Technical Field

The invention relates to a component of a stacked spark gap, wherein the stacked spark gap has a plurality of electrodes and an insulating element arranged between the electrodes, with: a first electrically conductive clamping element and a second electrically conductive clamping element, wherein the two clamping elements are arranged opposite one another on the end sides of the stacked spark gap; at least one connecting element, with which the two clamping elements are connected to one another; and a switch-on element for electrically switching on the stacked spark gap. The invention also relates to a device for fastening and contacting a stacked spark gap.

Background

Stacked spark gaps have been known per se from the prior art for many years, generally from the field of overvoltage protection. The stacked spark gaps form surge arresters which, when a threshold voltage is exceeded, which is generally higher than the operating voltage of the connected device in the case of device protection, but lower than the dielectric strength against the surge voltage of the device, can conduct within fractions of a second and thus discharge the resulting overvoltage. The stacked spark gap is composed of a plurality of electrodes and a plurality of insulators arranged between the respective electrodes, so that one insulator is present between each of the two electrodes, the insulator having an opening in the middle, so that the two electrodes form a spark gap. These electrodes are mostly constructed as graphite sheets, and these insulators are mostly realized as insulating films made of plastic.

In order to fasten the individual electrodes of a stacked spark gap, it is known to clamp the electrodes and the insulating element between two clamping elements, wherein the clamping elements are connected to one another by a connecting element.

Furthermore, it is known from the prior art that a plurality of stacked spark gaps are connected to one another in a star-shaped manner, also referred to as a Y-connection in the case of three stacked spark gaps. The stacked spark gaps are then connected to one another in such a way that all of the stacked spark gaps each merge into a respective terminal, i.e., at a star point, wherein the other terminal of each stacked spark gap is in each case used for external contacting. Between the two outer terminals, there are thus always two stacked spark gaps connected in series. This arrangement is used, for example, for protecting dc voltage systems, in particular for protecting photovoltaic systems.

In the overvoltage protection devices known to the applicant from practice, the stacked spark gaps are embedded in a plastic housing and are connected to one another by metal plates which pass transversely through guides in the plastic housing. A disadvantage of the known arrangement is that the tensile forces occurring in the event of an overvoltage must be absorbed by the housing, which leads to a tensioning. Furthermore, the number of individual electrodes of the stacked spark gap is limited by the size of the recess in the plastic housing into which the stacked spark gap is accommodated.

Disclosure of Invention

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a component of a stacked spark gap in which the above-mentioned disadvantages are at least largely eliminated.

In the assembly according to the invention as claimed in claim 1, this object is achieved in that first three stacked spark gaps are arranged side by side between two clamping elements. The stacked spark gaps are preferably also oriented parallel to one another. Furthermore, at least one of the connection elements is electrically conductive. Both the connecting element and the clamping elements connected to one another by the connecting element are electrically conductive, so that the two clamping elements are electrically connected to one another by the connecting element.

Each of the stacked spark gaps of the assembly according to the invention is connected in an electrically conductive manner to a respective contact element on the end side serving as the contact side. Furthermore, an insulator is arranged between the contact side of each stacked spark gap and the clamping element arranged on this contact side, so that the contact side of the stacked spark gap is electrically insulated from the assigned, i.e. adjacent, clamping element. The end face of each stacked spark gap opposite the contact side is electrically conductively connected to a clamping element arranged on this end face. Each stacked spark gap is thus connected to one clamping element in an electrically conductive manner and is arranged electrically insulated from the other clamping element, so that a total of three stacked spark gaps forms a star connection. In the assembly according to the invention, the intermediate potential, the star point, is thus formed by two clamping elements and at least one connecting element.

The component according to the invention thus unifies the mechanical fixing of the stacked spark gaps and the electrical contacting of the stacked spark gaps with each other in a star connection, i.e. a Y-connection, in a smart way. The individual stacked spark gaps are arranged, in particular clamped, between two clamping elements, and the two clamping elements are connected to one another by a connecting element, as a result of which flexibility is produced in a simple manner with regard to the number of electrodes and insulating elements of the stacked spark gaps, since the connecting element can be adjusted, if necessary, according to the length of the stacked spark gaps. In the event of an overvoltage, the tensile forces occurring are absorbed by the clamping element and the connecting element.

It is particularly advantageous for the user that not all three switching elements of the stacked spark gap are arranged on one side of the component. This arrangement is particularly advantageous as follows: i.e. two switch-on elements are located on one side of the assembly and one switch-on element is located on the opposite side of the assembly. A preferred design of the assembly according to the invention is therefore also characterized in that the stacked spark gaps are arranged between the clamping elements in such a way that the contact side of two stacked spark gaps faces the first clamping element and the contact side of the third stacked spark gap faces the second clamping element. The end sides of the two stacked spark gaps opposite the contact side are then electrically conductively connected to the second clamping element, and the end side of the third stacked spark gap opposite the contact side is then electrically conductively connected to the first clamping element. It is also particularly advantageous if the two outer stacked spark gaps are arranged identically. The intermediate stacked spark gap is therefore preferably a third stacked spark gap, which is electrically insulated from the first clamping element and is connected to the second clamping element in an electrically conductive manner via the end side opposite the contact side. In this way, the distance between two switching elements arranged on one side of the assembly can be kept as large as possible.

The insulating elements arranged between the contact side of the stacked spark gap and the clamping element can preferably each be realized by a separate insulating element. In particular, the insulating elements can be individual insulating plates, for example made of plastic. In order to reduce the assembly effort considerably, however, in a very particularly advantageous design of the assembly according to the invention, in which the two connection sides of the two stacked spark gaps face the first clamping element and the one connection side of one stacked spark gap faces the second clamping element, provision is first made for the two insulators between the first clamping element and the stacked spark gaps to be implemented as a common insulator element. The assembly according to the invention is characterized in that an insulating element is arranged on the side of the clamping element facing the end sides, wherein a recess is formed in the first insulating element, by means of which recess the end side of one stacked spark gap is connected to the first clamping element, and wherein two recesses are formed in the second insulating element, by means of which recesses the end sides of two other stacked spark gaps are connected to the second clamping element.

This makes it possible to mount the assembly particularly easily.

Furthermore, the insulating element is preferably designed in a frame-like manner, wherein the outer contour of the insulating element is adapted to the outer contour of the clamping element. In addition, the insulating element preferably projects beyond the clamping element at the edge at least partially.

In order to bring the stacked spark gap into electrically conductive contact with the clamping element at the end face in a particularly elegant manner, in a preferred embodiment of the assembly according to the invention, a contact element is arranged in each case on the end face of the stacked spark gap which is electrically conductively connected to the clamping element. The contact element is electrically conductively connected to an adjacent electrode of the stacked spark gap. The adjacent electrode is here the terminal electrode of the stacked spark gap. The contact elements are then also connected to the corresponding clamping elements.

The contacting is preferably carried out in a particularly simple manner by purely press-contacting, i.e. in the following manner: i.e. clamping the stacked spark gap between the clamping elements.

If the insulating element is provided with recesses, it is further preferred to arrange contact elements in these recesses. In particular, the contact element terminates flush with the insulating element on the side facing the stacked spark gap or protrudes beyond the insulating element.

As already mentioned, on the switch-on side of each stacked spark gap, a switch-on element is arranged for contacting the stacked spark gap. In one embodiment, the contact elements each have a contact region and a contact region. Each contact element is then electrically conductively connected by its contact region to the adjacent electrode of the stacked spark gap.

In a further preferred embodiment of the assembly according to the invention, the contact region of each contact element extends through a respective opening in the insulating part to the side of the clamping element facing away from the stacked spark gap. In this case, the contact area or the contact element does not touch the clamping element. This can preferably be ensured in that the insulating element extends in the region of the opening and in particular covers the outer edge (umandung) of the opening. In the design of the insulating elements to form the insulating elements, openings are formed in the insulating elements.

According to the invention, the two clamping elements are connected to one another by at least one connecting element. In order to further improve the stability of the assembly, it is provided in a preferred embodiment that the two clamping elements are connected to one another by a plurality of connecting elements. It is sufficient for the mode of operation of the assembly according to the invention that one of the connecting elements is electrically conductive, so that the two clamping elements are then electrically connected to one another. However, it is preferred that a plurality of, in particular all, connecting elements are electrically conductive. The connecting element is further preferably configured as a screw or bolt. Furthermore, recesses are formed in the clamping element and/or the insulating element, through which the connecting element extends at least partially.

In addition to the components of the stacked spark gap, the invention also relates to a device for fastening and contacting the stacked spark gap. The device has a first electrically conductive clamping element and a second electrically conductive clamping element, between which a stacked spark gap formed by a plurality of electrodes and insulating elements can be clamped. The two clamping elements are correspondingly arranged opposite one another. Furthermore, the clamping elements are connected to one another by connecting elements.

According to the invention, it is now provided that the clamping elements are designed in such a way that three stacked spark gaps can be positioned side by side between two clamping elements, to be precise with the end faces of the stacked spark gaps facing the clamping elements. Preferably, the stacked spark gaps are positioned parallel to each other between the clamping elements. The clamping elements are connected to each other by means of a connecting element, which is electrically conductive. Since the clamping elements are also electrically conductive, this results in the two clamping elements being electrically conductively connected to one another by the connecting element.

Two insulating parts are also arranged on the first clamping element of the device according to the invention. The insulating elements are arranged on the clamping element in such a way that two of the stacked spark gaps can be arranged insulated with one end side relative to the first clamping element. An insulator is arranged on the second clamping element. This makes it possible to arrange the third stacked spark gap with one end side insulated from the second clamping element.

The device according to the invention is thus designed such that the three stacked spark gaps can be fastened together on the one hand and also neatly held side by side and on the other hand contacted in a special way. One of the stacked spark gaps is contacted by the first clamping element and both of the stacked spark gaps are contacted by the second clamping element. Since the two clamping elements are also electrically connected to one another, the device according to the invention creates a clever possibility of connecting the stacked spark gaps to one another in a star connection. For this purpose, the device itself forms an intermediate potential.

A particularly advantageous embodiment of the device according to the invention is characterized in that the two insulating parts arranged on the first clamping element are realized by a common first insulating element. The insulation arranged on the second clamping element is realized by a second insulation element. This reduces the installation effort, since the number of components that have to be installed is reduced if the two insulating parts are realized as a single insulating element.

Particularly advantageously, the insulation or the insulation element is constructed as described above in connection with the assembly according to the invention. All the discussion made in connection with this assembly and all the designs of the insulator and the insulating element apply correspondingly in all the described features to the device for fastening and contacting a stacked spark gap according to the invention.

Those features which relate to the various designs of the connecting element and the clamping element and which have been described in connection with the assembly according to the invention are correspondingly likewise applicable to the device according to the invention.

In a further embodiment, a contact element for contacting a stacked spark gap is arranged on the first clamping element, and two contact elements for contacting two stacked spark gaps are arranged on the second clamping element. If the insulating element according to the invention with the corresponding recess is arranged on the clamping elements, the contact elements are designed and arranged on the clamping elements such that they are arranged in the recess of the insulating element. The outer contour of the contact element is particularly preferably matched to the outer contour of the recess.

Detailed Description

Fig. 1 shows a sectional view of a component 1 of a stacked spark gap 2. The assembly 1 comprises three stacked spark gaps 2, wherein each stacked spark gap 2 is formed by a plurality of electrodes 3 and an insulating element 4 arranged between the electrodes 3. These stacked spark gaps 2 are clamped between a first clamping element 5 and a second clamping element 6. Furthermore, these stacked spark gaps 2 are arranged in parallel side by side. The two clamping elements 5, 6 are arranged opposite one another on an end side 7 of the stacked spark gap 2 and are also connected to one another by a connecting element 8. Two connecting elements 8 are visible in this sectional view. The clamping elements 5, 6 and the connecting element 8 are electrically conductive, so that the two clamping elements 5, 6 are electrically connected to one another via the connecting element 8.

Each of the stacked spark gaps 2 can be switched by means of switching elements 9, wherein the switching elements 9 are arranged on the end side 7 of the stacked spark gaps 2 serving as a switching side 10.

The assembly 1 is generally configured such that an insulator 11 is arranged between the contact side 10 of the stacked spark gap 2 and the clamping elements 5, 6 arranged on the respective contact side 10. The contact side 10 of the stacked spark gap is thereby electrically insulated from the respective clamping element 5, 6.

An end face 7 of each stacked spark gap 2 opposite the contact side 10 is electrically conductively connected to the clamping elements 5, 6 arranged on this end face 7. Each individual stacked spark gap 2 is thus electrically conductively connected to one clamping element 5, 6 and is also arranged insulated opposite the other clamping element 5, 6. By this design it is achieved that the stacked spark gaps 2 form a star connection. The clamping elements 5, 6 and the connecting element 8 form an intermediate potential.

The two outer, stacked spark gaps 2 face the first clamping element 5 with their contact side 10 and are thus electrically conductively connected to the second clamping element 6. The central, stacked spark gap 2 faces the second clamping element 6 with its contact side 10 and is thus electrically conductively connected to the first clamping element 5. A preferred arrangement of these switching elements 9 results from the fact that two switching elements 9 are located on one side of the assembly 1 and one switching element 9 is centrally located on the other side of the assembly 1.

Overall, it is achieved by the assembly 1 that there are always two stacked spark gaps 2 between two contact elements 9 and thus between two conductors, with which the assembly 1 is contacted by the contact elements 9. Thus, with the stacked spark gap 2 conductive, the following circuit is created:

the contact element 9 reaches the contact element 9 arranged on the stack spark gap via a stack spark gap 2, via the clamping elements 5, 6, to which the stack spark gap 2 is electrically conductively connected, via the connecting element 8, via the opposite clamping elements 5, 6, via the contact element 9 electrically conductively connected to the clamping elements 5, 6.

Fig. 2 shows a first electrically conductive clamping element 5 and a second electrically conductive clamping element 6, which are connected to one another by four electrically conductive connecting elements 8 and form an intermediate potential of the assembly 1. These connecting elements 8 are realized as screws and extend from the outside of the second clamping element 6 through recesses 12 in the clamping elements 5, 6 to the outside of the first clamping element 5. The screw head 13 is thus located on the outside of the second clamping element 6, while the screw is fixed on the outside of the first clamping element 5 by means of the nut 14. By using a plurality of connecting elements 8, the stability of the assembly 1 is improved. As can be seen in fig. 2, a tongue (Zapfen) 15 is also formed on the clamping elements 5, 6.

Fig. 3 shows a design in which the insulation 11 is formed by insulation elements 16, 17, with which the contact side 10 of the stacked spark gap 2 is electrically insulated from the clamping elements 5, 6. On the side of the first clamping element 5 facing the end side 7 of the stacked spark gap 2, a first insulating element 16 is arranged. The insulating element 16 completely covers the clamping element 5, with the exception of a recess 18 which is formed centrally in the insulating element 16. The end side 7 of the centrally arranged stacked spark gap 2 can be electrically conductively connected to the clamping element 5 by means of the recess 18, while the contact sides 10 of the two outer stacked spark gaps 2 are insulated from the clamping element 5 by means of the insulating element 16. On the side of the second clamping element 6 facing the end side 7 of the stacked spark gap 2, a second insulating element 17 is arranged. The insulating element 17 has two recesses 18, which are formed in the insulating element 17 in such a way that the end sides 7 of the two outer, stacked spark gaps 2 can be electrically conductively connected to the second clamping element 6 via these recesses 18. These recesses 18 are visible in the sectional view of fig. 1.

The insulating elements 16, 17 are constructed in a frame-like manner. The outer contour 19 of the insulating elements 16, 17 is matched to the outer contour 20 of the clamping elements 5, 6. Overall, however, the insulating elements 16, 17 are designed in such a way that they project slightly beyond the clamping elements 5, 6 on the edge, so that reliable insulation is ensured.

Fig. 4a shows the first clamping element 5, and fig. 4b shows the second clamping element 6. A contact element 21 is arranged on the first clamping element 5. In the assembled state, the contact element 21 is arranged between the end side 7 of the intermediate stacked spark gap 2 and the first clamping element 5. The contact element 21 is electrically conductively connected to the adjacent electrode 3 of the stacked spark gap 2. Two contact elements 21 are arranged on the second clamping element 6, which contact elements are connected in the assembled state in an electrically conductive manner to adjacent electrodes 3 of the outer stacked spark gap 2. These contact elements 21 are likewise shown in fig. 1 and 3.

Three stacked spark gaps 2 arranged in parallel side by side are depicted in fig. 5. In the embodiment shown, each stacked spark gap 2 has 12 electrodes 3. On the end side 7, which is in electrical contact with the clamping elements 5, 6, a contact element 21 is arranged. An activation element 9 is arranged on the activation side 10. The contact element 9 has a contact region 22 and a contact region 23. The contact region 22 of the contact element 9 is electrically conductively connected to the adjacent electrode 3. The stacked spark gaps 2 are connected to the respective line via the connection regions 23. The contact region 22 of the contact element 9 is formed in a planar manner in order to form as large a contact surface as possible with the electrode 3.

Whereas the switching region 23 of the switching element 9 is of angular design. By the angled design of the contact region 23, the contact region 23 can be extended in a smart manner through the opening 24 formed in the insulating part 11, 16, 17 to the side of the clamping element 5, 6 facing away from the end side 7. This is shown in particular in fig. 6, which shows the second clamping element 6 with the second insulating element 17. Two openings 24 are formed in the insulating element 17, through which openings the contact regions 23 of the contact element 9 extend to the side of the clamping element 6 facing the end side 7 of the stacked spark gap 2. The switch element 9 does not touch the clamping element 6. To ensure this, the insulating element 17 extends through the opening 24, as can be seen in fig. 1. In the insulating element 17, a recess 18 is formed centrally, in which a contact element 21 is arranged. Furthermore, a recess 12 is also formed in the insulating element 17 for the passage of the connecting element 8.

In addition to the elements shown in fig. 6, fig. 7 also shows each electrode 3 of the stacked spark gap 2, i.e. a total of 3 electrodes arranged side by side. The two outer electrodes 3 are in this case contacted via the contact regions 22 of the contact element 9 and are electrically insulated from the clamping element 6 by the insulating element 17. The central electrode 3 is in electrical contact with the clamping element 6 via a contact element 21.
