Technical Field

The invention is suitable for the protective helmet of the motorcyclist.

Background

Currently, sun visors installed in protective helmets for motorcyclists allow their disassembly for cleaning or replacement. These helmets have side mechanisms for mounting and releasing the visor. The mechanism includes a member movable between an unlocked position in which removal of the visor is permitted and a locked position in which removal of the visor is prevented and rotation of the visor relative to the helmet between extreme open and closed positions is permitted.

The movable member for locking and unlocking the sun visor is moved in a transverse direction with respect to the axis of rotation of the sun visor and tends to be permanently held in the locking position by the action of the pushing means; this determines that the mentioned components must be manually held in the unlocked position to enable the visor to be removed from the helmet.

A disadvantage of this mechanism is that the visor must be removed with two hands, one holding the parts in the unlocked position and the other holding and removing the visor.

Disclosure of Invention

The protective helmet for motorcyclists, object of the present invention, has the features relating to the mounting and fixing of the sun visor with respect to the helmet. In one aspect, said feature is intended to allow the movable part, once actuated towards a position for unlocking and releasing the sun visor, to remain in said open position until the sun visor is again mounted in the helmet, thus allowing the sun visor to be detached with only one hand; and, on the other hand, a mechanism for locking the visor in the closed position is incorporated in the helmet and, when actuated, unlocks the visor and causes the visor to automatically rotate until the first open position.

The features of the present invention will be better understood in view of the embodiments shown in the drawings described below.

Detailed Description

As can be seen in fig. 1, the protective helmet for motorcyclists comprises an actual cap or helmet 10 provided with a front window and side mechanisms for mounting the respective sides of the transparent visor 20, so that the transparent visor 20 can be rotated between an open position of the front window, shown in fig. 3, and a closed position, shown in fig. 1 and 2.

The side mechanism for mounting the sun visor 20 in a helmet comprises a cylindrical formation 101, which cylindrical formation 101 may be coupled in a cavity 201 of a corresponding end of the sun visor 20 and defines an axis of rotation of the sun visor 20 between an open position and a closed position.

The side mechanism includes: a first curved guide 102, the first curved guide 102 being adapted to receive the first radial attachment 202 of the sun visor 20 in a radial direction and for circular movement of the first radial attachment 202 about the axis of rotation; and a radially movable member 103 that moves in the front-rear direction between positions for locking and unlocking the sun visor 20. Said movable part 103 comprises a second curved guide 104, which second curved guide 104 is intended to receive a second radial attachment 203 of the sun visor 20 in a radial direction in the mounted position of the sun visor 20 relative to the helmet 10 and to provide for a circular movement of the second radial attachment 203.

According to the invention, the side mechanism for mounting the sun visor comprises a flexible tab 105, which flexible tab 105, due to the elasticity of the material forming it, tends to stay in an operating position in which the movable part 103 is held in the unlocked position of the sun visor 20, as shown in fig. 5, 6 and 7.

Starting from the mounting position shown in fig. 3 and 4, as shown in fig. 5 and 6, the sun visor 20 can be disassembled with only one hand, since once the movable member 103 is placed in the unlocked position of the sun visor 20, in which said movable member 103 is held by the flexible tab 105, it is possible to initially perform the release of the second radial attachment 203 from the second curved guide 104 and then the release of the first radial attachment 202 from the first curved guide 102.

As can be seen in fig. 8 and 9, during installation of the sun visor 20, the flexible tab 105 is moved by the sun visor 20 itself towards an inoperative position in which the flexible tab 105 is brought under the movable part 103, thereby releasing the movable part 103 and allowing it to automatically return to the locked position of the sun visor 20.

The side mechanism for mounting the sun visor comprises springs 106, which springs 106 are compressed when the movable part 103 is moved towards the unlocked position of the sun visor 20, and which springs 106 return the sun visor 20 to the locked position when the flexible tab 105 is moved towards the non-operative position.

The side mechanism for mounting the sun visor 20 comprises a retaining means for retaining the sun visor in a continuously progressive open position between the closed position shown in fig. 1 and 2 and the maximum open position shown in fig. 3. The retaining means comprise a corrugated profile member 107 against which the lugs 204 of the sun visor 20 act transversely, said corrugated profile 107 determining the different open positions of the sun visor 20.

As can be seen from fig. 2 and 10, the helmet comprises in the front region a locking latch 108 of the sun visor in the closed position and in the lateral side resilient urging means 109 for urging the sun visor towards the open position. In fig. 1 and 2, the sun visor 20 is held in the closed position by the locking bolt 108 and in said closed position the resilient means 109 remains compressed by the sun visor 20 itself. In the example shown, the sun visor 20 acts against the resilient means 109 by means of a stop 205 defined therein.

When the locking latch 108 is released from the sun visor 20 in the closed position, as shown in fig. 10, said resilient means 109 acts against the sun visor, more particularly against the stopper 205 of the sun visor, causing the sun visor 20 to rotate from the closed position shown in fig. 1 and 2 towards the first open position shown in fig. 10.

In the example shown, the cylindrical formation 101, which can be coupled in the cavity 201 of the corresponding end of the sun visor 20, is defined in a component mounted on the helmet 10, and this cylindrical formation 101 can move slightly in the same direction as the movable component 103, tending to remain separated from said movable component by the action of the spring 110.

Having fully described the nature of the invention and the preferred embodiments thereof, it is stated for the purpose of the present disclosure that modifications may be made in the materials, shapes, sizes and arrangements of the elements described, provided that modifications to the essential features of the invention claimed below are not required.
