitrarily adjust the amplitude of current pulses or the waveform of current pulses in real time, is described with reference to fig. 1.

Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram illustrating a modulator for controlling current pulses according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As shown in fig. 1, a modulator 100 for controlling current pulses includes a bipolar pulse generator 110, a high voltage transformer 120, a pulse waveform controller 130, and a timing controller 140.

First, the bipolar pulse generator 110 applies a magnetization pulse and a main pulse to a connection line connected to the primary side of the high voltage transformer.

The pulse generator 110 includes a magnetization pulse unit for generating a magnetization pulse by using a positive electric charge and a main pulse generation unit for generating a negative pulse by using a negative electric charge.

In this case, the magnetization pulse generated by the bipolar pulse generator 110 has an opposite polarity and a different magnitude from the main pulse to improve the efficiency of the high voltage transformer 120. Further, the bipolar pulse generator 110 applies the generated magnetization pulse to the primary side of the high voltage transformer 120 before applying the main pulse.

Next, the high voltage transformer 120 applies a current pulse to the driving device 200 by transforming the voltages provided at the primary side and the secondary side.

Here, the driving device 200 represents a magnetron, but is not necessarily limited thereto.

In addition, the pulse waveform controller 130 includes at least one unit module coupled in series with the secondary side of the high voltage transformer 120.

The pulse waveform controller 130 may control the waveform of the current pulse by increasing or decreasing the voltage from the unit modules and applying the sum of the waveforms generated due to the increase/decrease of the voltage to the secondary side of the high voltage transformer 120. At this time, the voltage increasing/decreasing function of the unit modules is controlled by the timing controller 140.

Next, the timing controller 140 adjusts a time difference between the magnetization pulse applied to the bipolar pulse generator 110 and the main pulse, and controls on/off of solid-state switches in the unit blocks of the pulse waveform controller 130.

The timing controller 140 may schedule driving conditions of each of the bipolar pulse generator 110 and the pulse waveform controller 130 according to the amplitude of the current pulse received from the user or the waveform condition of the current pulse. At this time, the driving conditions include the timing and the time set for the on state of the solid-state switch and the timing and the time set for the off state of the solid-state switch, and may be set in consideration of an organic relationship between the plurality of solid-state switches.

In other words, the timing controller 140 controls the plurality of solid-state switches included in each bipolar pulse generator 110 and the plurality of solid-state switches included in the pulse waveform controller 130, respectively.

Here, the solid-state switch means an Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT). A solid state switch is a power device that combines a Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) and a Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT). The solid state switch has a high input impedance between the gate and emitter, making it easier to drive than a bipolar junction transistor, and it can flow much more current than a mosfet.

Meanwhile, according to an exemplary embodiment, the modulator 100 may optionally include a bipolar pulse generator 110 and a pulse waveform controller 130.

For example, in the case of the modulator 100 that controls only the amplitude of the current pulse, it may include the bipolar pulse generator 110, the high voltage transformer 120, and the timing controller 140, and in the case of the modulator 100 that controls only the waveform of the current pulse, it may include the pulse high voltage transformer 120, the pulse waveform controller 130, and the timing controller 140. The configuration and function of modulator 100 may be easily selected and designed by a user at a later time.

Next, a modulator for controlling the amplitude of current pulses by a bipolar pulse generator will be described with reference to fig. 2 and 3.

Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram illustrating a bipolar pulse generator controlling the amplitude of current pulses according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 3 is a schematic diagram illustrating a modulator coupling a plurality of bipolar pulse generators in parallel according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As shown in fig. 2, the bipolar pulse generator 110 is composed of a magnetization pulse generating unit 110a on one side and a main pulse generating unit 110b on the other side on the connection line of the high voltage transformer 120.

First, the magnetization pulse generating unit 110a includes a first power source (pre-magnetization PS) that supplies power for the magnetization pulse, and a first capacitor that receives positive electricity from the first power source (pre-magnetization PS) to charge and discharge the charged positive electricity. The magnetization pulse generating unit 110a includes a first diode connected to a connection position of the first capacitor and the connection line, and a first solid-state switch connected between the first capacitor and the first diode and controlling an on/off state.

The first diode of the magnetization pulse generating unit 110a controls the flow of current in the first capacitor direction, and the first solid-state switch controls the flow of current in the main pulse generating unit 110b arrangement direction.

The magnetization pulse generating unit 110a generates and applies the magnetization pulse as follows. The first capacitor is charged by receiving positive electricity from the first power supply (pre-magnetization PS) that supplies positive electricity for the magnetization pulse, and the first solid-state switch is set to an on state based on a control signal of the timing control unit 140. If the first capacitor generates a magnetization pulse having a positive characteristic when discharged, the generated magnetization pulse is applied to the primary side of the high voltage transformer 120.

On the other hand, the main pulse generating unit 110b includes a second power source (main PS) that supplies power for the main pulse, and a second capacitor that receives negative electricity from the second power source (main PS) to charge and discharges the charged negative electricity. Further, the main pulse generating unit 110b includes a second solid-state switch connected to the second capacitor and to the first solid-state switch to control the on/off state, and a second diode connected to the first diode and the second solid-state switch and connected to the connection line at the connection point position.

The second diode of the main pulse generating unit 110b controls a current flowing to the connection point of the connection line, and the second solid-state switch controls a current in the arrangement direction of the second capacitor.

The main pulse generating unit 110b generates and applies the main pulse as follows. If the second capacitor is charged by receiving negative electricity from the second power supply (main PS) supplying negative electricity to the main pulse, the second solid-state switch is set to the on state for a predetermined time difference. As described above, the predetermined time difference is received from the timing controller 140, and may be input from a user in advance, and scheduled and driven. In addition, if the second capacitor generates a main pulse having a negative characteristic when discharged, the generated main pulse is applied to the primary side of the high voltage transformer 120.

The process of generating and applying the magnetization pulse and the main pulse may be generated sequentially, and if the application of the magnetization pulse is ended, both the first solid-state switch and the second solid-state switch enter the off state. Further, the second solid-state switch is set to an on state by the timing controller 140, and then the bipolar pulse generator 110 generates a main pulse, and the generated main pulse is applied to the primary side of the high voltage transformer 120.

As such, the timing controller 140 controls the on/off timings of the first solid-state switch and the second solid-state switch, thereby controlling the time when the magnetization pulse is applied to the primary side, the time when the main pulse is applied to the primary side, and the time from the end of the application of the magnetization pulse to the application of the main pulse.

On the other hand, as shown in fig. 3, a plurality of bipolar pulse generators (110-1, …, 110-N, bipolar pulse generator subunit) may be connected to a high voltage transformer (HV transformer). In this case, each bipolar pulse generator may be coupled in parallel to a plurality of connection lines (a plurality of transmission lines) connected to the primary side of the high voltage transformer.

Here, the plurality of connection lines connected to the plurality of bipolar pulse generators 110-1 to 110-N and the primary side of the high voltage transformer 120 have the same impedance and length.

For example, the second capacitor C2 of each bipolar pulse generator 110-1 to 110-N is of the same value through the same impedance and the same length of the connecting line when generating and providing the main pulse (main PS).

Further, the first power source (pre-magnetization PS) and the second power source (main PS) of the plurality of bipolar pulse generators 110-1 to 110-N may be independently arranged with respect to the bipolar pulse generator 110 and connected to each of the magnetization pulse generating units and the main pulse generating units of the plurality of bipolar pulse generators 110-1 to 110-N.

When a plurality of bipolar pulse generators 110-1 to 110-N are configured, the timing controller 140 may control on/off of the timings of the first solid-state switch (IGBT driver 1) and the second solid-state switch (IGBT driver 2) in each bipolar pulse generator.

In detail, the timing controller 140 controls the time when the first solid-state switch and the second solid-state switch in the at least one bipolar pulse generator are turned on or off, thereby controlling the time when the magnetization pulse is applied to the primary side, the time when the main pulse is applied to the primary side, and the time from the end of the application of the magnetization pulse to the application of the main pulse.

Accordingly, since the time difference of applying the magnetization pulse and the main pulse to the primary side is controlled by the timing controller 140, the magnitude of the voltage induced to the secondary side of the high voltage transformer 120 can be controlled.

Next, changing the amplitude of the induced voltage of the high voltage transformer by applying the magnetization pulse and the main pulse is described with reference to fig. 4, 5A, 5B, and 5C.

Fig. 5A, 5B and 5C are exemplary views illustrating voltage amplitudes varied by a driving time difference of a bipolar pulse generator according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 6 is a schematic diagram illustrating a modulator for controlling a current pulse waveform according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As shown in FIG. 4, the bipolar pulse generator 110 is at TPDuring which a magnetization pulse (pre-magnetization) is generated to be applied to the high voltage transformer 120, and at TmDuring which a main pulse is generated to be applied to the high voltage transformer 120.

Accordingly, the magnetization pulse and the main pulse are sequentially applied to the primary side of the high voltage transformer 120 through the timing controller 140, and the magnitude of the voltage induced to the secondary side adjacent to the primary side is controlled.

FIGS. 5A, 5B and 5C show the magnitude of the voltage induced to the secondary side of high voltage transformer 120 as a function of the difference (T)BDelay).

Fig. 5A, 5B, and 5C show graphs of the variation in voltage amplitude measured from the high voltage transformer 120 in the case where the timing at which only the main pulse is applied to the primary side (primary winding) of the high voltage transformer 120 is different from the timing at which the application of the magnetization pulse is ended. Further, in fig. 5A, 5B, and 5C, a positive magnetization pulse (pre-magnetization pulse) and a negative main pulse (main pulse) are applied at a constant time and a constant amplitude, respectively, except that the timing of applying the main pulse is different.

Referring to fig. 5A, 5B and 5C, referring to the secondary side (secondary winding) of the high voltage transformer 120, it can be confirmed that after each constant-amplitude voltage is induced by the action of the magnetization pulse applied to the primary side (primary winding), the amplitude of the voltage starts to change from the time when the application of the magnetization pulse ends.

In other words, on the secondary side of the high voltage transformer 120, when the magnetization pulse application is ended, the voltage gradually decreases the magnitudes of the leakage inductance and the current capacitance.

Further, it was confirmed that the voltage amplitude starting at the induction time of the secondary side differs according to the difference in time when the main pulse is applied to the primary side (primary winding).

It was confirmed that, when applied by the difference, the amplitude of the voltage finally changes according to the change in the timing when the main pulse is applied by the difference.

In particular, as shown in fig. 5C, if the main pulse is directly applied after the application of the magnetization pulse is ended, the voltage induced to the secondary side of the high voltage transformer 120 may obtain the maximum voltage, and as shown in fig. 5A, if the time difference between the application of the magnetization pulse and the application of the main pulse is increased, the voltage amplitude may be obtained gradually decreased for a certain time.

As described above, by controlling the application timing of the magnetizing pulse and the main pulse, the magnitude of the voltage applied and induced to the high voltage transformer 120 is changed, thereby adjusting the magnitude of the current pulse finally supplied to the driving device.

Next, the configuration of controlling the current pulse waveform by the modulator including the pulse waveform controller is described in detail with reference to fig. 6 to 9.

Fig. 6 is a schematic diagram illustrating a modulator for controlling a waveform of a current pulse according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 7 is a schematic diagram illustrating a pulse waveform controller for controlling a waveform of a current pulse according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As shown in fig. 6, the modulator 100 may include a pulse waveform controller 130 disposed between a filament power supply (filament PS) and a high voltage transformer (HV transformer).

The pulse waveform controller 130 is composed of a plurality of unit modules each having a small independent transformer arranged in series with the secondary side of the high voltage transformer, thereby increasing and decreasing the voltage amplitude of the current pulse transmitted from the pulse generator to the load.

Pulse waveform controller 130 may include a plurality of unit modules 130a, 130b, and 130c, and fig. 6 and 7 show three unit modules, but current waveform controller 130 may include one or two unit modules or more than three unit modules.

In addition, a Pulse Flattening Circuit (PFC) may be implemented by the pulse waveform controller 130.

Next, timing controller 140 may adjust the on/off state of the solid state switches in pulse waveform controller 130 to control the magnitude of the voltage applied to high voltage transformer 120.

First, a plurality of unit modules constituting the pulse waveform controller 130 may have a form as shown in fig. 7.

As shown in fig. 7, the unit modules constituting the pulse waveform controller 130 are composed of independent transformers, solid-state switches, diodes, etc., and may include a common waveform control power source U2.

The unit module includes a first diode connected to a negative power supply of the waveform control power supply U2 and to a primary side of the independent transformer for controlling a voltage of a secondary side of the high voltage transformer, and a first solid state switch VT1 connected to a positive power supply of the waveform control power supply U2 and to the first diode to control an on/off state. Further, the unit module includes a second solid-state switch VT2 connected to the negative power supply of the waveform control power supply U2 and controlling the on/off state, and a second diode connected to the positive power supply of the waveform control power supply U2 and connected to the opposite side of the first diode of the primary side of the independent transformer. Here, the solid state switch may include diodes of opposite polarity coupled in parallel.

At this time, the first diode allows a current to flow in a direction in which the high voltage transformer secondary side is arranged, and the first high-order device switch passes the current in a reverse direction in which the high voltage transformer secondary side is arranged. The second diode allows current to flow in a direction in which the secondary side of the high voltage transformer is arranged, and the second solid state switch passes current in a reverse direction in which the secondary side of the high voltage transformer is arranged.

Such a cell module may be formed by a full bridge or forward converter circuit configuration and an independent transformer.

Each unit module may correct the current pulse in the form of a pulse having three values according to the on/off states of the first solid-state switch VT1 and the second solid-state switch VT 2.

130a of fig. 7 represents the current flow in the state where both the first solid-state switch VT1 and the second solid-state switch VT2 are predetermined to be in the off state.

If both the first solid state switch VT1 and the second solid state switch VT2 are set toIn an off state, a current flows in the current direction of the first diode and the second diode, and a positive voltage (+ E)W2/W1) may be added to the negative voltage on the secondary side of the high voltage transformer.

As a result, the value of the voltage decreases.

Therefore, the voltage of the secondary side to which the high voltage is applied decreases.

In contrast, as shown at 130b in fig. 7, in a state where the first solid-state switch VT1 is set to off and the second solid-state switch VT2 is set to on, current flows in the direction of the first diode and the direction of the second switch without an increase and change in voltage.

Likewise, even if the first solid state switch VT1 is set to on and the second solid state switch VT2 is set to off, the voltage does not increase and change.

Further, as in 130c of fig. 7, if both the first solid-state switch VT1 and the second solid-state switch VT2 are set to the on state, the current flows in the current direction of the first solid-state switch VT1 and the second solid-state switch VT2, and the negative voltage on the secondary side further increases (-E)W2/W1)。

As described above, one unit module may perform three types of correction in which the voltage of the current applied to the high voltage transformer 120 is increased or decreased by the on/off settings of the first solid-state switch and the second solid-state switch, or the voltage is constant.

When the pulse waveform controller 130 is composed of a plurality of unit blocks, since each unit block can perform three types of correction, in the case of having n unit blocks (n is a natural number), each unit block can be controlled by an arbitrary waveform composed of 2(n +1) steps.

On the other hand, the pulse waveform controller 130 may be configured as a second type.

Fig. 8 is a schematic diagram illustrating a second type of pulse waveform controller according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As shown in fig. 8, the unit modules (corrector subunit 1, corrector subunit 2, corrector subunit 3) included in the pulse waveform controller (corrector) may include four diodes, a first solid-state switch, and a second solid-state switch. In detail, as shown in fig. 7, in the pulse waveform controller 130 including the first diode and the second diode, a third diode connected to the first solid-state switch and sensing a current flowing in a direction opposite to that of the first solid-state switch and a fourth diode connected to the second solid-state switch and sensing a current flowing in a direction opposite to that of the second solid-state switch may be further included.

Here, the pulse generator 130 may have a unipolar or bipolar characteristic.

The secondary windings of all the unit modules may be coupled in series, and the total output voltage represents the sum of voltages generated by the unit modules.

Referring to fig. 9, a waveform of a current pulse increasing or decreasing a voltage according to pulse waveform controller 130 is described.

Fig. 9 is an exemplary view illustrating a configuration in which a current pulse waveform is controlled by a pulse waveform controller according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As shown in fig. 9, the pulse waveform of DR _ PG applied from the pulse generator is represented, and the on/off state of each solid-state switch of the three unit modules is represented.

For example, referring to the first and second solid state switches DR6 and DR1 of the first unit module, the first solid state switch DR6 is set to the on state from step 1 to step 6, and the second solid state switch DR1 is set to the on state only at step 6. Accordingly, the controlled waveform of the first unit module, in which the voltage is increased in the predetermined 0-segment when both the first and second solid state switches DR6 and DR1 are in the off state, and the voltage is applied in the predetermined segment 6 in the state where the first and second solid state switches DR6 and DR1 are in the on state, is output with U of the sub-unit 1W2The same is true.

Accordingly, the amplitude of the output voltage of the pulse waveform controller 130 may be slowly changed.

Therefore, the sum of the waveforms of the decrease/increase voltages (corrector output voltage Uco) may be finally applied from each unit module to the secondary side of the high voltage transformer 120 to control the waveform of the current pulse.

Next, a modulator including a bipolar pulse generator and a pulse waveform controller is described in detail with reference to fig. 10 and 11.

Fig. 10 is a schematic diagram illustrating a modulator for controlling a current pulse amplitude and a current pulse waveform according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 11 is an exemplary view illustrating a current pulse controlled by the modulator according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

As shown in fig. 10, the modulator 100 includes a bipolar pulse generator 110 that controls the amplitude of current pulses and a pulse waveform controller 130 that controls the waveform of the current pulses.

Each description about the bipolar pulse generator 110 and the pulse waveform controller 130 is the same as that in fig. 2 and 8, and thus the description is omitted.

Modulator 100 may receive conditions from a user corresponding to the amplitude and waveform of the current pulses to schedule a predetermined on/off of the timing of each solid state switch within bipolar pulse generator 110 and pulse waveform controller 130 by corresponding to the input conditions.

Here, the modulator 100 may receive a configuration for controlling any of a plurality of current pulses, for example, conditions for adjusting the amplitude, pulse width, and time interval between pulses of the plurality of current pulses by a user. The modulator 100 may be scheduled such that the magnetization pulse applied to the primary side and the main pulse time difference decrease as the amplitude of the input voltage increases based on the input condition.

The amplitude of the current pulse and the waveform of the current pulse can be controlled in real time by controlling each solid-state switch by scheduling of the timing controller 140.

In this case, the driving order of the bipolar pulse generator and the pulse waveform controller is not particularly limited.

Fig. 11A, 11B and 11C show an example in which the amplitude and shape of the high-voltage pulse current are adjusted based on a condition input by a user to be supplied to the magnetron of the driving apparatus.

Fig. 11A shows a case where the pulse output of two amplitudes is controlled at intervals of predetermined times T and T/2, and fig. 11B shows a case where the repetition period of the pulse output of the second amplitude is adjusted to be much faster than that in fig. 11A in the course of outputting the pulse of two amplitudes.

Further, fig. 11C shows a case where the pulse (multi-pulse) output having three or more different outputs is controlled at appropriate time intervals.

Since the interval between the plurality of pulses can be arbitrarily adjusted, various applications can be performed by the modulator 100. For example, if the modulator 100 of the present invention is applied to a dual energy container searcher (dual energy y c, taiinersearch) and the time interval between two pulses is controlled, since a search image generated with two pulses close to the time interval is almost at the same position every time, when image processing is performed in conjunction with two images, separate correction is not required. When X-rays of two or more energies are generated and used with a plurality of pulses, the kind of the object can be searched more accurately.

Accordingly, the modulator 100 can control the waveform of the current pulse to be supplied to the magnetron by controlling the amplitude of the current pulse at the time point when the magnetization pulse and the main pulse generated in the bipolar pulse generator 120 are applied to the primary side of the high voltage transformer 120, and increasing or decreasing the amplitude of the voltage by the pulse waveform controller 130.

The function of controlling the amplitude of the current pulse and the function of controlling the waveform of the current pulse can be selectively operated as needed, and can be simultaneously realized in real time.

While the invention has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be practical exemplary embodiments, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiments.

On the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications and equivalent arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
