6. A glass article bearing a printed photograph as defined in claim 1, wherein: the glass article (40) is a glass article with a flat, curved or non-flat surface.

7. A glass article bearing a printed photograph as defined in claim 1, wherein: the pixels of the printing device (26) are 50 pixels; or the printing device (26) has a resolution of 118 pixels per MM per inch.

8. A method of printing a glass article having a printed graphic, comprising: which comprises the following steps:

(1) a step (14) of applying a coating of the composition to the surface of the treated glass article;

(2) aging the surface of the glass product obtained in the step (14) at room temperature or ambient temperature;

(3) performing a printing step (16) on the surface of the glass article in at least one printing method;

(4) and carrying out a surface finishing step (18) on the surface of the glass product by a heat treatment process.

Technical Field

The present invention relates generally to laser printing (with 3D or relief effects) on glass articles.

Background

Laser printing is a known technique for printing four colors of CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) on a surface of an object, and is performed by irradiating the surface of the object with a laser beam. This technique is limited to fibrous substrates such as paper, plastic or metal. Color printing on glass can only be achieved by silk-screening. Color printing is also limited to output of several colors, and the image definition of the picture cannot be completely reflected.

Other known solutions are water conversion or watermarking by means of a water conversion printing paper solution as disclosed in japanese patent No. JP2009083281 and chinese patent No. CN 103042875 a. However, the above printing requires many steps and cannot reproduce the color and image clarity of a photograph. In addition, the printing surface of the technical scheme is smooth and flat, and the printing effect of 3D or embossment can not be realized like the printing method.

Therefore, the invention can provide a glass product which overcomes the defects of the prior art that the direct laser irradiation and the color printing are carried out on the surface of the glass product;

The invention aims to provide a method for directly printing pictures and characters on the surface of a glass product by laser.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a method of printing a monochrome or color picture or text on a glass article.

It is another object of the present invention to replace the indirect or traditional methods of printing on glass articles such as watermarking or silk screening.

It is another object of the present invention to perform laser printing on the surface of a glass article.

It is another object of the present invention to achieve laser printed image resolution on glass articles of at least 50 pixels per inch (118 pixels per MM);

another object of the present invention is to provide a surface of a glass product with laser printing, which is not corroded by artificial light, sunlight, hydrocarbons such as alcohol, fragrant hydrocarbons such as perfume, and water;

according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, there is provided:

a method of printing a picture on a glass article comprising the steps of:

(1) a step 14 of applying a coating of the composition to the surface of the treated glass article;

(2) aging the surface of the glass product of step 14 at room temperature or ambient temperature;

(3) performing a laser printing step 16 on the surface of the glass article by at least one laser printing method;

(4) performing a surface finishing step 18 on the surface of the glass product by a heat treatment method;

in the invention, the composition coating component comprises any one of ink/pigment, thinner, catalyst, wetting agent, solvent, adhesive, flow aid, defoaming agent and resin or the combination of the above substances; the glass article surface conditioning comprises uv irradiation, liquid cleaning, lamination or a combination of the above processes in step 18.

According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, there is provided:

printing of a picture on a glass article comprising:

a glass article 20;

a composition coating 24 applied to a surface of the glass article 20;

the picture on the composite coating 24 is implemented by a laser printing device that can receive an image data file or format from a computer device 28; the laser printing device 26 may print pictures;

the invention has the following advantages:

the invention replaces indirect or traditional methods of printing on the glass product such as watermarking or silk-screen printing, and realizes the laser printing on the surface of the glass product;

the invention carries out laser printing on the surface of the glass product, and the glass product is not corroded by artificial light, hydrocarbons such as sunlight and alcohol, fragrant hydrocarbons such as perfume and water;

Detailed Description

The following detailed description of embodiments of the present invention will be made with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Numerous specific details are set forth in the following detailed description in order to provide a thorough understanding of the invention. However, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without these specific details. In addition, well-known methods, procedures and/or components have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the technical features of the present invention.

The invention will be better understood from the examples in the following description and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration and not to scale.

An exemplary method of printing a picture on a glass article as shown in fig. 1 includes the steps of: a step 14 of applying a coating 24 of the composition to the surface of the treated glass article; aging the surface of the glass product of step 14 at room temperature or ambient temperature; performing a laser printing step 16 on the surface of the glass article by at least one laser printing method; a surface finishing step 18 is performed on the surface of the glass article by a heat treatment process.

The composite coating comprises ink/pigment, diluent, catalyst, wetting agent, solvent, binder, flow aid, defoamer, resin or combination thereof; the glass article surface conditioning comprises uv irradiation, liquid cleaning, lamination or a combination of the above processes in step 18.

In an alternative embodiment, the surface of the glass article is subjected to a pretreatment step 12 using an acidic or basic solution. The surface of the glass article may remain dry prior to performing step 14.

Fig. 2 is a side view of the present invention. Laser printing a picture on a glass article comprising: a glass article 20, a composition coating 24 applied to said glass article 20, at least one printing device 26 printing a color toner onto said composition coating 24. The printing device 26 receives picture data files or format files, such as raster and/or vector files like JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, SVG, and the like, from a computer device 28, distinguished by dashed arrows, and prints color toner onto the composite coating 24 proximate to the coating. Optionally, a layer of acidic or basic solution 22 may be applied between the glass article 20 and the composition coating 24.

The laser printing is preferably selected from color printing including CYMK (cyan, yellow, magenta, and black) color toner; however, monochrome or color printing, or a combination of both, may be applied to the surface of the glass article. Preferably, the glass article is a bottle, a mug or the like with a flat, curved or non-flat surface. Printing device 26 is a laser printing device, preferably one that can print image resolutions greater than 50 pixels per inch (118 pixels per MM). However, other image resolution devices may be suitable as long as clear pictures can be printed.

Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described in the specification to illustrate the effects and advantages of the present invention over the prior art, the present invention is not limited to the specific embodiments described above. Thus, the forms of the invention herein described are for illustration purposes only and other embodiments may be selected within the scope of the claims appended to this description.
