1. A method of making a collection of polymeric beads, wherein the beads comprise

(i) 75 to 99 wt%, based on the weight of the beads, of polymerized units of a monofunctional vinyl monomer, and

(ii) from 1 to 25% by weight, based on the weight of the beads, of polymerized units of a polyfunctional vinyl monomer,

wherein the method comprises

(a) Providing an aqueous suspension of monomer droplets comprising an initiator, a monofunctional vinyl monomer, and a multifunctional vinyl monomer;

(b) initiating polymerization of the monomer in the monomer droplets;

(c) adding a monomer feed solution to the suspension while polymerization of the monomers in the monomer droplets occurs,

wherein the addition is started when the degree of polymerization of the monomer (EXTSTRATART) in the monomer droplets is from 0% to 50%, and

wherein the addition is ended when the degree of polymerization of the monomers in the monomer droplets (extsotop) is 5% to 100% after EXTSTART;

wherein the feed solution comprises monomers in an amount of 90 wt% to 100 wt%, based on the weight of the feed solution;

wherein the feed solution comprises a polyfunctional vinyl monomer in an amount of from 50 wt% to 100 wt% based on the weight of the feed solution.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the amount EXTDIF-EXTSTART is 5% or higher.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the monofunctional vinyl monomer comprises styrene.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the multifunctional vinyl monomer comprises divinylbenzene.

5. A method of making a collection of polymeric beads, wherein the beads comprise

(i) 75 to 99 wt%, based on the weight of the beads, of polymerized units of a monofunctional vinyl monomer, and

(ii) from 1 to 25% by weight, based on the weight of the beads, of polymerized units of a polyfunctional vinyl monomer,

wherein the method comprises

(a) Providing an aqueous suspension of monomer droplets comprising an initiator, a monofunctional vinyl monomer, and a multifunctional vinyl monomer;

(b) initiating polymerization of the monomer in the monomer droplets;

(c) adding a monomer feed composition to the suspension while polymerization of the monomers in the monomer droplets occurs,

wherein the addition is started when the degree of polymerization of the monomer (EXTSTRATART) in the monomer droplets is from 0% to 50%, and

wherein the addition is ended when the degree of polymerization of the monomers in the monomer droplets (extsotop) is 5% to 100% after EXTSTART;

Wherein the feed composition comprises monomers dispersed in an aqueous medium;

wherein the feed composition comprises a multifunctional vinyl monomer in an amount of from 50 wt% to 100 wt%, based on the total weight of monomers in the feed composition.
