Background

The tandem accelerator accelerates negative ions in the front half part of the accelerator, then enters a gas stripping system in the middle of the accelerator to strip the negative ions into positive ions, and then re-accelerates the positive ions by utilizing the rear half part of the accelerator. Therefore, in order to realize gas stripping of ions, a stripping gas is required. The conventional stripping gas input method is to place the tank containing the stripping gas in the high pressure area of the head of the accelerator, and in order to realize the flow control of the stripping gas, an insulating rod is needed to extend from the ground potential to a gas flow control valve at a high potential to control the flow of the gas, as shown in fig. 1. The device needs to open the accelerator shell frequently to replace the stripping tank and the stripping gas, and is inconvenient to operate; meanwhile, the stripping tank is arranged on a high-pressure rack of a high-pressure area of the head of the accelerator, so that the high-pressure rack is large in size and not beneficial to miniaturization.

Fig. 2 shows a schematic structural diagram of a stripping gas input device of a small tandem accelerator according to an embodiment of the present invention, and it can be seen from the diagram that the device includes an accelerator cavity 1, a first acceleration tube 2, a gas stripping tube 3, and a second acceleration tube 4 are sequentially disposed inside the accelerator cavity 1 along a length direction of the accelerator cavity, a stripping gas tank 5 and a gas pressure modulator 6 are disposed outside the accelerator cavity 1, one end of the gas pressure modulator 6 is communicated with the stripping gas tank 5, the other end is communicated with a quartz microporous tube 7 located inside the accelerator cavity, and the other end of the quartz microporous tube 7 is communicated with the gas stripping tube 3. The device sends stripping gas with certain pressure in a stripping gas tank into an accelerator cavity 1 through a gas pressure modulator 6, and then conveys the stripping gas from ground potential to a gas stripping pipe 3 positioned in the middle of the accelerator cavity through a quartz micropore pipe 7, so that the stripping gas is input.

In order to avoid the stripping gas from being broken down by high voltage, the pressure of the stripping gas needs to be controlled to be more than 20 atmospheres to meet the insulation requirement. The stripping gas is generally helium, argon or nitrogen, wherein helium is most easily broken down by high voltage. According to the relevant data, for helium, the voltage that can be withstood by the gas stripping tube per mm was 3.2KV when the stripping gas pressure was 20 atm. Therefore, for an accelerator with a terminal voltage of 0.5MV, the length of the gas stripping tube is controlled to be 200 mm, which can meet the requirement.

In order to realize the control of the flow rate of the stripping gas, according to the relevant calculation of the fluid theory, the inner diameter of the gas stripping pipe is 150 microns, the length of the gas stripping pipe is 200 millimeters, the pressure of the stripping gas is controlled under the precondition of 20 to 40 atmospheric pressures, and the pressure of the stripping gas can be adjusted by the pressure modulator 6, so that the requirements of different gas flow rates of the accelerator are realized.
