The invention also relates to a timepiece, in particular a wristwatch, comprising such a case.

The invention also relates to a method for assembling such an orientable screw-on crown.

The invention also relates to a method for mounting such an orientable screw-on crown on a watch case.

Background

Screwing crowns are commonly used to equip watches with the purpose of enhancing the waterproofness of the watch at the location of the passage of the control mechanism, such as the winding stem or the control lever. This type of crown is characterized by the possibility of occupying an unscrewing position, in which the watch can be wound, set manually, adjusted or otherwise operated, and a tightening position; in this screwed position, the crown is screwed and locked on a pipe which is pressed or screwed into the middle part of the watch case, so as to compress the seal, thus enhancing the waterproofness of the watch. The tightening position thus corresponds to the normal position when the watch is worn, and there is more or less always wear of the seal.

The manufacture and assembly of these screw crowns on watch cases is well known. However, the method for assembling these crown caps is not suitable for providing inscriptions or designs on their end faces, such as logos, certificates of quality or similar markings, or indeed summaries, or for non-rotatable crown caps, since it is desirable for the user, or at least the after-market personnel, to be able to adjust the angular indexing of such crown caps in the tightening position according to the particular orientation desired.

In fact, the known assembly methods are generally not suitable for bringing the crown in a defined orientation with respect to the case after tightening, which may impair the aesthetic appearance of the case. This is clearly unacceptable when these crowns are installed on luxury high-end products.

EP 2592500 in the name of the lawless company describes a watch case comprising an intermediate part, a first pipe equipped with first indexing means, a control crown comprising a cap with a unique mark on the front and a pipe part for connection to a watch movement, a second pipe designed to be rigidly connected to the intermediate part and to receive said pipe part. The control crown and the first tubular comprise respective threading means enabling the threaded connection of one to the other. A second indexing means integral with the intermediate member is designed to engage the first indexing means of the first tubular element. Furthermore, the first and second pipe elements are formed such that the rigid connection of the second pipe element with the intermediate part effects an axial locking on the first pipe element relative to the intermediate part, the stop surface, in particular the stop surface of the first pipe element, being in contact with the stop surface, in particular the stop surface of the intermediate part or the stop surface of a ring fastened or rigidly connected to the intermediate part.

EP 1857892 in the name of the stevens group management services company describes a timepiece comprising a case and a mirror which together define an aperture for a movement, and further comprising a rotatable element actuated by a control mechanism comprising a stem which traverses radially the case, a crown fitted on a first proximal end of the stem, and a pinion fitted rotationally integrally on a second distal end of the stem. The control mechanism comprises an axial fastening member of the pinion with the rod, arranged on the proximal side of the rod. The rod/pinion/fastening member assembly includes an axial locking means of the fastening member on the rod, an axial locking means of the fastening member on the pinion, and a radial locking means of the fastening member on one of the pinion/rod elements.
