Background

Neonatal jaundice is a disease characterized by yellow staining of the skin, mucous membrane and sclera, which is caused by an increase in the concentration of bilirubin in the blood due to abnormal bilirubin metabolism in the neonatal period, and is a common disease in newborns. Statistically, different degrees of jaundice are observed in 60% term infants and 80% premature infants within one week after birth, and the skin appears yellowish-brown. When the value of unconjugated bilirubin in a newborn is high, free bilirubin is deposited on basal nerve nuclei, thalamus, subthalamic nuclei, parietal nuclei, ventricular nuclei, caudate nuclei, cerebellum, cerebral cortex, spinal cord and the like through the blood brain barrier, so that the utilization of oxygen by brain tissues is inhibited, and the risk of brain injury is caused. Therefore, timely treatment of newborns with symptoms of jaundice is highly desirable.

Common methods for treating neonatal jaundice include phototherapy, hemospasia, drug therapy, and supportive therapy. The phototherapy is to irradiate blue light, penetrate neonatal skin with jaundice symptoms and act on bilirubin molecules, under the excitation of blue light photons, the bilirubin molecules are isomerized or oxidized to form isomers which are easy to dissolve in water and are discharged out of a body through bile, urine and body fluid, so that the bilirubin concentration is reduced, and the aim of treating jaundice is achieved. Phototherapy is the safest, most effective and most convenient method for treating neonatal jaundice.

When neonatal jaundice is treated by phototherapy, the blue-green light at the wavelength of 440-490nm can be absorbed by bilirubin molecules and bilirubin can be isomerized or oxidized. Early instrumentation used to treat jaundice often employed continuous light waves in this wavelength region for neonatal jaundice treatment. However, the absorption peak wavelength of bilirubin is between 450-455nm, and thus the efficiency of light energy utilization is low when the conventional continuous light source is used for treating neonatal jaundice. In recent years, high-power blue-light LEDs with high energy efficiency gradually move to the market and the price is continuously reduced, and the development of instruments and equipment for neonatal jaundice treatment by adopting narrow-band blue-light LEDs becomes a current hotspot.

At present, three types of equipment for treating neonatal jaundice mainly comprise a blue light box, a blue light blanket and a blue light spot lamp in a hospital. The treatment of neonatal jaundice is carried out in a hospital by a blue light box, and a newborn is put into the blue light box in an intensive care unit of the newborn for isolation treatment, so that the treatment mode is not only unfavorable for relativity and brings mental pain to parents of the newborn, but also has high price. There are two implementations of the blue-light carpet currently on the market. One is to integrate a blue light LED light source on a blanket directly and carry out irradiation treatment on the newborn with jaundice symptom; the other is to transmit light to the carpet surface through the optical fiber to carry out irradiation treatment on the newborn baby. When the blue light blanket is used for irradiating and treating the jaundice baby, the jaundice baby needs to lie on the blue light blanket and only can irradiate the back area. The blue light spot lamp is a directional irradiation light source made of a blue light LED, and is used for irradiating and treating a newborn baby by being fixed within a distance of 0.5-0.8 m from the newborn baby. When the blue light spotlight is used for treating the jaundice baby, the jaundice baby needs to be exposed, the body is not beneficial to warm keeping in winter, and only the chest and the abdomen of the body can be irradiated positively during irradiation, and the two sides of the body cannot be irradiated. In addition, for the three types of jaundice treatment devices, in order to avoid the blue light from irradiating the eyes of the baby to damage the vision of the baby, a blue-light-proof eye patch needs to be worn in the using process, so that the newborn baby receiving the blue light irradiation treatment is easy to suffer from mood fluctuation and cry.

Aiming at the defects of the existing products in the market, the invention provides the portable neonatal jaundice treatment device based on the blue light LED light source, which has the advantages of low cost, folding and portability, no need of a light-shading eye patch, three-dimensional irradiation on the infant through a directional light source and the like, and has very wide market prospect.
