1. A controller (10) for operating a bridge circuit (30) of a vehicle power module, the controller comprising:

-an input interface (12) for obtaining an output current of the bridge circuit (30);

-an analysis unit (14) for determining an adaptive dead time from the obtained output current, wherein the adaptive dead time is associated with a predetermined commutation time of the bridge circuit (30) and is bounded by a predetermined minimum value; and

-a signal unit (16) for generating a control signal for applying the adaptive dead time into the bridge circuit (30).

2. The controller (10) of claim 1, wherein the commutation time is defined as a drain-source voltage (V) of the bridge circuit (30)DS) A duration of decrease from an initial value to 30%, 25%, 20%, 15%, 10%, 5%, or 0% of the initial value.

3. The controller (10) according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the input interface (12) is further designed for obtaining the predetermined commutation time and the predetermined minimum value.

The controller (10) according to claim 3, wherein the analyzing unit (12) is designed for causing: the dead time of the adaptation is equal to the minimum value over a first range in which the output current is above a predefined threshold value and/or the dead time of the adaptation is equal to the predetermined commutation time over a second range in which the output current is below the threshold value.

5. The controller (10) as claimed in one of the preceding claims, wherein the analysis unit (14) is designed for selecting the adaptive dead time from a table or a variable field depending on the output current.

6. The controller (10) as claimed in one of the preceding claims, wherein the analysis unit (14) is designed for selecting the adaptive dead time from the output current according to an approximation formula.

7. A control method for operating a bridge circuit (30) of a vehicle power module, the control method comprising:

-obtaining an output current of the bridge circuit (30);

-determining an adaptive dead time from the obtained output current, wherein the adaptive dead time is associated with a predetermined commutation time of the bridge circuit (30) and is bounded by a predetermined minimum value; and

-generating a control signal for applying the adaptive dead time into the bridge circuit (30).

8. A method for finding an adaptive dead time of a bridge circuit (30), the method comprising:

-measuring a minimum value of a dead time of the bridge circuit (30);

-measuring a commutation time of the bridge circuit (30) as a function of an output current of the bridge circuit (30);

-combining the measured commutation time with the minimum value sought to obtain an adaptive dead time from the output current, the adaptive dead time being associated with the measured commutation time and being bounded by the minimum value sought.

9. A computer program product comprising instructions which, when said program is executed by a computer, cause the computer to carry out the method according to claim 7 or 8.

10. A computer-readable storage medium on which the computer program product according to claim 9 is stored.

11. A data carrier signal, said data carrier signal being conveyed by the computer program product according to claim 9.
