Technical Field

The invention relates to a coated cutting tool and a cutting tool.

Background

Patent document 1 describes that a high-speed machining part having high wear resistance during high-speed machining can be obtained by ion-implanting a halogen element or the like into the surface of a cutting tool. However, the ion-implanted high-speed machining part has a problem that it shows high wear resistance and it is necessary to satisfy machining conditions of 150 m/min or more, and the wear resistance is lowered at a lower speed than that. In addition, in order to implement the invention disclosed in patent document 1, an apparatus and a process for ion implantation into the surface of the cutting tool are required, and there is also a problem that the cutting tool is expensive. Further, in the ion implantation, since ions enter the inside from the surface of the coating film, the chlorine concentration is high on the surface side of the coating film and the chlorine concentration is low on the base side of the coating film, and thus there is a problem that it is difficult to obtain a sufficient effect on the base side of the coating film.

Patent document 2 describes that, in a coated cutting tool having a coating layer, chlorine is contained in the coating film from a raw material gas during film formation even when the ion implantation step is not performed. Paragraph 0096 of patent document 2 describes that the residual chlorine content relates to the film quality of the hard coating, and the lower the residual chlorine content, the better the film quality.

Patent document 3 describes a cutting tool in which the chlorine content of the outermost layer of the coating is higher than that of Ti (C) located on the base side of the outermost layerx1Ny1Oz1) The layer is low.

Detailed Description

Hereinafter, the coated cutting tool and the cutting tool of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, for the sake of convenience of explanation, the drawings referred to below are simplified to show only essential parts.

< coated cutting tool >

Hereinafter, the coated cutting tool of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, for convenience of explanation, only the main components necessary for explaining the embodiment are shown in the drawings referred to below in a simplified manner. Therefore, the coated cutting tool of the present invention can include any structural member not shown in the drawings referred to. The dimensions of the members in the drawings do not faithfully represent the actual dimensions of the structural members, the dimensional ratios of the members, and the like. These aspects are also the same in the cutting tool described later.

The coated cutting tool 1 of the present invention has a quadrangular plate shape having a first face 3 (upper face in fig. 1), a second face 5 (side face in fig. 1) and a cutting edge 7 on at least a part of a ridge line where the first face 3 and the second face 5 intersect. The first surface 3 is a so-called rake surface. The second surface is a so-called flank surface.

In the coated cutting tool 1 of the present invention, the entire outer periphery of the first surface 3 may be the cutting edge 7, but the coated cutting tool 1 is not limited to such a configuration. For example, the cutting edge 7 may be provided only on one side of the first face 3 of the quadrangle, or the cutting edge 7 may be provided partially.

The size of the coated cutting tool 1 is not particularly limited, and for example, the length of one side of the first surface 3 may be 3 to 20 mm. The height from the first surface 3 to the third surface 8 on the opposite side of the first surface 3 may be about 5 to 20 mm.

As shown in fig. 2, the coated cutting tool 1 of the present invention includes a substrate 9 and a coating layer 11 applied to a surface of the substrate 9. The substrate 9 may be cemented carbide, cermet, cBN, ceramic, or the like. The coating 11 may cover the entire surface of the substrate 9, or may cover only a part thereof. When the coating 11 covers only a portion of the substrate 9, it can be said that the coating 11 is located on at least a portion of the substrate 9.

The coating 11 of the coated cutting tool 1 according to the invention is, as shown in fig. 2, located on the substrate 9. The coating layer 11 has, from the substrate 9 side: first layer 11a containing TiCN, containing Al2O3And a third layer 11c containing at least one of TiN and TiCN.

Although fig. 2 shows an example in which the first layer 11a is located on the surface of the substrate 9, for example, a TiN layer (not shown) may be located on the surface of the substrate 9. In addition, there may be other layers between the first layer 11a and the second layer 11 b. In addition, there may be other layers between the second layer 11b and the third layer 11 c.

The first layer 11a and the third layer 11c each contain Cl. The Cl content means that Cl is detected when measurement is performed using a WDS (wavelength dispersive X-ray analysis device) on the cross section of the coating layer 11.

Let the amount of Cl (atomic%) contained in the first layer 11a be a first amount of Cl, the amount of Cl (atomic%) contained in the second layer 11b be a second amount of Cl, and the amount of Cl (atomic%) contained in the third layer 11c be a third amount of Cl.

In the coated tool 1 of the present invention, the first amount of Cl and the third amount of Cl are greater than the second amount of Cl. In other words, the first layer 11a and the third layer 11c contain Cl in an amount larger than that of the second layer 11 b. The Cl content of the second layer 11b may be equal to or less than the detection limit.

The first Cl amount is greater than 0.2 atomic% and 2 atomic% or less. The second Cl amount is greater than 0.2 atomic% and less than 2 atomic%.

The first layer 11a, the second layer 11b, and the third layer 11c may be all single layers or may be formed by stacking a plurality of layers.

The so-called TiCN in the first layer 11a contains Ti and C and N, and if C and N are contained, the ratio of C to N does not need to be 1 to 1.

The second layer 11b contains Al2O3Of (2) a layer of (a). Al (Al)2O3May be alpha-Al2O3Or kappa-Al2O3

The third layer 11c may contain both TiN and TiCN. Further, one of TiN and TiCN may be contained. Also, the TiCN may contain C and N, and the ratio of C to N does not need to be 1 to 1.

The thickness of the first layer 11a may be 5 μm or more and 20 μm or less. The thickness of the second layer 11b may be 2 μm or more and 12 μm or less. The thickness of the third layer 11c may be 0.5 μm or more and 3 μm or less.

The thickness of the coating layer 11 may be, for example, 5 μm or more and 30 μm or less. The thickness of the coating 11 may be constant or may vary depending on the position.

An example in which the third layer 11c is a multilayer is shown in fig. 3. The third layer 11c has a first third layer 11c1 and a second third layer 11c2 on the first third layer 11c1 from the side close to the substrate 9.

As a specific example, the first third layer 11c1 contains TiCN, and the second third layer 11c2 contains TiN. The first third layer 11c1 may contain TiN, and the second third layer 11c2 may contain TiCN.

When the third layer 11c is formed of a plurality of layers as described above, color adjustment can be performed arbitrarily, and there is an advantage that it can be easily recognized when a part of the third layer 11c is exposed.

The first layer 11a may be a multilayer. For example, a first layer (not shown) and a second first layer (not shown) may be provided on the first layer from the side close to the base 9. The first layer may be an MT-TiCN layer. The second first layer may be an HT-TiCN layer.

The second layer 11b may be a multilayer. For example, a first second layer (not shown) and a second layer (not shown) on the first second layer may be provided from the side close to the substrate 9. The first and second layers may contain α -Al2O3. The first and second layers may also contain kappa-Al2O3. alpha-Al contained in the first and second layers2O3The amount of (c) may also be different.

The Cl content of each layer may be measured in the cross section of the coating layer 11 by using, for example, wavelength dispersive EPMA (JXA-8530F) manufactured by Japan electronics.

The coated cutting tool 1 of the present invention has the above-described structure and is excellent in chipping resistance. Further, the wear resistance is high both in low speed processing at a processing speed of less than 150 m/min and in high speed processing at a processing speed of 150 m/min or more.

In the coated cutting tool 1 of the present invention, the first Cl amount may be 0.7 atomic% or less. With such a configuration, the balance between wear resistance and chipping resistance is excellent.

In addition, in the coated cutting tool 1 according to the present invention, the first Cl amount may be more than 0.7 atomic%. With such a configuration, the chipping resistance is particularly excellent.

In the coated cutting tool 1 of the present invention, the third Cl amount may be 0.7 atomic% or less. With such a configuration, the balance between wear resistance and chipping resistance is excellent.

In addition, in the coated cutting tool 1 according to the present invention, the third Cl amount may be more than 0.7 atomic%. With such a configuration, the chipping resistance is particularly excellent.

In the coated cutting tool 1 of the present invention, the third Cl amount may be 0.9 atomic% or more. With such a configuration, the chipping resistance is further improved.

In addition, in the coated cutting tool 1 according to the invention, the third Cl amount may also be larger than the first Cl amount. With such a configuration, the chipping resistance is excellent.

Next, the cutting insert of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

As shown in fig. 4, the cutting insert 101 of the present invention is, for example, a rod-shaped body extending from a first end (upper end in fig. 4) toward a second end (lower end in fig. 4).

As shown in fig. 4, the cutting insert 101 includes: a shank 105, the shank 105 having a length that continues from a first end (front end) to a second end, and having a catch 103 located at a first end side; the above-mentioned coated cutting tool 1 is located in the clamping groove 103. The cutting tool 101 has the coated tool 1 having excellent chipping resistance, and therefore can perform stable cutting for a long period of time.

The pocket 103 is a portion where the coated cutting tool 1 is mounted, and has a support surface parallel to the lower surface of the shank 105, and a restricting side surface perpendicular or inclined to the support surface. The engaging groove 103 is open at the first end side of the shank 105.

The coating cutter 1 is located in the clamping groove 103. In this case, the lower surface of the coated cutting tool 1 may directly contact the pocket 103, and a spacer (not shown) may be interposed between the coated cutting tool 1 and the pocket 103.

The coated cutting tool 1 is attached to the shank 105 so that at least a part of a portion used as the cutting edge 7 on a ridge line where the first surface 3 as a rake surface and the second surface 5 as a flank surface intersect with each other protrudes outward from the shank 105. In the present embodiment, the coated cutting tool 1 is attached to the shank 105 by the fixing bolt 107. That is, the coated cutting tool 1 is attached to the holder 105 by inserting the fixing bolt 107 into the through hole 17 of the coated cutting tool 1, inserting the tip of the fixing bolt 107 into a bolt hole (not shown) formed in the engaging groove 103, and tightening the bolt portions.

As a material of the shank 105, steel, cast iron, or the like can be used. Among these members, high-toughness steel can be used.

In the present embodiment, a cutting tool used for so-called turning is exemplified. Examples of the turning include inner diameter machining, outer diameter machining, and grooving. The cutting tool is not limited to use in turning. For example, the coated cutting tool 1 of the above-described embodiment may be used as a cutting tool for hobbing.

< manufacturing method >

The method for manufacturing the coated cutting tool of the present invention will be described below. First, a substrate having a predetermined shape is prepared. The substrate may be made of WC-containing cemented carbide, TiCN-containing cermet, boron nitride, silicon nitride, or the like.

Then, a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer are formed on the surface of the substrate. The layers may be formed by CVD.

Preferable film formation conditions when forming the first layer on the substrate are as follows: titanium tetrachloride (TiCl) is contained in a ratio of 10 to 20 vol% in a mixed gas composition in which a film forming temperature is 600 to 940 ℃ inclusive and a pressure is 5 to 25kPa inclusive4) A gas containing nitrogen (N) at a ratio of 1 to 50 vol%2) A gas containing acetonitrile (CH) in a ratio of 0.1 to 3.0 vol%3CN) gas containing hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas at a ratio of 1.0 to 15.0 vol%, with the balance being hydrogen (H)2) The gas is circulated through the mixed gas formed as above to form a film. Among these conditions, in particular by controlling the titanium tetrachloride (TiCl)4) The amount of the gas can be controlled to control the first Cl amount. If titanium tetrachloride (TiCl) is contained in the film-forming gas4) When the ratio of the gas is large, the first Cl amount increases. In addition, when the film formation temperature is low, the first Cl amount increases. In addition, as the carbon source, acetonitrile (CH) can be used so that the carbon content of the above composition does not change3CN) gas to methane (CH)4) Gas, or a mixture of both. In addition, the first and second substrates are,in order to control the structure of the first layer, two or more layers of the film may be formed.

Next, film formation conditions of the second layer are described. As an example of specific film forming conditions, a film is formed at a film forming temperature of 700 ℃ to 1010 ℃ inclusive and at a pressure of 5kPa to 10kPa inclusive by flowing a mixed gas of: containing aluminum trichloride (AlCl) at a ratio of 0.5 to 20.0 vol%3) The gas contains hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas at a rate of 0.5 to 5.0 vol%, and carbon dioxide (CO) at a rate of 0.5 to 5.0 vol%2) A gas containing hydrogen sulfide (H) in a ratio of 0 to 0.5 vol%2S) gas, the balance being hydrogen (H)2) Gas mixture of gases. Under the condition, aluminum trichloride (AlCl) is controlled3) Gas amount, second Cl amount can be controlled. The second Cl amount may be smaller than the first Cl amount and the third Cl amount, and may be appropriately adjusted according to the first Cl amount and the third Cl amount.

Next, film formation conditions of the third layer are described. The third layer may contain at least one of TiN and TiCN. First, an example in which the third layer contains TiN will be described, and next, an example in which the third layer contains TiCN will be described.

For forming a third layer containing TiN, the film is formed at a film forming temperature of 600 ℃ to 940 ℃ inclusive and a pressure of 8kPa to 50kPa inclusive by flowing a mixed gas of: the mixed gas composition contains titanium tetrachloride (TiCl) at a ratio of 10 to 20 vol%4) A gas containing nitrogen (N) at a ratio of 10 to 50 vol%2) A gas containing hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas at a ratio of 1.0 vol% to 15.0 vol%, and hydrogen (H) for the remainder2) Gas mixture of gases. Under these conditions, titanium tetrachloride (TiCl) is adjusted4) Gas amount, the third Cl amount can be controlled.

For forming a third layer containing TiCN, a mixed gas is passed through the film formation at a film formation temperature of 600 ℃ to 940 ℃ and a pressure of 5kPa to 25kPa to form a film: the composition of the mixed gas is 10 to 20 vol%The following ratio contains titanium tetrachloride (TiCl)4) A gas containing nitrogen (N) at a ratio of 1 to 50 vol%2) A gas containing acetonitrile (CH) in a ratio of 0.1 to 6.0 vol%3CN) gas containing hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas at a ratio of 1.0 to 15.0 vol%, with the balance being hydrogen (H)2) Gas mixture of gases. By controlling the titanium tetrachloride (TiCl) in the condition4) Gas, the third Cl amount can be controlled.

By controlling the film formation conditions in this manner and producing a coating film containing a predetermined amount of chlorine, the chlorine concentration gradient in the coating layer occurring during ion implantation can be suppressed.

[ examples ] A method for producing a compound

A coated tool was produced by forming a coating layer having a structure shown in table 2 on the surface of a substrate made of a CNMG120408 PG-shaped cemented carbide under the conditions shown in table 1. The first TiCN film was formed at a film formation temperature of 750 ℃ and a pressure of 9 kPa. The second layer was formed at 980 ℃ under a pressure of 9 kPa. The third layer was formed at 850 ℃ and 12kPa as in the case of TiN or TiCN films.

[ TABLE 1 ]

[ TABLE 2 ]

Then, the cross section of the coated cutter was mirror-polished, and the Cl content of each layer was measured using wavelength dispersive EPMA (JXA-8530F) manufactured by japan electronics. The measured values are shown in table 2. The first, second and third layers of each sample were the same in thickness. Specifically, the thickness of the first layer was 8 μm. The thickness of the second layer was 6 μm. The thickness of the third layer was 1.5 μm.

Between the substrate and the first layer, a thickness of 1 μ is providedAnd m of TiN layer. The TiN layer was formed at a temperature of 750 ℃ and a pressure of 9kPa, and titanium tetrachloride (TiCl) was contained as a mixed gas composition in a ratio of 8 vol%4) A gas containing nitrogen (N) at a ratio of 10 vol%2) Gas, balance hydrogen (H)2) The gas composition is formed by flowing the mixed gas.

Between the first layer and the second layer, a (Ti, Al) CNO layer is formed. The (Ti, Al) CNO layer was first formed under the film formation conditions for producing TiCNO. As an example of specific film forming conditions, film formation was carried out at a film forming temperature of 850 ℃ and a pressure of 12kPa by passing the following mixed gas: titanium tetrachloride (TiCl) was contained at a ratio of 6 vol%4) A gas containing nitrogen (N) at a ratio of 8 vol%2) Gas containing methane (CH) at a ratio of 2 vol%4) Gas or acetonitrile (CH)3CN) gas containing carbon monoxide (CO) gas at a rate of 0.6 vol%, with the balance being hydrogen (H)2) Gas mixture of gases. After the film formation, the Al component of the second layer described later diffuses to become (Ti, Al) CNO.

Using the obtained coated tool, a cutting test was performed under the following processing conditions.

A blade: CNMG120408PG

Steel material: SCM 440-4 grooves

Evaluation conditions were as follows: vc300m/min, f3mm/rev, ap1.5mm, wet.

A cutting test was performed with the first surface of the coated tool as a rake surface. The cutting test is a so-called chipping resistance evaluation test. The life of the insert is judged by the number of impacts until the cutting edge tip is chipped or damaged.

The coated cutting tool of the invention has excellent collapse resistance and long service life.

The coated cutting tool and the cutting tool of the present invention are not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various improvements and modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
