Method for manufacturing panels, wherein these panels (1) comprise at least a substrate (2) and a decorative top layer (3), wherein the decorative top layer (3) comprises at least a printed pattern and a transparent or translucent protective layer (9) formed thereon, wherein the method comprises at least the following steps:

-a step of providing a substrate (2);

-a step (S3) of applying a first finishing layer (6) for forming a first portion of the above-mentioned protective layer (9);

-a step (S5) of at least partially hardening said first finishing layer (6);

-a step (S6) of applying a second finishing layer (7) for forming a second portion of the above-mentioned protective layer (9);

-a step (S7-S8) of forming a recess (16) on the surface (17) of the second finishing layer (7),

characterized in that said first finishing layer (6) comprises hard particles (13).

2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that said second finishing layer (7) is free of hard particles (13).

3. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that said second finishing layer (7) also comprises hard particles.

4. A method according to claim 3, characterized in that the average diameter of the hard particles in the second finishing layer (7) is smaller than the average diameter of the hard particles (13) in the first finishing layer (6).

5. A method according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the hard particles (13) of the first finishing layer (6) protrude above the surface (15) of the first finishing layer (7).

6. Method according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the step of forming the recess (16) comprises at least providing a surface structure-changing agent, preferably a chemical agent.

7. The method according to claim 6, characterized in that it exhibits one or a combination of two or more of the following features:

-the above-mentioned surface structure altering agent is characteristic of a chemical agent that opens the material of the second finishing layer (7);

-the surface structure altering agent is characterized by a chemical agent that repels the material of the second finishing layer (7), wherein the chemical agent has a different, in particular lower, surface tension than the material of the finishing layer (7).

8. The method according to claim 6 or 7, wherein the material of the first finishing layer and/or the second finishing layer is a UV-curable lacquer.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein said surface structure altering agent is a paint repellent agent.

10. Method for manufacturing panels, wherein these panels (1) comprise at least a substrate (2) and a decorative top layer (3), wherein the above-mentioned decorative top layer (3) comprises at least a printed pattern and a transparent or translucent protective layer (9) formed thereon, and wherein the method comprises at least the following steps:

-a step of providing a substrate;

-a step (S3) of applying a first finishing layer (6) for forming a first portion of the above-mentioned protective layer (9);

-a step (S7A-S8A) of forming notches (16) on the surface (15) of said first finishing layer (16);

-a step (S6) of applying a second finishing layer (7) for forming a second portion of the above-mentioned protective layer (9);

-a step of forming a recess (16) on a surface (17) of the second finishing layer (7).

11. A method according to claim 10, characterized in that the recess (16) in the second finishing layer (7) is formed at the location of the recess (16) in the first finishing layer (6).

12. The method according to claim 10 or 11, characterized in that the method also exhibits the features of any one of claims 1 to 9.

13. Method according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the materials of the first and second finishing layers (6-7) show different gloss levels from each other.

14. Method according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the aforementioned recesses (16) are formed according to the printing pattern.

15. Method for manufacturing a panel, preferably according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the panel (15) comprises at least a substrate (2) and a decorative top layer (3), wherein the decorative top layer (3) comprises at least a printed pattern and a transparent or translucent protective layer (9) formed thereon, and wherein the method comprises at least the steps of:

-a step of providing a substrate (2);

-a step (S3) of applying a finishing layer (6) for forming at least part of the above-mentioned protective layer (9);

-a step (S7-S8) of forming recesses (16) on the surface (15) of said first finishing layer (6), wherein this step comprises a step of applying a surface structure-modifying agent;

characterized in that the surface structure modifier is coloured.
