Technical Field

The present invention relates to a vacuum cleaner appliance, i.e. to a vacuum cleaner nozzle in the case of a vacuum cleaner with an independent nozzle, or to a robotic vacuum cleaner with an integrated nozzle. The invention also relates to a vacuum cleaner provided with a vacuum cleaner nozzle.

Background

WO0226097 discloses a floor tool for vacuum cleaning floor surfaces comprising a sole plate having a suction channel. The suction channel is delimited on at least one side by a working edge for engagement with a floor surface. A lint (lint) cleaner is positioned beside the suction channel and is separated from the suction channel by a working edge. The lint pickers are mounted on a surface of the floor tool which is inclined with respect to the plane of the working edge. A lint picker is a strip of material in which a plurality of tufts of nap are fixed. All of the tufts are aligned in the same direction relative to the base plate. The lint pickers act as one-way gates, allowing lint to pass under the lint pickers as the floor tool is pushed along the ground, but blocking lint as the floor tool is pulled backwards. Repeated forward and backward motion of the floor tool across the floor surface captures the lint and balls it up so that it can be sucked by the floor tool. Each lint picker is mounted within a recessed portion of the sole plate. However, the pick-up performance of such tools is limited.

DE102012010075 discloses a floor cleaning element (e.g. a floor nozzle) for a vacuum cleaner. The element has a front brush bar comprising diagonal bristles, the free ends of which face towards the middle of the receiving opening, and a rear brush bar which is narrower than the front brush bar in a direction transverse to the rear edge and/or the front edge. Front and rear suction channels are provided between the front and rear edges and the front and rear brush bars, respectively. The front suction channel and the rear suction channel extend along the front edge and the rear edge, respectively, and the air flow is in communication with the receiving opening.

Disclosure of Invention

It is, inter alia, an object of the present invention to provide an improved vacuum cleaner appliance. The invention is defined by the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments are defined in the dependent claims.

One aspect of the invention provides a vacuum cleaner appliance comprising a suction opening, and a lint picker on one side of the suction opening, wherein the lint picker is mounted in a recess having a plurality of edges forming an edge directed towards the suction opening along a line which is at an angle of between 20 ° and 70 ° to a longitudinal axis of the suction opening. Preferably, the lint picker has a plurality of triangular shaped elements. Preferably, the lint picker has a plurality of elements having a first boundary and a second boundary along a line which is at an angle of between 20 ° and 70 ° to the longitudinal axis of the suction opening, the angle between the first boundary and the second boundary not exceeding 120 °.

Without wishing to be bound by theory, one reason why the performance of prior art tools is not ideal may be that coarse dust particles get caught at the edge of the recessed portion of the sole plate on which the lint pickers are mounted. If the recess has a plurality of edges along a line at an angle of between 20 and 70 to the longitudinal axis of the suction opening, which edges form an edge directed towards the suction opening, coarse dust particles can escape more easily behind the edges, for example, because of the shape of the pointed element, the coarse dust particles collect at a point close to the suction opening, so that other coarse dust particles can push the coarse dust particles past the edges, so that the coarse dust particles are sucked up at the suction opening.

Another aspect of the invention provides a vacuum cleaner comprising a suction unit and a nozzle arranged for coupling to the suction unit, wherein the nozzle is formed by such a vacuum cleaner appliance.

These and other aspects of the invention are apparent from and will be elucidated with reference to the embodiments described hereinafter.

Drawings

Figures 1 and 2 illustrate an embodiment of a vacuum cleaner appliance according to the present invention.

Detailed Description

Figure 1 illustrates a bottom view of a vacuum cleaner appliance according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Only the basic elements are shown and other elements not relevant to the invention, such as wheels and brushes, are not shown. A vacuum cleaner appliance (e.g. a nozzle) 1 has a suction opening 3 and a lint picker 5 having a plurality of triangular elements 5a to 5d directed towards the suction opening 3. In an embodiment, another similar lint picker is placed at the other end of the suction opening 3. Each triangular element 5a to 5d is mounted in a respective recess having 3 edges, one of which (shown in solid line) is parallel to the suction opening 3 and two of which (shown in broken line) with the reference numerals 7a to 7d are oriented along a line which is at an angle of between 20 ° and 70 ° to the longitudinal axis a-a of the suction opening 3, the angle between the first and second boundaries being 120 °. The pair of borders 7a to 7d forms an edge directed towards the suction opening 3.

Figure 2 illustrates a bottom view of a vacuum cleaner appliance according to a second embodiment of the present invention. In contrast to fig. 1, the lint picker 5 has a plurality of rectangular elements 5a to 5h directed towards the suction opening 3. Here, the recessed portion is formed of a plurality of recessed portions each accommodating a respective one of the rectangular elements 5a to 5 h. Each rectangular element 5a to 5h is housed in a respective recess having a pair of two edges 7a to 7h (of the four edges shown in broken lines) which meet each other close to the suction mouth 3, forming an edge directed towards the suction mouth 3. These edges 7a to 7h are positioned along a line which makes an angle between 20 ° and 70 ° with the longitudinal axis a-a of the suction opening 3. The angle between the edges of each pair of edges 7a to 7h is 90 °. In an alternative embodiment, the rectangular elements 5a to 5h have no space between them and in turn there may be a single recess accommodating the lint pickers 5. Furthermore, the elements 5a to 5h may have a straight lower boundary parallel to the lower boundary of the vacuum cleaner appliance 1 (as in fig. 1), and in turn the one or more recessed portions of the receiving elements 5a to 5h may likewise have a straight lower boundary parallel to the lower boundary of the vacuum cleaner appliance 1.

It should be noted that the above-mentioned embodiments illustrate rather than limit the invention, and that those skilled in the art will be able to design many alternative embodiments without departing from the scope of the appended claims. For example, the lint pickers 5 may be mounted in an inclined portion of the bottom plate of the nozzle 1, and the lint pickers 5 need not abut against the suction opening 3. For example, the floor of the nozzle may have a flat portion directly adjacent the suction opening 3, while the lint pickers 5 are present on an inclined portion of the floor adjacent the flat portion. The elements of the lint pickers 5 need not be distinct elements, they may overlap and/or have a common bottom, as long as the components are directed towards the suction opening 3. In the claims, any reference signs placed between parentheses shall not be construed as limiting the claim. The word "comprising" does not exclude the presence of elements or steps other than those listed in a claim. The word "a" or "an" preceding an element does not exclude the presence of a plurality of such elements. The invention can be implemented by means of hardware comprising several distinct elements. In the device claim enumerating several means, several of these means may be embodied by one and the same item of hardware. The measures recited in mutually different dependent claims can advantageously be combined.
