An animal trap (1), in particular a rodent trap, for trapping and killing animals, the animal trap comprising: a catcher body (2); an electrical energy source (3), said electrical energy source (3) being connected to a high voltage circuit (4); at least a first killing plate (5) and a second killing plate (6), preferably a third killing plate (7), wherein the first killing plate (5) is connected to the high voltage circuit (4) and the second killing plate (6) is connected to the high voltage circuit (4), wherein preferably the third killing plate (7) is connected to the first killing plate (5) such that in case an animal steps on the first and second killing plates (5, 6) simultaneously the electric high voltage circuit (4) is closed and the animal gets an electric shock, characterized in that a shield (8), in particular an electrically conductive shield, is arranged between the second killing plate (6) and the trap body (2).

2. An animal trap (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the trap comprises a control unit (9) connected to the high voltage circuit (4) to control the emission of high voltage.

3. An animal trap (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the shield (8) is grounded to the first killing plate (5).

4. The animal trap (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that a shield is further arranged between the trap body (2) and the high voltage circuit (4).

5. An animal trap (1) as claimed in claim 4, characterized in that the shield (8) between the second killing plate (6) and the trap body (2) is connected to the shield (8) between the high-voltage circuit (4) and the trap body (2) to form a common shield.

6. The animal trap (1) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the trap body (2) is made of a plastic material, in particular a plastic material with electrically isolating properties.

7. Animal trap (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the killing plate (5, 6, 7) is made of an electrically conductive material, in particular of metal.

An animal trap (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the trap body (2) comprises an animal inlet end (10), wherein preferably the second killing plate (6) is arranged closer to the inlet end (10) than the first killing plate (5), in particular the third killing plate (7) is arranged closer to the inlet end () than the second killing plate (6).

Animal trap (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the trap body (2) has the shape of an elongated channel with a lower channel wall (11) below the killing plate (5, 6, 7) and an upper channel wall (12) opposite the lower channel wall (11), wherein the shield (8) is arranged at least on the inside of the upper channel wall (12) and the lower channel wall (11).

12. An animal trap (1) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first killing plate (5) and the third killing plate (7) are connected by a network that prevents triggering as soon as an animal contacts the second (6) and third (7) killing plates.

13. A method for protecting against undesired electric shocks by an animal trap (1) according to any of the preceding claims, the method comprising the step of shielding a second killing plate (6) of the trap (1) such that the current in the user's body is reduced when touching the trap (1) emitting high voltage.

14. Use of a shield (8) in an electronic animal trap (1), in particular in a trap according to any one of claims 1 to 12, for protecting a person from electric shock when touching the trap (1) from the outside.

Examples

Fig. 5 shows a perspective view of a trap 1 according to the invention. The trap 1 includes a trap main body 2. The trap body includes an inlet end 10 and a side wall 21. The rear end 15 includes an opening 15 b. The opening 15b makes the trap appear to have an open end when an animal enters the trap 1. Therefore, the animal will enter the trap 1 less hesitatively. The trap 1 further comprises a cover 16. The cover 16 encloses an electrical compartment 18 (see fig. 6).

Fig. 6 shows an exploded view of the trap 1. The cover 16 is detachably connected to the side wall 21 by means of a connecting device 17. The inner wall of the cover 16 is the upper channel wall. In addition, the cover 16 includes an intermediate wall 13 (not visible) that separates the electrical compartment 18 from the electrical shock compartment 19. A switch is arranged on top of the cover to close or switch on the trap 1.

Fig. 7 shows a perspective view of the trap 1 without the cover 16. The trap 1 comprises a lower channel wall 11 and a side wall 21. The channel of the trap is made up of wall 11, wall 21 and rear end 15. Inside the channel wall, the trap 1 comprises a shield 8. The trap 1 comprises a first killing plate 5 and a second killing plate 6. Of course, a three-plate arrangement is equally feasible. The shield 8 protects the user from high voltages when the trap is in use and activated.

Fig. 8 shows an exploded view of the trap 1 according to fig. 7. The killing plate 5, the killing plate 6 and the shield 8 are connected to the side wall 21 by a frame 20. The killing plate comprises connections to the electrical compartment to connect the energy source to the killing plate 5, 6.
