1. An apparatus for treating turf comprising:

a cylindrical rotor rotatable about an axis, the rotor having:

a first helical track portion having a first helical track extending in a first direction about the axis from a first end to a central portion of the rotor;

a second helical track portion having a second helical track extending in a second direction about the axis between a second end and the central portion of the rotor;

wherein each helical track portion comprises at least one helical track having a plurality of teeth disposed therealong.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first direction comprises a counterclockwise direction.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the second direction comprises a clockwise direction.

4. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein each helical track portion comprises four helical tracks.

5. An apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein each helical track comprises a substantially continuous structure rising from a surface of the rotor.

6. The apparatus of any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein each helical track comprises a series of discrete struts or struts.

7. The apparatus of any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein each helical track comprises a groove in a surface of the rotor.

8. An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the length of the first helical track portion is equal to the length of the second helical track portion.

9. The apparatus according to any of the preceding claims 1-8, wherein the length of the first spiral track portion is not equal to the length of the second spiral track portion.

10. An apparatus for processing turf, the apparatus comprising the device of any one of claims 1 to 9, the cylindrical rotor passing over and rotating relative to the turf to lift material from the turf.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, including height control means adapted to control the height of the rotor relative to the turf.

12. The apparatus of any one of claims 10 or 11, comprising a conveyor belt for removing the material lifted from the apparatus.

13. A method for treating turf comprising grass grown in a matrix, the method comprising: use of a device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 9 to remove weeds or other infections.
