Technical Field

The present invention relates to a child carrier, and more particularly to an expandable child carrier.

Background

Existing compact multi-position strollers include two baby seats arranged in a fore-and-aft direction. In response to the consideration of the compactness, the conventional cart has a small wheelbase (i.e., the distance between the rotating shafts of the front and rear wheels). However, in view of stability, the vertical projection of the center of gravity of each infant seat is preferably located within an area bounded by the axes of rotation of the front and rear wheels of the stroller. As a result, the space between the two baby seats of the stroller becomes smaller. The above-mentioned prior art pushchairs will be modified to have a larger wheelbase, so that the space between the two baby seats of the pushchair will become larger. However, its greater length (due to the greater wheelbase) is not required when only one infant seat is used.

Disclosure of Invention

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an expandable child carrier that overcomes at least one of the disadvantages of the prior art.

The invention provides an expandable child carrier, which comprises a base frame, a pin joint frame, at least one first wheel unit, at least one second wheel unit, a handle and an auxiliary connecting rod. The pivoting frame is pivoted to the base frame. A first wheel unit is mounted to the base frame. The second wheel unit is mounted on the pivot frame. A distance between the second wheel unit and the first wheel unit will be adjusted as the pivot mount pivots relative to the base frame. The handle is rotatably arranged on the base frame. The auxiliary connecting rod has two opposite ends respectively pivoted to the pivoting frame and the handle. Wherein when the handle is subjected to a force in one of a clockwise direction and a counterclockwise direction, the auxiliary link adjusts the pivot frame to pivot relative to the base frame in a retracted position and an extended position, and the distance between the second wheel unit and the first wheel unit is smaller in the retracted position than in the extended position.

In the extendable child carrier of the present invention, a distance between the ground and the base frame when the pivot bracket is in the retracted position is equal to a distance between the ground and the base frame when the pivot bracket is in the extended position.

In the extendable child carrier of the present invention, a distance between the ground and the base frame when the pivot bracket is in the retracted position is different from a distance between the ground and the base frame when the pivot bracket is in the extended position.

The extensible child carrier further comprises a latch and a positioning seat, wherein the positioning seat is fixedly installed on the base frame and is provided with at least two positioning grooves, the auxiliary connecting rod is matched with the handle, the pivoting frame and the base frame to form a four-bar mechanism, the latch is movably installed on the handle and is detachably connected with the positioning grooves to position the pivoting frame relative to the base frame.

The extendable child carrier further comprises an operating member movably mounted to the handle, the operating member being interlockingly connected to the latch member, and the operating member moving to interlock the latch member to disengage from one of the positioning slots, thereby allowing the handle to pivot relative to the base frame.

The extensible child carrier further comprises a mounting seat and a mounting seat stop block, wherein the mounting seat is fixedly arranged on the base frame so that a seat can be detachably mounted, the mounting seat stop block can be arranged on the pivoting frame in a linkage mode, when the pivoting frame is in the contraction position, the mounting seat stop block blocks the mounting seat to prevent the seat from being mounted on the mounting seat, and when the pivoting frame is in the expansion position, the mounting seat stop block releases the blocking of the mounting seat to allow the seat to be mounted on the mounting seat.

The expandable child carrier of the present invention, the first wheel unit includes a first housing rotatably mounted to the base frame, and a first wheel rotatably mounted to the first housing.

The invention has the beneficial effects that: when the seat is not needed, the seat can be removed from the mount and the pivot brackets can be moved to the retracted position so that the expandable child carrier can be relatively compact. When the seat is needed, the pivot frame is moved to the extended position and the seat is mounted to the mount. Because the distance between the second wheel unit and the first wheel unit is relatively large when the pivot brackets are in the extended position, a space between the base frame and the seat is relatively large.

Detailed Description

The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and examples.

Referring to fig. 1 and 2, the first embodiment of the extendable child carrier of the present invention comprises a main frame unit 2, a pivot frame unit 3, at least one first wheel unit 6 and two second wheel units 7. In one embodiment, the expandable child carrier may be a stroller.

The main frame unit 2 includes a base frame 21, a handle frame 22 connected to a front portion of the base frame 21 and extending upward and rearward, a first mount block 23 mounted to the handle frame 22, and a first seat 24 fixably or detachably mounted to the first mount block 23.

The first wheel unit 6 is mounted to the front portion of the base frame 21. In one embodiment, the first wheel unit 6 may be a rotating wheel assembly and includes a first housing 61 rotatably mounted to the front portion of the base frame 21, and a first wheel 62 rotatably mounted to the first housing 61.

The pivot frame unit 3 includes a pivot frame 31 pivoted to the rear of the base frame 21 and capable of pivoting relative to the base frame 21 about a pivot axis a (see fig. 2). In an embodiment, the pivot frame 31 includes two L-shaped pivot frame members 311 that pivot at laterally opposite ends corresponding to the rear of the base frame 21, and a shaft 312 (see fig. 2) connecting the pivot frame members 311. The composition of the pivot frame 31 is not limited thereto.

The second wheel unit 7 is mounted on the pivot bracket 31. In one embodiment, each second wheel unit 7 includes a second wheel 71 rotatably mounted to a corresponding pivot frame member 311. A distance between the rotation axis of the second wheel 71 of the second wheel unit 7 and the rotation axis of the first wheel 62 of the first wheel unit 6 will be adjusted as the pivot bracket 31 pivots relative to the base frame 21.

The expandable child carrier may also include an operating unit 5 (see fig. 2) operable to pivot the pivot bracket 31 relative to the base frame 21. The operation unit 5 includes a handle 51, an operation member 52, a latch 53 and a positioning seat 54.

The handle 51 is mounted to the pivot frame 31 so as to be interlocked therewith, and is spaced from the pivot axis a of the pivot frame 31 pivoting with respect to the base frame 21.

The positioning seat 54 is fixedly installed on the base frame 21 and is formed with two positioning grooves 541.

The latch 53 is movably mounted to the handle 51 and detachably engages one of the positioning slots 541 to position the pivot frame 31 relative to the base frame 21 in a retracted position (see fig. 2 and 4) in which the distance between the respective axles of the first wheel 61 and the second wheel 71 is relatively small, or in an extended position (see fig. 3 and 5) in which the distance between the respective axles of the first wheel 61 and the second wheel 71 is relatively large.

The operating member 52 is movably mounted on the handle 51 and is associated with the latch 53 by a transmission mechanism (not shown), such as a cam mechanism or a linkage mechanism. In one embodiment, the operating member 52 is in transmission connection with the latch 53, i.e., by means of the transmission mechanism, the rotation of the operating member 52 relative to the handle 51 in a first actuating direction R1 (see fig. 2) will move the latch 53 in a first moving direction D1 to disengage from one of the positioning slots 541, so as to allow the pivot frame 31 to move between the retracted position and the extended position relative to the base frame 21. In a variant, the operating member 52 can be depressed relative to the handle 51 to drive the displacement of the latch member 53 through the transmission mechanism.

Referring to fig. 4 and 5, preferably, the positioning groove 541 of the positioning seat 54 is configured such that, when the pivot frame 31 is in the retracted position, the distance between the ground (not shown) and the rear portion of the base frame 21 is the same as the distance between the ground and the rear portion of the base frame 21 when the pivot frame 31 is in the extended position (see the triangle drawn by the dotted line in fig. 4 and 5). Therefore, the main frame unit 2 maintains the same horizontal height when the pivot frame 31 is at the retracted position and the extended position, so as to maintain the same seat angle. Thereby, the vertical direction of a center pin of the first wheel perpendicular to the ground surface is also maintained, and the first wheel can be rotated correctly. It should be noted that, in a variation, the position or the number of the positioning slots 541 of the positioning seat 54 may be modified such that the pivot frame 31 may be located at different positions relative to the base frame 21, and the distance between the ground and the base frame 21 when the pivot frame 31 is in the retracted position is different from the distance between the ground and the base frame 21 when the pivot frame 31 is in the extended position.

In one embodiment, the handle 51 may be designed such that a user can push the handle 51 forward to move the pivot frame 31 toward the expanded position and pull the handle 51 backward to move the pivot frame 31 toward the contracted position.

Referring again to fig. 1 and 2, the expandable child carrier may further include a second mounting module 4 for removably mounting a second seat 8. In one embodiment, the second mounting module 4 includes two mounting seats 41 correspondingly and fixedly mounted at two horizontally opposite ends of the rear portion of the base frame 21, and two mounting seat stoppers 42 correspondingly and interlockingly mounted on the pivoting frame members 311 of the pivoting frame 31. Preferably, when the pivot frame 31 is in the retracted position, each of the two mount stoppers 42 correspondingly stops one of the two mounts 41 to prevent the second seat 8 from being mounted on the mount 41, and when the pivot frame 31 is in the extended position, each of the two mount stoppers 42 correspondingly releases one of the two mounts 41 to allow the second seat 8 to be mounted on the mount 41. In one embodiment, the positioning seat 54 of the operation unit 5 is integrally formed with one of the mounting seats 41, and the handle 51 is interlockingly mounted on the mounting seat stopper 42. In a modified embodiment, the second mounting module 4 can be mounted to the pivot frame 31 in a linkage manner, and the second seat 8 can be disposed only when the pivot frame 31 is in the extended position.

The advantages of the expandable child carrier of the present invention are as follows:

1. when the second seat 8 is not needed, the second seat 8 can be removed from the mounting base 41 of the second mounting module 4 and the pivot bracket 31 can be moved to the retracted position so that the expandable child carrier can be relatively compact.

2. When both the first and second seats 24, 8 are needed, the pivot frame 31 is moved to the expanded position and the second seat 8 is mounted to the mounting seat 41 of the second mounting module 4. Since the distance between the respective rotation axes of the first wheel 61 and the second wheel 71 is relatively large when the pivot frame 31 is located at the expanded position, a space between the first seat 24 and the second seat 8 is relatively large.

Referring to fig. 6 and 7, a second embodiment of the expandable child carrier of the present invention is different from the first embodiment in the aspect of the operation unit 5. The operating unit 5 of the second embodiment includes a handle 51, an operating member 52, a latch 53, a positioning seat 54 and an auxiliary link 55.

The handle 51 is pivotally connected to the base frame 21 at a pivot point. In one embodiment, the handle 51 has a grip portion 511.

The positioning seat 54 is fixedly installed on the base frame 21 and is formed with two positioning grooves 541.

The latch 53 is movably mounted to the handle 51 and detachably engages one of the positioning slots 541 to position the pivot frame 31 relative to the base frame 21. In one embodiment, the latch 53 is movable in the direction of the handle 51.

The operating member 52 is movably mounted to the handle 51 and is associated with the latch member 53. In one embodiment, the operating element 52 and the latch 53 are coupled, that is, the operating element 52 is coupled to the latch 53 such that the downward pressing of the operating element 52 relative to the handle 51 in a second moving direction D2 (see fig. 6) can displace the latch 53 in the second moving direction to disengage the latch 53 from one of the positioning slots 541, thereby allowing the handle 51 to pivot relative to the base frame 21.

The auxiliary link 55 has two opposite ends respectively pivoted to the pivot frame 31 and the handle 51, and forms a four-bar linkage together with the pivot frame 31, the handle 51 and the base frame 21. Therefore, the latch 53 detachably engages one of the positioning slots 541 of the positioning seat 54 to position the pivot frame 31 in a retracted position (see fig. 6) or an extended position (see fig. 7) relative to the base frame 21. Preferably, the auxiliary link 55 cooperates with the pivot frame 31, the handle 51 and the base frame 21 to form a parallel four-bar linkage.

In one embodiment, the holding portion 511 of the handle 51 is located at an end opposite to the pivot point of the auxiliary link 55, so that a user can push the holding portion 511 forward (i.e., rotate the handle 51 in a second actuating direction R2 (see fig. 6)) to move the pivot frame 31 toward the expanded position, and pull the holding portion 511 backward to move the pivot frame 31 toward the contracted position. In a variation, the holding portion 511 may be located at the same end as the pivot point of the auxiliary link 55, so that the user can pull the holding portion 511 backward (i.e., rotate the handle 51 in the second actuating direction R2) to move the pivot frame 31 toward the expanded position.
