1. A magnetic disk device is provided with:

a magnetic disk;

a first actuator that performs writing/reading of first data to the disk;

a second actuator that performs writing/reading of second data to the magnetic disk;

a first control unit that controls the first actuator; and

a second control section that controls the second actuator,

the first control unit and the second control unit are configured in the same manner.

2. The magnetic disk apparatus according to claim 1,

a buffer for storing write data received from outside,

the first control unit includes a first communication unit,

the second control unit includes a second communication unit,

the first control unit is configured to be capable of communicating with the second control unit via the first communication unit and the second communication unit,

the first control unit writes first data of the write data to the disk by the first actuator,

the first control unit transmits second data other than the first data among the write data to the second control unit via the first communication unit and the second communication unit,

the second control unit writes the second data to the magnetic disk by the second actuator.

3. The magnetic disk apparatus according to claim 2,

in case an indication to read data is received from the host,

the first control unit reads first data of read data to be read from the magnetic disk by the first actuator,

the second control unit reads second data other than the first data from the magnetic disk device via the second actuator,

the second control section transmits the second data to the first control section via the second communication section and the first communication section,

the first control unit transmits the first data and the second data to the host.

4. The magnetic disk apparatus according to claim 1,

the first control unit and the second control unit are respectively provided with a first setting unit configured to operate in a first operation mode and a second setting unit configured to operate in a second operation mode,

the first operation mode is an operation mode in which control of a main actuator of the first actuator and the second actuator is performed,

the second operation mode is an operation mode in which control of a sub-actuator of the first actuator and the second actuator is performed.

5. The magnetic disk apparatus according to claim 4,

the first control unit and the second control unit disable functions that are not required for the operation in the second operation mode when the second setting unit operates in the second operation mode.

6. The magnetic disk device according to claim 5,

the first control unit and the second control unit each include a third setting unit that sets an operation in a third operation mode in which reading and writing of data from and to the magnetic disk are performed by one actuator.

7. The magnetic disk apparatus according to claim 6,

the first setting unit, the second setting unit, and the third setting unit are set by input units provided in the first control unit and the second control unit, respectively.

8. The magnetic disk device according to claim 7,

the input section is an external terminal of the first control section and the second control section.

9. A data processing method of a magnetic disk apparatus, which is the data processing method of the magnetic disk apparatus according to claim 1,

the first control unit writes first data among write data received from outside to the magnetic disk via the first actuator,

the first control unit transmits second data other than the first data among the write data to the second control unit,

the second control unit writes the second data to the magnetic disk by the second actuator.

10. The data processing method of a magnetic disk apparatus according to claim 9,

in case an indication to read data is received from the host,

the first control unit reads first data of read data to be read from the magnetic disk by the first actuator,

the second control unit reads second data other than the first data from the magnetic disk device via the second actuator,

the second control section transmits the second data to the first control section,

the first control unit transmits the first data and the second data to the host.

Technical Field

Background

The following system is proposed in the field of magnetic disk devices.

The system includes two actuators for writing data to or reading data from a magnetic disk, and a control device for controlling the two actuators.

As described above, a technique of controlling two actuators in a magnetic disk apparatus is proposed. In the case of a conventional magnetic disk apparatus, one actuator is used, and therefore, one controller may be used, but in the case of a magnetic disk apparatus in which a plurality of actuators are provided, a controller for controlling each actuator needs to be provided.

Since the magnetic disk devices have different types, it is preferable to produce both the magnetic disk device corresponding to one actuator and the magnetic disk device corresponding to two actuators as specifications of the magnetic disk device. However, commercializing both parties results in increased costs. Here, it is conceivable to apply the control device for a magnetic disk device including two actuators to the control device for a magnetic disk device including one actuator. However, this method is wasteful since about half of the control device is not used. Since the price and power consumption of the control device tend to increase in proportion to the area, the cost of the control device of the magnetic disk device corresponding to one actuator increases when such a waste exists.

Disclosure of Invention

Embodiments of the present invention provide a magnetic disk device and a data processing method thereof capable of reducing the cost of a control device.

A magnetic disk device according to one embodiment includes a magnetic disk, a first actuator, a second actuator, a first control unit, and a second control unit. The first actuator performs writing/reading of first data to the disk. The second actuator performs writing/reading of second data to the magnetic disk. The first control unit controls the first actuator. The second control section controls the second actuator. The first control unit and the second control unit have the same configuration.
