The apparatus includes an elongated housing (112) and a reservoir (114). 1. A method of assembling an apparatus for containing reagents for a chemical reaction, the method comprising:

(i) selecting an elongated receptacle comprising a plastic material, the receptacle arranged to define an interior volume for holding reagents, wherein the receptacle comprises a first end and a second end spaced apart along the elongated extent of the receptacle, wherein the receptacle defines a port at the second end, wherein the diameter of the port is greater than the diameter of the receptacle in a region inward of the second end;

(ii) selecting a housing for housing the reservoir, wherein the housing comprises a first end and a second end, wherein the second end of the housing comprises an outwardly facing surface;

(iii) positioning the second end of the receptacle on the outwardly facing surface with the receptacle positioned within the housing such that the second end of the receptacle is adjacent the second end of the housing; and

(iv) securing the second end of the receptacle in position relative to the outwardly facing surface.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the receptacle comprises a plastic film material having a thickness of at least 20 μ ι η (preferably at least 50 μ ι η) and a thickness of less than 2000 μ ι η (preferably less than 1000 μ ι η).

3. A method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the first end of the receptacle is a closed end and comprises a sealed, e.g. heat sealed, area.

4. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the length of the receptacle is the straight-line distance between its first end and its second end, wherein the diameter of the receptacle is substantially constant over at least 80% (preferably at least 90% or 95%) of the distance of the first end of the receptacle towards the second end.

5. The method of any preceding claim, wherein the diameter of the receptacle is from 1cm to 45cm (and preferably at least 7cm and less than 30cm) throughout its range; and/or the length of the reservoir is from 15cm to 60m (and preferably from 3m to 15 m).

6. The method of any preceding claim, wherein the maximum diameter of the port is up to 30% greater than the diameter of the receptacle inward of the port.

7. The method of any preceding claim, wherein the receptacle does not comprise a seam between its first and second ends, other than any means of arranging the first end to define a closed end.

8. The method of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the reservoir is formed from a lay flat tube, wherein preferably the tube is sealed at the first end and expanded at the second end.

9. The method of any one of the preceding claims, wherein an aspect ratio of the reservoir is defined as a length of the interior volume of the reservoir divided by a diameter of the interior volume of the reservoir, wherein the aspect ratio is at least 10 and less than 600.

10. The method of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the housing is an elongated housing and is arranged to support the receptacle arranged within the housing, wherein the outwardly facing surface referred to in step (iii) of the method faces outwardly in a direction parallel to the elongated extent of the housing and/or perpendicular to a diameter of the housing.

11. The method of any preceding claim, wherein the housing comprises a flange defining the outwardly facing surface, wherein the flange comprises a substantially planar face extending substantially perpendicular to the elongate extent of the housing.

12. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein in step (iii) of the method the receptacle is positioned within the housing with a second end of the receptacle extending out of the housing and the second end subsequently folded over the outwardly facing surface, such as the flange.

13. The method of any preceding claim, wherein in step (iv) of the method the receptacle is removably secured in place within the housing by a securing means for clamping the receptacle in place, and preferably the second end of the receptacle is secured in place by a surface of the securing means which is urged against a portion of the receptacle (e.g. the mouth) so as to clamp the receptacle between the securing means and the outwardly facing surface of the housing (e.g. a flange).

14. An apparatus assembled according to the method of any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus comprises:

(i) an elongated receptacle, wherein the receptacle comprises a first end and a second end spaced apart along the elongated extent of the receptacle, wherein the receptacle defines a mouth at the second end, wherein the diameter of the mouth is greater than the diameter of the region of the receptacle inward of the second end;

(ii) a housing for housing the reservoir, wherein the housing comprises a first end and a second end, wherein the second end of the housing comprises an outwardly facing surface;

(iii) wherein the second end of the receptacle is positioned on the outwardly facing surface of the housing;

(iv) wherein the second end of the receptacle is fixed in position relative to the outwardly facing surface.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein any feature of the reservoir and/or housing of claim 14 may be as in any of claims 1 to 13.

16. A method of preparing an elongate receptacle for use in the method and/or apparatus of any preceding claim, the method comprising:

(a) selecting a precursor of a reservoir comprising a plastic material, the precursor of the reservoir arranged to define an interior volume for holding reagents, wherein the precursor of the reservoir comprises a first end and a second end, the first end and the second end spaced apart along an elongate extent of the precursor of the reservoir;

(b) treating a region of the reservoir precursor adjacent the second end to define an opening of a reservoir for holding a reagent, wherein the opening of the reservoir has a larger diameter than a region of the reservoir inward of the second end.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the precursor is treated such that adjacent the second end, the precursor expands and the maximum diameter of the reservoir is located at the second end.

18. The method of claim 16 or 17, wherein in step (b) the precursor of the reservoir is heated to enable its shape to change, preferably substantially permanently and/or inelastically.

19. The method of any one of claims 16 to 18, wherein in step (b) the precursor of the receptacle (e.g. the region thereof comprising the second end) is engaged with a former, such as a shaped object, the former being arranged to facilitate formation of the expanded second end of the receptacle.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the former is conical or frustoconical.

21. The method of claim 19 or 20, wherein the former is positioned within a precursor of the receptacle and heated to suitably cause a substantially permanent thermal deformation of the precursor of the receptacle, thereby defining the receptacle.

22. The method of any one of claims 19 to 21, wherein before or after step (b), the method comprises treating the precursor of the reservoir to close a first end of the reservoir, wherein preferably such treatment comprises heating a region of the reservoir precursor adjacent to the first end.

23. An elongate receptacle for holding reagents for a chemical reaction, the elongate receptacle comprising a plastic material, the receptacle being arranged to define an interior volume for holding reagents, wherein the receptacle comprises a first end and a second end, the first end and the second end being spaced apart along the elongate extent of the receptacle, wherein the receptacle defines a mouth at the second end, wherein the diameter of the mouth is greater than the diameter of the region of the receptacle inward of the second end.

24. An elongate receptacle as claimed in claim 23 wherein any feature of the receptacle may be as claimed in any preceding claim.

25. A receptacle as set forth in claim 23 or 24 wherein said receptacle comprises an agent and/or a product produced therefrom, and preferably comprises a drag reducing polymer.
