Technical Field

The present invention relates to a label fastener of the type comprising a long flexible body defining two ends, on which there are female-type and male-type fixing means; the tag fastener is characterized in that the elongated flexible body is longitudinally twisted on itself and made of a cellulosic material or a by-product thereof, and/or the fixing means is made of a biodegradable plastic material.

Background

Known in the art are different devices for hanging signs, in particular fasteners.

Thus, british patent GB2143782 entitled "FASTENER AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME" in the name OF TOSKA CO LTD in 1984 belongs to the field; this patent relates to one type of attachment that includes a female member, a male member, and a cord and a set of fasteners; the female member has an opening, the male member can be coupled to the opening of the female member, the cord attaches the female member and the male member, and the set of fasteners includes a plurality of said fasteners attached to one another. The concave member and the convex member are molded from a thermoplastic synthetic resin and fused with the cord.

Disclosure of Invention

The present invention is in the field of signage or label fasteners.

The closest document is british patent GB 2143782.

This patent solves the problem of using long ropes (0.5m, 1 m).

To this end, this patent proposes a special over-molding of the fixture.

On the other hand, this patent has the drawback that it cannot be made of biodegradable materials (such as cellulose, and more particularly paper), since in the case of cords overmolded according to this method, the cord will tear; furthermore, the fixtures are not recyclable, as they are made of plastic material.

The present invention solves the problem of making fasteners of any size from biodegradable materials, such as cellulose, which are considered as ecomaterials that can be easily recycled after use, which as a long flexible body makes cellulose or its by-products sufficiently strong and not prone to tearing. The fastener also prevents theft of, for example, clothing items having the fastener and tag, because the fastener is difficult to remove.

This is solved by twisting the cellulose which provides strength.

On the other hand, the present application also solves the problem of ecologically reusing the fixation device, since the attachment is made of biodegradable plastic material.

The object of the present invention is a label fastener of the type comprising a long flexible body defining two ends, on which there are female-type and male-type fixing means; the tag fastener is characterized in that the elongated flexible body is longitudinally twisted on itself and made of a cellulosic material or a by-product thereof, and/or the fixing means is made of a biodegradable plastic material.

Detailed Description

Fig. 1 shows a long flexible body 1 with ends 2, 3 and fixation means 4, 5.

Fig. 2 shows a long flexible body 1 with a core 6 and cellulose 7.

Fig. 3 shows a long flexible body 1 with a weakened zone 10 due to shrinkage 10, an end 3 and a protruding fixture 5.

Fig. 4 shows a long flexible body 1 with a weakened zone 10 due to shrinkage and wear, an end 3 and a protruding fixture 5.

Fig. 5 shows a long flexible body 1, a female fastener 4 with a wall 11, and a male fastener 5 with a wall 12.

The tag fastener of the invention comprises a long flexible body 1, the long flexible body 1 defining two ends 2, 3, with fixing means 4, 5 on both ends. Thus, when a user wishes to close the fastener, the male fastener piece 5 (referred to as an "arrow") moves toward the female fastener piece 4 (referred to as a "head"), thereby closing the fastener.

The long flexible body 1 twists longitudinally itself and is made of a material such as cellulose 7 or its by-products (e.g., paper).

Such twisting allows imparting a strong but flexible structure to the long flexible body 1, preventing the body from easily tearing, and at the same time being adaptable to the configuration of the intended target (e.g. garment).

Optionally, the invention has been configured in such a way that at least a part of the long flexible body 1 comprises a weakening zone 10. The weakened area 10 allows a user to easily tear off the fastener and remove it from, for example, a garment; and at the same time, if the fastener breaks, it cannot be reused (a feature particularly considered in connection with theft).

The weakening zone 10 can be obtained by shrinking (i.e. pressing the long flexible body 1 until collapsing) or by wear (i.e. by using heat generated by the die that moulds the end portions 2, 3) or by a combination of both (i.e. by shrinking and by using wear caused by heat).

One of the manufacturing options is to have the zone of weakness 10 on at least one of the ends 2 or 3, as the mould used to prepare the ends 2, 3 can be used to configure the zone of weakness 10 by: the wear is achieved by heat and by the moment when the mould is closed to squeeze and collapse the long flexible body 1.

Alternatively, to provide greater strength to the long flexible body 1, a core 6 of degradable fibers has been placed inside the long flexible body 1, the core 6 being wrapped by cellulose 7 or a by-product of said cellulose.

There is also a possibility that the degradable fiber is of a natural type, thereby facilitating its recovery.

The natural degradable fiber may be a viscose fiber (viscosa).

The fixation means 4, 5 are made of a biodegradable plastic material. Thus, ecological recycling of the fixtures 4 and 5 can be realized.

If higher ecological performance is desired, the inventors believe that the walls 11, 12 should not exceed 2mm thick for biodegradable and degradable plastics (fig. 5). This is because the inventors have found that such a thickness is the maximum of the plastic that meets the dual criteria (being biodegradable and degradable and at the same time being able to act as a fixing means 4, 5 for the fastener); i.e. sufficiently robust and perform its task as a fixed appliance, and at the same time be recyclable with respect to the environment. Beyond this 2mm thickness, the plastic properties are greatly impaired.

An example of a biodegradable and degradable plastic material that can be used is polylactic acid.

The present invention describes a novel tag fastener. The examples provided herein should not limit the invention, which may have different applications and/or adaptations, all of which fall within the scope of the following claims.
