In a preferred embodiment, the fixation assembly includes a first fixation jaw and a first positioning ring fixedly connected by bolts to a proximal fixation ring of the Ilizarov external bone fixator.

In a preferred embodiment, the first positioning ring is an 1/2 or 1/3 or 1/4 ring.
