Technical Field

The present invention relates to a holding device for receiving and operating a tablet computer and is particularly used in industrial or outdoor applications.

Background

Currently known tablet computers (personal computers) consist of a touch screen mounted in a rectangular parallelepiped housing together with other electronic components. In addition to touch screens, only a few other tactilely operable controls (e.g., switches) are available for operation. The housing is preferably constructed very thin in tablet computers for end consumer, office or similar applications, while for industrial and outdoor applications housings and protective covers made of protective materials (e.g. impact resistant, water and oil resistant) are used. The shape of the housing remains a flat cuboid in these more robust devices.

The cuboid shape of tablet computers and the almost mere operation through touch screens have considerable ergonomic disadvantages, especially in industrial environments:

the tablet may slip off when held and input for a long time, especially with one hand or with fingers with oil, which may result in damage to the tablet, erroneous operation and loss of time in operation. In addition, the position of the hand and fingers is also ergonomically unfavorable, so that a physiological load is generated. For remedial action, an ergonomically shaped handle may be used for reliable and low load handling and manipulation.

Touch screens are difficult or impossible to operate when the fingers are oily, gloved, the operator's touch is limited or alternately works with a power motor. For remedial action, additional haptically-operable controls may be used by means of which (instead of a touch screen) the tablet computer can be fully or largely controlled.

Furthermore, the operating device has a communication device for connecting the operating device to a CAN bus of the commercial vehicle and a standardized connector for connecting to a mobile computer. The operating device has at least one damping element to increase the vibration and shock resistance of the mobile computer. An ergonomically optimized receiving device is not described. In addition, the protective case of the operation device cannot be combined with other tablet computers.

Disclosure of Invention

The object of the invention is to develop a holding device for receiving and operating a tablet computer, which has a simple structural design and good operability in industrial and outdoor use. An ergonomic handle shape should be provided that allows for reliable, low-load, one-handed and two-handed operation of the tablet computer.

This object is achieved by the features of claim 1.

Advantageous embodiments are given by the dependent claims.

The present invention relates to a holder for receiving and operating a tablet computer, the holder having handles for the left and right hand, the handles having an ergonomic shape. The holding device is designed such that it can be gripped and operated with both or one hand.

The tablet computer is disposed between the handles and may be charged through a socket located on the underside of the handles. This may be done via a charging cable or a docking station.

The ergonomically shaped handle has four concave cavity-like recesses on the back for the user's fingers. This ensures a stable hand posture and good grippability.

The handle has a thumb support on the front face for securing the thumb when held in one hand.

On at least one of the handles is mounted a control element in the form of a joystick, cross key or similar control for operating the software interface by means of the thumb. Therefore, the tablet computer can be conveniently operated with one hand or gloves.

In an advantageous embodiment, an operating element is mounted on at least one of the handles, which operating element comprises at least two keys for operating the software interface by means of the thumb. In addition, at least one button for operating the software interface can be mounted on the back of the handle.

The holding device is constructed such that it is compatible with a variety of tablet computers. This can be achieved by a housing consisting of a frame and, if appropriate, a cover, which can be connected to the handle and which matches the tablet computer.

Advantageously, an ergonomic one-handed handle for holding with one hand and for placing the tablet computer is provided on the rear side of the housing, wherein the one-handed handle is variably mounted in the grid by means of a suitable connection technology, preferably a magnetic connection.

With the present invention, the tablet computer can be reliably held and transported with both left and right hands by an ergonomic handle. The concave recesses for the fingers also allow an unskilled user to intuitively find a favorable gripping position. By means of the thumb support, the thumb can be fixed to the handle and serve as a support when held in one hand, without the operating element and the control element being accidentally operated.

The control of the software interface by means of a control element, such as a joystick and an operating element comprising at least two keys with a confirmation/return function, enables ergonomic operation by the user with the thumb, independently of the touch screen. Furthermore, the index finger can control different functions by means of operating elements on the back of the handle.

The handles for the left and right hands are mounted on a housing in which tablet computers of different manufacturers can be fitted. An additional ergonomic one-handed handle (e.g., via a magnetic connection, snap-fit connection, or threaded connection) may be mounted to the back of the housing. The one-handed handle may be variably positioned within a predetermined grid on the back of the housing as desired by the user. In addition, the single-handed handle may be used as a support for placing the tablet computer.

Detailed Description

A holding device for a tablet computer according to the present invention is shown in fig. 1 and 2. The tablet computer is arranged in a housing 1 with an ergonomically shaped one-handed handle 2 arranged on the back. The housing 1 preferably comprises a frame and a cover in which the tablet computer is embedded and closed.

Left and right handles 3 and 4 are provided on the left and right sides of the housing 1. The handles 3, 4 are connected to the frame and each have four concave cavity-like recesses 5 on the back, into which fingers can be placed.

Thus, even if gloves are used, the tablet personal computer can be stably and reliably held. The recess 5 provides an ergonomic guide for the finger.

In addition, the handles 3, 4 each have a thumb support 6 provided on the front of the handles 3, 4.

The software interface of the tablet computer can be controlled through the control element 7 in an optional touch operation mode. The control element is configured on the left handle 3 in the form of a joystick 7. Other operating possibilities are achieved by using an operating element 8 which comprises at least two keys with a confirmation/return function. The control element 7 and the operating element 8 enable the user to perform ergonomic operations with the thumb, independently of the touch screen. In addition, an operating element 9 is provided on the rear side of the handle 3, 4, which can be operated by the index finger. On the underside of the left and/or right handles 3, 4, a socket 10 for charging the tablet computer is provided. Therefore, the tablet computer can be charged in the holding device.

Fig. 3 to 5 show a single view of the left handle 3. The handle 3 has a recess 5 on the back for the fingers. On the front side, a thumb rest 6 is provided, which provides an ergonomic gripping possibility. The touch screen is operated by means of a joystick 7 and an operating element 9 arranged on the rear side. The joystick 7 can be operated by the thumb of the left hand and the operating element 9 by the index finger of the left hand.

Fig. 6 to 8 show a single view of the right handle 4. The handle 4 has a recess 5 on the back for the fingers. On the front side, a thumb rest 6 is provided, which offers ergonomic gripping possibilities. The touch screen is operated by means of two operating elements 8 in the form of buttons and an operating element 9 arranged on the rear side. The two keys 8 can be operated by the thumbs of two right hands and the operating element 9 can be operated by the index finger of the right hand. The button 8 is preferably designed for a confirmation or return function.

Fig. 9 shows a holding device according to the invention in a rear view. The centrally disposed housing 1 is enclosed by left and right handles 3, 4. Since a camera is typically mounted in today's tablet computers, the housing 1 has a void 11 that exposes the camera lens of the tablet computer. An ergonomically shaped one-handed handle is mounted in the center of the housing 1, wherein the one-handed handle on the back of the housing can be variably positioned in a predetermined grid according to the needs of the user. In addition, the one-handed handle may be used as a support on which the tablet computer is placed. The mounting of the one-handed handle 2 is preferably effected by means of known connection techniques, such as magnetic connections.
