Technical Field

The subject matter of the present invention relates generally to canopies (canopies), and more particularly to a foldable net-carrying canopy accessory for a juvenile reclining chair (juvenile lounger).

Background

Although many of the worst effects of the sun do not manifest until later in life, medical studies indicate that it is necessary to protect children from excessive exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It is well known that excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation can cause skin cancer. Thus, in early childhood, children's delicate eyes, skin and body need adequate protection from the harmful effects of sun's heat, glare and carcinogenic ultraviolet rays. While some child car seats, child carriers, juvenile recliners may provide some covering to protect the child from the sun, a disadvantage of these coverings is that they may be inconvenient to carry and install. In addition, it may be desirable to protect children from insects and sunlight.

There is therefore a need for a device that can be attached to a juvenile reclining chair that can provide protection against elements such as the sun and insects.

Detailed Description

The subject matter of the present disclosure will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings and appendices (which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety), in which some, but not all embodiments of the disclosed subject matter are shown. Like numbers refer to like elements throughout. The inventive subject matter may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will satisfy applicable legal requirements. Indeed, many modifications and other embodiments of the subject matter disclosed herein will come to mind to one skilled in the art to which the subject matter disclosed herein pertains having the benefit of the teachings presented in the foregoing descriptions and the associated drawings. Therefore, it is to be understood that the inventions are not to be limited to the specific embodiments disclosed and that modifications and other embodiments are intended to be included within the scope of the appended claims.

In some embodiments, the inventive subject matter may provide for reclining chairs (such as, for example, a lounge chair) with a childDeluxe + baby lounge). Referring now to fig. 1-6, which are various views of an example of a collapsible canopy 100 of the present disclosure, the collapsible canopy 100 can be mounted on a juvenile recliner 200 (as shown in fig. 2). The canopy 100 is preferably a portable, attachable, detachable, collapsible canopy device for use in combination with, for example, a juvenile recliner 200. The juvenile lounge chair 200 may be a child-sized or child-sized stoolA carry-on lounge, pod (pod), mattress or pad (generally referred to herein as a "juvenile lounge").

In one embodiment, the collapsible canopy 100 can include a collapsible canopy arch 105 and a collapsible canopy base 110. The collapsible canopy arch 105 can include a fabric body 115 mounted on a leaf spring member (not shown). The leaf spring member may be made of a flexible loop or ring formed, for example, from metal, plastic, or other suitable material. In the relaxed state, the leaf spring member may be generally oval shaped, as constrained by the pattern of the fabric body 115, wherein the edges of the fabric body 115 may be folded over and stitched around the leaf spring member, or otherwise suitably constrained around the perimeter of the fabric body 115. The fabric body 115 may be formed of any lightweight, flexible, durable, uv-blocking (e.g., uv screening factor 50+) material, and is preferably formed of a substantially water-resistant or water-resistant material. For example, the fabric body 115 may be formed of polyester, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coated polyester, vinyl coated polyester, nylon, canvas, PVC coated canvas, polycotton canvas (polycotton canvas), and/or any other suitable material. The ends 120 of the collapsible canopy arch 105 can be attached to the opposing side portions 125 of the base 110 of the collapsible canopy by stitching or other suitable mechanism or technique to maintain the collapsible canopy arch 105 in an arched (bowed) position extending over a portion of the collapsible canopy base 110 when the collapsible canopy is in an unfolded, open state. In one example, the collapsible canopy arch can extend over a portion of the collapsible canopy base 110 when in an unfolded, open state, such that when the collapsible canopy is mounted on the juvenile recliner 200, the collapsible canopy arch 105 extends over at least a portion of the juvenile recliner over which the head of a juvenile (such as a child/infant) is positioned.

The collapsible canopy arch 105 can also include a mesh 130, such as an insect screen. Pockets 135 may be provided on each side of the collapsible canopy arch 105 for storing the net 130 and later unfolding the net 130. The pocket 135 may be, for example, a zipper-closed pocket or other closable/openable type pocket, and may include a zipper 140 or other suitable type of easy-to-close/open mechanism. In one example, a pocket 135 can be along a front portion of the fabric body 115 of the collapsible canopy arch 105 for retaining/releasing the forward facing web 130. Likewise, another pocket 135 may be along a rear portion of the fabric body 115 of the collapsible canopy arch 105 for retaining/releasing the rearward facing insect net 130. The pocket 135 can be along an edge of a bottom or top side of the forward-facing and/or rearward-facing portions of the fabric body 115 of the collapsible canopy arch 105. Once deployed, the mesh 130 may be folded under or around an exterior portion of the juvenile chair 200 to enclose a child/infant lying therein. The mesh 130 may include an elastic band 145 integrated around its bottom perimeter to facilitate holding the bottom of the mesh 130 in place under or around the perimeter of the juvenile couch 200 (e.g., in a groove formed at the intersection of the cushioning (bump) portion of the juvenile couch 200 and the bottom mattress pad). The net 130 may also include vertical zipper openings 150 (or other types of openable/closable openings) in front-facing and/or rear-facing portions of the net 130 to allow easy access to a child/infant lying therein when the net 130 is deployed. The presence of the mesh 130, and thus the pocket 125, in the canopy 100 can be optional.

The collapsible canopy arch 105 can also include a shield 155. The shield 155 can be disposed on a front portion of the fabric body 115 of the collapsible canopy arch 105. The shield 155 may be configured such that the shield 155 may be pulled forward (deployed) to increase sun protection or pushed backward (retracted) when the shield 155 is not in use/needed. The shield 155 may be made of the same or similar material as the fabric body 115 and may include a resilient front edge portion 160, e.g., similar to a leaf spring material around the perimeter of the fabric body 115, or made of other suitable material to allow the shield 155 to support itself while being easily deployed and retracted.

The collapsible canopy base 110 can include a base floor 165 and a protective skirt 170. The base floor 165 may include a fabric body similar to the fabric body 115 that is also mounted in the base floor 165 on a flexible leaf spring member (not shown) made of a flexible loop or ring formed of, for example, metal, plastic, or other suitable material. The base floor 165 may be generally oval-shaped, and the length and width of the base floor 165 is substantially the same as or similar to the length and width of the infant/baby couch 200 (which is mounted on the base floor 165). In one example, the base floor 165 has a length and width equal to or greater than the juvenile chair 200 (which is mounted on the base floor 165). Protective skirt 170 is attached (e.g., sewn) to the perimeter of base floor 165 at its bottom edge, and preferably extends around the perimeter of base floor 165. Protective skirt 170 may include an elastic band 175 integrated around its upper perimeter to facilitate holding protective skirt 170 in place around the bottom exterior portion of juvenile chair 200. For example, the elastic band 175 may be folded into a recess formed at the intersection of the bottom mattress pad and cushioning portion of the juvenile chair 200. The base floor 165 and protective skirt 170 are preferably formed of a substantially water resistant or water proof material. In one embodiment, the leaf spring members of the collapsible canopy arch 105 and the collapsible canopy base 110 can be a single continuous resilient member (e.g., a wire) that transitions from the collapsible canopy arch 105 to the collapsible canopy base 110. In such an embodiment, a single continuous resilient member can be transferred from the collapsible canopy arch 105 to the collapsible canopy base 110 at a portion of the collapsible canopy 100 where the collapsible canopy arch 105 of the collapsible canopy 100 is attached to the collapsible canopy base 110, and can assume the shape shown in fig. 8. In another embodiment, the collapsible canopy arch 105 and the collapsible canopy base 110 can have their own separate leaf spring-like members.

The collapsible canopy arch 105 of the collapsible canopy 100 can be retractable, for example, to make it easier for an infant/young child to be placed into or removed from the juvenile chair 200. In one example, to retract the collapsible canopy arch 105, a front portion of the collapsible canopy arch 105 is pulled rearward toward a rear portion of the collapsible canopy arch 105. Once pulled rearward, the front and rear portions of the collapsible canopy arch 105 can be attached together by a toggle (toggle)180 on the front top portion of the collapsible canopy arch 105 and a fabric ring 185 at the rear top portion of the collapsible canopy arch 105. The positions of the toggles 180 and the fabric loop 185 can be reversed, that is, the toggles 180 can be on the rear top portion of the collapsible canopy arch 105 and the fabric loop 185 can be on the front top portion of the collapsible canopy arch 105. Further, the front and rear portions of the collapsible canopy arch 105 are not limited to being attached together only by the toggles 180 and the fabric ring 185. The front and rear portions of the collapsible canopy arch 105 can be attached by any suitable technique or mechanism, including but not limited to snaps, hooks and loops, ties, clips, magnets, and/or the like.

Fig. 7A-7F illustrate an example of a process of mounting the collapsible canopy 100 of the present disclosure to the juvenile recliner 200, as well as other features of the collapsible canopy 100. For example, as an initial step, the collapsible canopy 100 can be removed from the storage pouch 190. Due to the leaf springs, the collapsible canopy 100 automatically springs open to its fully deployed state when the collapsible canopy 100 is removed from the storage pocket 190. The juvenile recliner chair 200 may then be inserted on top of the base floor 165 of the collapsible canopy base 110, and the protective skirt 170 may be pulled up, and the elastic band 175 of the protective skirt 170 may be pulled around the lower outer perimeter of the juvenile recliner chair 200. In one example, elastic band 175 may be folded into a groove formed between the intersection of the bottom mattress pad and cushioning portion of juvenile chair 200, thereby holding protective skirt 170 upward around the lower outer perimeter of infant chair 200.

Referring to fig. 8A-8E, the collapsible canopy 100 can also be collapsible for easy storage and transport when not in use. In one embodiment, the collapsible canopy 100 can be collapsed into a generally flat, circular state for storage in the storage bag 190. For example, fig. 8 illustrates an example of a process of folding the collapsible canopy 100 of the present disclosure for storage. That is, the collapsible canopy 100 can be easily collapsed into a plurality of small circles. In one example, to fold the collapsible canopy 100 for storage in the storage pocket 190, the ends of the collapsible canopy arch 105 and collapsible canopy base 110 can be pulled together to form two loops. Next, the two formed loops can be folded on top of each other so that they overlap, and the collapsible canopy 100 is automatically configured into a small substantially flat circle due to the spring action of the leaf spring members. The collapsible canopy 100 can then be inserted into the storage bag 190 and zipped or otherwise closed. The collapsible canopy 100 can also include fold cues (not shown), such as, but not limited to, numbers, letters, graphics, and the like, to assist in folding the collapsible canopy 100.
