In the 21 st century, the technology of building dams by using covering layers is further improved, a batch of high earth-rock dams with the height of more than 100m are built on the deep covering layers, and meanwhile, a batch of high earth-rock dams with the height of 200m built on the deep covering layers are also being built or designed. The seepage stability and the seepage loss of a dam foundation of the earth-rock dam built on the deep covering layer are main problems to be solved by the seepage control of the dam foundation, the vertical seepage prevention is a reliable means for effectively solving the problems, and most of the earth-rock dams built on the covering layer adopt a seepage control measure mainly for vertical seepage prevention or vertical seepage prevention at present.

Therefore, it is necessary to develop a connection structure for the foundation gallery and the impervious wall of the earth impervious body rock-fill dam.
