Background

With age, the probability of accidental injury to the elderly is increasing. According to reports issued by the world health organization, over 30 million people die from falls every year worldwide, with over 60 years of age accounting for more than half. In the event of falling of the old, the falling rate at home is more than 51.5%. The incidence of complications is high and the severity is high after the old falls. The mild case has soft tissue injury, the severe case has fracture, cerebral hemorrhage and even death. The situation that the best treatment time is missed due to the fact that the family is not contacted in time occurs. Therefore, it is necessary to design a system which can automatically monitor the fall of the old and help the old living alone to quickly contact with family in emergency.

At present, the fall monitoring methods for the elderly mainly include the following two types: the first method is to use a camera or an infrared thermal imaging sensor to collect human body images and perform form recognition through an image processing technology so as to determine whether a user falls down. The second method is to detect the acceleration of the human body by using an acceleration sensor to determine whether the user falls, and the method needs to wear a device and is inconvenient to use.
