1. Packaging unit (1) for hygiene articles, the packaging unit (1) being formed from a sheet of material having an inner surface (2) and an outer surface (3), the inner surface (2) comprising an edge zone (4), the sheet having at least one folding axis (5) dividing the sheet into a first region (7) and a second region (8), the sheet being foldable along the folding axis (5) such that the first region (7) and the second region (8) are in an overlapping configuration, characterized in that at least a part of the edge zone (4) is provided with a microencapsulated adhesive.

2. The packaging unit according to claim 1, wherein at least the edge region (4) of the first and second regions (7, 8) is provided with a microencapsulated adhesive.

3. The packaging unit according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the microencapsulated adhesive is applied over 10-50% of the area of the material sheet.

4. The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the microencapsulated adhesive is distributed over substantially the entire inner surface (2) of the material sheet.

5. The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein 0.1-30g/m2Is added to the sheet of material.

6. Packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said edge region (4) is provided with first sealing means for sealing said first (7) and second (8) regions.

7. The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first sealing means is selected from mechanical, thermal and adhesive.

8. The packaging unit according to claim 7, wherein the adhesive of the first sealing means is an adhesive having an adhesive strength between 0.3N and 3.5N.

9. The packaging unit according to claim 7, wherein the mechanical sealing means is selected from embossing, ultrasonic welding and hook and loop fasteners.

10. The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the packaging unit (1) is reclosable by means of the microencapsulated adhesive.

The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said sheet of material is substantially rectangular and comprises longitudinal edges, transverse edges and corners, wherein said edge regions (4') of said first (7) and second (2) regions of said sheet of material are arranged along said longitudinal edges.

12. The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the material sheet comprises lateral edge regions, and wherein at least a portion of one of the lateral edge regions (4 ") is provided with a microencapsulated adhesive.

The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the edge region (4) has an inner edge portion (10) and an outer edge portion (11), and at least one of the inner edge portion (10) and the inner edge portion (11) of the edge region (4) is provided with a microencapsulated adhesive and at least one of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge region is provided with a first sealing means.

14. The packaging unit according to claim 13, wherein the outer edge portion (11) of the edge region (4) is provided with a microencapsulated adhesive.

15. Packaging unit according to claim 13 or 14, wherein said inner edge portion (10) of said edge region (4) is provided with first sealing means.

16. The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the sheet has two folding axes, dividing the sheet into a first region (7), a second region (8) and a third region (9).

17. Packaging unit according to claim 16, wherein said sheet is folded along said folding axis so that said first (7), second (8) and third (9) regions are in an overlapping configuration.

18. The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the packaging unit is for individually wrapping absorbent articles.

19. The packaging unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the packaging unit encloses an absorbent article comprising at least a top sheet and a back sheet.

Method of forming a packaging unit (1) for hygiene articles, the packaging unit (1) being formed from a sheet of material having an inner surface (2) and an outer surface (3), the inner surface (2) comprising an edge region (4), the sheet having at least one folding axis (5), the folding axis (5) dividing the sheet into a first region (7) and a second region (8), the sheet being foldable along the folding axis (5) with the first region (7) and the second region (8) in an overlapping configuration, characterized by the step of providing a microencapsulated adhesive on at least a portion of the edge region (4).

21. A method according to claim 20, wherein the edge zone (4) is further provided with first sealing means for sealing the first and second zones.

22. The method of claim 20 or 21, wherein the first sealing means is selected from mechanical, thermal and adhesive.
