Technical Field

The present invention relates to a baby carrier. The baby carrier is particularly useful for carrying children from birth to, for example, three years of age.

Background

A baby carrier is known in the prior art. The baby carrier includes a support body extending longitudinally between a lower edge and an opposite upper edge. The upper edge extends in a transverse direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction.

In addition, the baby carrier includes a pair of shoulder straps connected to the support body and adapted to be worn by a user in a state in which the support body defines the baby carrying bag. The infant is placed in the pouch and then received between the user's chest and the support body.

The baby carrier further comprises an adjustment device located at the upper edge of the support body and configured to adjust the length of the upper edge in the transverse direction. These adjustment means may adapt the length of the upper edge to the actual size of the child accommodated in the pocket defined by the support body.

These adjusting means comprise, for example, drawstrings (drawstring) arranged inside a channel which extends in the transverse direction at the upper edge of the support body. The draw tape comprises a portion sewn to the support body and a free elastic portion having at least one end exiting from the channel. By pulling this end of the draw tape, the length of the upper edge of the support body in the transverse direction can be reduced.

Problems of the prior art

The adjustment devices of the prior art baby carrier do not provide for a precise adjustment of the length of the upper edge of the support body. That is, by pulling the free end of the draw tape, the length of the upper edge cannot be adjusted accurately and stably.

On the other hand, when the baby is carried in the bag, the body of the baby presses against the upper edge of the support body, thereby relaxing the pull tape. In other words, the length of the upper edge obtained by pulling the free portion of the pull tape may not be maintained when carrying an infant. This can affect the comfort of the carried baby and may also affect the comfort of the user wearing the baby carrier.

In addition, the reduction in length of the upper edge obtained using the draw tape causes the fabric of the support body to form wrinkles and folds at the upper edge. These wrinkles and folds will contact the delicate body of the baby and significantly affect the comfort of the carrying baby.

Disclosure of Invention

It is therefore a technical object of the present invention to provide a baby carrier which eliminates the disadvantages of the prior art.

In particular, it is an object of the present invention to provide a baby carrier which can be adjusted to precisely fit the actual size of the baby carried.

In addition, it is an object of the present invention to provide a baby carrier which ensures a high level of comfort both for the baby carried and for the user wearing the baby carrier.

The aforementioned technical aim and objects are substantially achieved by a baby carrier comprising the technical features as disclosed in one or more of the appended claims.

THE ADVANTAGES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

In one embodiment of the invention, the length of the upper edge of the support body of the baby carrier can be adjusted and the value of the length thus obtained can be maintained while the baby is being carried.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a high comfort for the baby carrying it and the user wearing the baby carrier can be ensured for any length value obtained at the upper edge of the support body.

Detailed Description

Referring particularly to the drawings, numeral 1 refers to a baby carrier.

The baby carrier 1 comprises a support body 2, the support body 2 extending in a longitudinal direction X-X between a lower edge 21 and an opposite upper edge. The upper edge 22 extends in a transverse direction Y-Y orthogonal to the longitudinal direction X-X. Preferably, the lower edge 21 also extends in the transverse direction Y-Y.

In addition, the baby carrier 1 comprises a pair of shoulder straps 3, the pair of shoulder straps 3 being connected to a support body 2 and adapted to be worn by a user, wherein the support body 2 defines a baby carrying pouch. The pocket is thus defined by the support body 2 and the user's chest.

The support body 2 has an inner surface 25 and an opposite outer surface 26, the inner surface 25 and the outer surface 26 extending in the longitudinal direction X-X from the lower edge 21 to the upper edge 22. In use (i.e. when the user is wearing the baby carrier 1), the inner surface 25 faces the user's chest, while the outer surface 26 faces outwards. In other words, when the user wears the baby carrier 2 and receives a baby inside the bag, the inner surface 25 contacts the baby's body, while the outer surface 26 is the only surface visible from the outside.

In use, the head or neck of the infant is supported by the support body 2 at the upper edge 22, depending on the size of the infant carried in the pocket defined by the support body 2.

Furthermore, the baby carrier 1 comprises an adjustment device 4, the adjustment device 4 being located at the upper edge 22 of the support body 2 and being configured to selectively adjust the length of the upper edge 22 in the transverse direction Y-Y.

Thus, the adjustment device 4 may adjust the length of the support body 2 at the height of the area of the support body 2 supporting the head or neck of the carried infant. Thus, the length of the upper edge 22 of the support body 2 can be adapted to the actual size of the head and neck of the infant to be accommodated in the bag.

These adjustment means 4 are located on the outer surface 26 of the support body 2. In use, the adjustment means 4 do not contact the body of the infant, thereby avoiding any discomfort or irritation to his/her body by the infant, and the length of the upper edge 22 of the support body 2 can be adjusted even in the case where the infant is accommodated in a bag.

The adjustment device 4 comprises an elastic element 41, the elastic element 41 comprising a fixed portion 42 fixed to the support body 2 and a first free portion 43 extending in the transverse direction Y-Y. Thus, the first free portion 43 is at least partially fixed to the support body 2.

Preferably, the first free portion 43 of the elastic element 41 extends in the transverse direction Y-Y between a first end 431 located at the fixed portion 42 and an opposite second end 432. Still preferably, the first free portion 43 has a rectangular shape. Alternatively, the free portion 43 is defined by a double-stitched cord.

The first free portion 43 has a plurality of first coupling members 44 spaced apart in the transverse direction Y-Y. Preferably, the first coupling members 44 are equally spaced in the transverse direction Y-Y. It is also preferred that said first coupling member 44 is located between the first end 431 and the second end 432 of the first free portion 43 in a manner such that the distance from the fixed portion 42 of the elastic element 41 gradually increases.

In addition, the adjustment device 4 comprises a second coupling member 45, the second coupling member 45 being fixed to the support body 2 and spaced apart from the fixing portion 42 in the transverse direction Y-Y. In other words, the support body 2 includes the separation cloth portion 27 interposed between the second coupling member 45 and the fixing portion 42 of the elastic element 41.

The first free portion 43 of the elastic element 41 is elastically extensible to reversibly couple the first coupling member 44 to the second coupling member 45, so as to reversibly reduce the length of the upper edge 22 of the support body 2 in the transverse direction Y-Y from a maximum length to a respective first length smaller than the maximum length. Thus, each coupling between first coupling member 44 and second coupling member 45 is characterized by a respective first length value of upper edge 22.

By pulling the first free portion 43 of the elastic element 41, the elastic element 41 can be extended in the transverse direction Y-Y from an initial length value to a corresponding final length value, thereby coupling the first coupling member 44 to the second coupling member 45.

After the first free portion 43 is extended, the first free portion 43 springs back to a shorter length (i.e., to its original length). However, since the first coupling member 44 is coupled to the second coupling member 45, the reduction in length of the first free portion 43 caused by the spring back reduces the distance of the second coupling member 45 from the fixed portion 42 of the elastic element 41. This reduction in distance causes the separating fabric portion 27 of the support body 2 to be shortened and thus reduces the length of the upper edge 22 of the support body 2.

Advantageously, the separating textile portion 27 is shortened by folding such a separating textile portion 27 towards the outer surface 26 of the support body 2. Therefore, the wrinkles of the separating fabric portion 27 do not come into contact with the body of the infant accommodated in the pouch. This gives a high degree of comfort to the baby being carried, regardless of the length of the upper edge 22 of the support body 2.

It should also be noted that, once the first coupling member 44 is coupled to the second coupling member 4, the closer the first coupling member 44 is to the fixing portion 42 of the elastic element 41, the shorter the respective first length of the upper edge 22 of the support body 2.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the baby carrier 1 comprises a protection element 5 configured to protect the head of a baby. The protective element 5 is, for example, a cap known to the skilled person. The protective element 5 may protect the infant from the sun and/or wind.

The protective element 5 is connected to the upper edge 22 of the supporting body 2. For example, the protection element 5 is non-removably connected to the upper edge 22 of the supporting body 2. Alternatively, the protection element 5 is removably connected to the upper edge 22 of the supporting body 2.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the elastic element 41 comprises a second free portion 46 located on the opposite side of the first free portion 43 with respect to the fixed portion 42. The first free portion 46 extends in the transverse direction Y-Y and has a plurality of additional first coupling members 47 spaced apart in the transverse direction Y-Y. Therefore, the second free portion 46 is symmetrical to the first free portion 43 with respect to the fixed portion 42. Preferably, the additional first coupling members 47 are equally spaced in the transverse direction Y-Y.

Preferably, the second free portion 46 of the elastic element 41 extends in the transverse direction Y-Y between a first end 461 located at the fixed portion 42 and an opposite second end 462. Preferably, the second free portion 43 has a rectangular shape. Alternatively, the second free portion 46 is defined by a double seam.

It is also preferable that the additional first coupling member 47 is disposed between the first end 461 and the second end 462 of the second free portion 43 in such a manner that the distance from the fixed portion 41 gradually increases.

Still according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the adjustment device 4 comprises an additional second coupling member 48, the additional second coupling member 48 being fixed to the support body 2 in a symmetrical position with respect to the fixing portion 42 of the elastic element 41 and the second coupling member 45. The additional second coupling member 48 is also spaced apart from the fixing portion 42 of the elastic element 41. In other words, the support body 2 comprises an additional separating fabric portion 28 interposed between the fixing portion 42 and the additional second coupling member 48.

The first and second free portions 43, 46 of the elastic element 41 are elastically extensible to reversibly couple the first coupling member 44 to the second coupling member 45 and to reversibly couple the additional first coupling member 47 to the additional second coupling member 48, so as to reversibly reduce the length of the upper edge 22 of the support body 2 in the transverse direction Y-Y from a maximum length to a respective second length smaller than the maximum length.

As already mentioned with reference to the extension of the first free portion 43 of the elastic element 41, the extension of the second free portion 46 for coupling each additional first coupling member 47 to the additional second coupling member 48 and the subsequent spring back of such second free portion 46 will cause the additional separating fabric portion 28 to shorten.

Like the separating fabric portion 27, the additional separating fabric portion 288 is also shortened by folding such additional separating fabric portion 28 towards the outer surface 26 of the support body 2, thereby avoiding such wrinkles to come into contact with the body of the infant accommodated in the bag.

It should also be noted that once such additional first coupling member 47 is coupled to the additional second coupling member 4, the closer the additional first coupling member 47 is to the fixing portion 42 of the elastic element 41, the shorter the additional fabric portion 28.

Preferably, each first coupling member 44 and each additional first coupling member 47 comprises a slot 10, while each second coupling member 45 and additional second coupling member 48 comprises a clasp 11. Such first coupling members 44 may be coupled to the second coupling members 45 by inserting the buckles 11 of the respective first coupling members 44 into the grooves 10 of the second coupling members 45. Likewise, each additional first coupling member 47 may be coupled to the additional second coupling member 48 by inserting the clasp 11 of the additional first coupling member 47 into the slot 10 of the additional second coupling member 48.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the support body 2 comprises a channel 23 arranged along the transverse direction Y-Y at the upper edge 22 of the support body 2. The elastic element 41 of the adjustment device 4 is received in this channel 23. The second end 432 of the first free portion 43 and the second end 462 of the second free portion 46 respectively exit the channel 23 and can be grasped to elastically extend the first and second free portions 43, 46.

The second coupling member 45 and the additional second coupling member 48 are each located near a respective end 231 of the channel 23. Preferably, the second coupling member 45 and the additional second coupling member 48 are located at respective ends 231 of the channel 23.

In one aspect, the support body 2 extends between a pair of side edges 24 in the transverse direction Y-Y. Preferably, the side edges 24 of the support body 2 extend in the longitudinal direction X-X.

Still preferably, each shoulder strap 3 comprises a front portion 33, front portion 33 being connected to upper edge 22 of support body 2 and extending in a forward extension direction Z-Z of shoulder strap 3. Furthermore, each shoulder strap 3 comprises a rear portion 34, which rear portion 34 is connected to the respective side edge 24 of the support body and extends in the rearward extension direction K-K of the shoulder strap. In use, the front portion 33 of each shoulder strap 3 is placed at least partially over a person's chest and the rear portion 34 of each shoulder strap 3 is placed over a person's back.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, each shoulder strap 3 comprises a guide 31 arranged in the backward extension direction K-K of the shoulder strap 3 and a slider 32 adapted to slide along the respective guide 31. Each guide member 31 is located at the rear portion 34 of the respective shoulder strap 3.

Still according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the baby carrier 1 comprises a connector 6 with a snap-in buckle 61. The connector 6 is well known to those skilled in the art and will therefore not be further described herein.

The connector 6 is connected to the slide 32 of the shoulder strap 3 such that a sliding movement of the slide 32 along its respective guide 31 will cause the connector 6 to slide. Thus, the connector 6 allows to connect the two shoulder straps 3 at the back of the person wearing the baby carrier 1. By adjusting the position of the connector 6 along the guide 31, the weight of the infant contained in the bag can be more easily supported.

Still according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the baby carrier 1 comprises a pair of adjustment clasps 7. The adjustment buckle 7 is also well known to the person skilled in the art and will not be further explained here.

Each adjustment buckle 7 is fixed to the front portion 33 of the corresponding shoulder strap 3, and is configured to adjust the length of the corresponding front portion 33 of the shoulder strap 3 in the forward extending direction Z-Z of the shoulder strap 3.

By adjusting the length of the front portion 33 of the shoulder straps 3 along the respective forward extension direction Z-Z, the volume of the pocket defined by the support body 2 can be adapted to the actual size of the baby's body. In fact, as the length of the front portion 33 of the shoulder strap 3 increases, the volume of the backpack also increases.

Still according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the baby carrier 1 comprises a pair of lateral adjustment buckles 8. Each lateral adjustment buckle 8 is latched to a respective front portion 33 of the shoulder strap and to a portion of a respective side edge 24 of the support body 2. For example, each lateral adjustment buckle 8 is fixed to the shoulder strap 3 and to the support body 2 at an outer surface 26 of such a support body.

The lateral adjustment buckle 8 is configured to move the front portion 33 of the shoulder strap 3 towards the lower edge 21, thus adjusting the distance between the upper edge 22 and the lower edge 21 of the support body 2 along the longitudinal direction X-X. Thus, with the respective lateral adjustment buckles 8, the lower edge 21 of the support body 2 can be moved towards and away from the shoulder strap 3, and thus the lower edge 21 can be moved towards and away from the upper edge 22 of the support body 2.

Advantageously, with the lateral adjustment buckle 8, the length of the lateral edge 24 in the longitudinal direction X-X can be adjusted to adapt the support body 2 to the length of the infant accommodated in the bag.

Preferably, the baby carrier 1 comprises a strap 9 connected to the lower edge 21 of the support body 2. The belt 9 can be fastened to the waist of the user. Advantageously, the support body 2 is more stably fixed to the user.
