Technical Field

The present invention relates to a packaging machine with a rotating platform.

In particular, the present invention relates to a packaging machine for packaging products with at least one strip or film of packaging material.

Background

This type of packaging machine comprises: a base; a rotating platform defining a support plane for at least one product and mounted on the base to rotate about an axis of rotation that is substantially vertical and perpendicular to the rotating platform support plane; and a plurality of support rollers interposed between the base and the rotating platform and distributed around the aforementioned axis of rotation.

This packagine machine still includes: a guide post projecting upward from the base and extending in a vertical direction substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotary platform; and a support slide configured to receive and hold a reel of the strip of packaging material and movable along the guide upright, such that the strip or film of packaging material is wrapped helically around the product by combining the displacement of the rotary platform about the rotation axis with the displacement of the support slide along the guide upright.

Known packaging machines of the aforementioned type are generally of two types.

According to a first type, each support roller is mounted on a fork projecting upwards from the base and arranged in contact with the rotating platform.

According to the other of the two types described above, each support roller is mounted on a fork projecting downwards from the rotating platform and arranged in contact with the base.

Known packaging machines of the above-mentioned type have some drawbacks, due to the fact that the supporting rollers are arranged in contact with the base or rotating platform, mainly due to the fact that: since the floor on which the packaging machine is arranged inevitably has imperfect planarity, the load exerted by the product on the rotating platform is distributed in a very uneven manner on the supporting rollers, jeopardizing correct operation and implying relatively high wear and relatively short service life of their supporting rollers.

Disclosure of Invention

The object of the present invention is to achieve a packaging machine with a rotating platform which does not have the above-mentioned drawbacks and which is simple and cost-effective to use.

According to the present invention, a packaging machine with a rotating platform is realised according to the appended claims.

Detailed Description

With reference to fig. 1, the reference numeral 1 generally designates a packaging machine 1 for packaging products 2 with at least one web 3 of packaging material, in this case a web 3 of stretchable film.

The packaging machine 1 comprises a substantially planar base 4, which base 4 in turn comprises a first plate 5 (for example substantially circular) and a second plate 6 (for example substantially rectangular) connected to each other.

The packaging machine 1 also comprises a rotating platform 7 of circular shape, which overlaps the first plate 5 and is mounted on the base 4 so as to rotate with respect to the latter, i.e. the base 4, about an axis of rotation 8 substantially parallel to the vertical direction 9.

The platform 7 defines a substantially horizontal support plane P for at least one product 2 and cooperates with a support slide 10 configured for receiving and holding a reel 11 of the strip 3. The support slide 10 is movable along a vertical guide upright 12, the vertical guide upright 12 projecting upwards from the plate 6 in the direction 9 substantially parallel to the rotation axis 8.

The rotation axis 8 is substantially perpendicular to the support plane P. By combining the displacement of the platform 7 about the rotation axis 8 with the displacement of the support slide 10 and therefore of the reel 11 in the direction 9, the band 3 is wrapped spirally around the product 2.

According to what is shown in fig. 2 and 3, the packaging machine 1 also comprises an intermediate disc 13, the intermediate disc 13 having a circular shape, the intermediate disc 13 being mounted coaxially to the rotation axis 8 between the first plate 5 and the platform 7 of the base 4 and it being rotatably coupled to both the aforementioned plate 5 and the platform 7 of the base 4 so as to rotate about the rotation axis 8.

This intermediate disc or disc 13 is provided with a plurality of support rollers 14, these support rollers 14 being mounted on the disc 13, being interposed between the base 4 and the platform 7, being distributed about the rotation axis 8 and being rotatably coupled to the disc 13 so as to rotate with respect to the latter, i.e. the disc 13, about respective rotation axes 15, which rotation axes 15 are substantially radial and transverse to the rotation axis 8.

The support roller or rollers 14 have a diameter substantially equal to the distance between the first plate 5 of the base 4 and the platform 7, measured parallel to the direction 9, so as to be arranged in contact with both the first plate 5 and the platform 7.

In this particular case, the rollers 14 are distributed according to and along two or more (for example three) circumferences concentric to the rotation axis 8, and the rollers 14 of each circumference are staggered, in particular radially staggered, with respect to the rollers of the adjacent circumference.

The platform 7 is rotated by a transmission system 16, which transmission system 16 comprises drive means 17 and is supported by rollers 14, which rollers 14 rotate the disc 13 about the axis of rotation 8 as a result of the dragging.

In an alternative embodiment:

the disc 13 rotates and determines, due to the dragging, the rotation of the roller 14, which roller 14 in turn rotates the platform 7 supported by it;

there are coupling means 19 which rotate both the platform 7 and the disk 13.

The drive means 17 are arranged for rotating the platform 7 or the disc 13 about the rotation axis 8 and comprise, for example, an electric motor of known type and not shown, and suitable transmission means.

Coupling means 19 may be provided to kinematically couple platform 7 and disk 13 to each other, i.e. for transmitting rotation between platform 7 and disk 13. In other words, coupling means 19 allows the rotation imparted to platform 7 by drive means 17 to be transmitted to disk 13, or allows the rotation imparted to disk 13 by drive means 17 to be transmitted to platform 7.

In the exemplary and non-limiting embodiment shown in fig. 2 and 3, the drive means 17 rotate the disc 13 and comprise: an electric motor; a gear 18 obtained coaxially to the rotation axis 8 along the peripheral edge of the disc 13; and a drive means (not shown) comprising a chain or belt drive or a gear set for connecting the output shaft of the electric motor (not shown) and the gear 18 of the drive means to each other. Alternatively, the disc 13 may be rotated by a belt wrapped around its outer circular edge and rotated by an electric motor through suitable drive means.

In such an embodiment, the driving means 17 further comprise coupling means 19, which coupling means 19 are arranged for kinematically coupling the platform 7 and the disc 13 to each other and comprise a gear train, which in turn comprises: a sun gear 20 fixed coaxially to the platform 7 with respect to the rotation axis 8; a ring gear 21, obtained along the inner peripheral edge of disc 13, coaxially with respect to rotation axis 8; and a plurality (in this particular case three pairs) of side gears 22, 23, the side gears 22, 23 being rotatably mounted on the first plate 5 of the base 4 so as to rotate with respect to the first plate 5 of the base 4 about respective axes of rotation 24 parallel to the axis of rotation 8. This embodiment of the coupling means 19 allows the platform 7 to rotate with respect to the disc 13 in a transmission ratio defined by the characteristics of the gear trains 20, 21, 22, 23.

Each gear 22 is coupled to the ring gear 21, and each gear 23 is coupled to the gear 20 and the opposite gear 22.

In use, rotational movement of disc 13 about axis of rotation 8 is transmitted to platform 7 through gears 22, 23 and gear 20.

It should be noted that this embodiment of the coupling means 19 allows the platform 7 to rotate with respect to the disc 13 with a transmission ratio defined by the characteristics of the gear trains 20, 21, 22, 23.

Alternatively, the coupling means 19 may comprise different means for transmitting the rotation of the disc 13 to the platform 7, such as a clutch wheel or a belt.

In a variant of the packaging machine of the invention, not shown in the figures, the drive means 17 rotate the platform 7 and comprise an electric motor, a gear wheel fixed to the platform 7 coaxially with respect to the rotation axis 8, and comprise a chain or belt drive or a gear train for connecting the output shaft of the electric motor and the platform gear wheel to each other.

Alternatively, the gear of the platform 7 may be rotated by a belt wrapped around its outer circular edge and rotatable by an electric motor through a suitable transmission.

The coupling means 19 arranged therebetween for dynamically coupling the platform 7 and the disc 13 may comprise a gear train interconnecting the platform gear 7 and the disc 13 or other different means, such as a clutch wheel or a belt.

The variant shown in fig. 4 and 5 differs from the preceding figures only in that the transmission system 16 is removed and replaced by a transmission system 25, which transmission system 25 is provided with drive means 26 for rotating the rotary platform 7 about the axis of rotation 8. The drive means 26 comprise an electric motor, known and not shown, a gear wheel 27 fixed coaxially with respect to the axis of rotation 8 on the platform 7, and a chain or belt drive or a gear train for connecting the output shaft of the electric motor (not shown) and the gear wheel 27 of the drive means to each other.

In this variant of the machine, the drive means 26 do not comprise coupling means, since the rotary motion of the platform 7 about the rotation axis 8 is transmitted to the disc 13 by friction through the rollers 14.

The disc 13 is guided with its rotary motion about the axis of rotation 8 by a plurality of gears 28 (in this case three gears 28), said plurality of gears 28 being rotatably mounted on the first plate 5 so as to rotate about respective axes of rotation 29 parallel to the axis of rotation 8 and coupled with a ring gear 30 obtained along an inner peripheral edge of the disc 13.

According to a variant not shown, the ring gear 30 is removed and the plurality of gears 28 is removed and replaced by respective guide bearings mounted in contact with the inner peripheral edge of the disk 13.

Since the supporting rollers 14 are mounted on the intermediate disc 13 and are arranged in contact with both the first plate 5 and the platform 7, the packaging machine 1 has some advantages, mainly due to the fact that the load applied by the products 2 on the platform 7 is distributed in a relatively uniform manner over the supporting rollers 14, ensuring correct operation of the supporting rollers 14 and ensuring relatively low wear and relatively long service life of their supporting rollers 14.
