1. An apparatus for curling a sheet of material, the apparatus comprising:

-first and second facing crimping rollers defining first and second axes of rotation, wherein at least one of the first and second crimping rollers comprises:

a plurality of ridges, each ridge defining a first side, a second side, and a tip, the first side or the second side forming a side angle with a radial direction through the tip, the side angle being between about 8 degrees and about 10 degrees.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the ridges are spaced apart from each other by a constant spacing.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the ridges all have substantially the same amplitude.

4. The apparatus of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first side and the second side are symmetrical with respect to a radial direction through the tip.

5. The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first roller or the second roller is realized in metal.

6. The apparatus of any preceding claim, wherein the other of the first and second crimping rollers comprises a plurality of ridges, the first and second rollers being arranged such that the ridges of the first roller are substantially staggered from the ridges of the second roller.

7. A method of manufacturing a crimped sheet for an aerosol-generating article, the method comprising the steps of:

feeding a substantially continuous sheet of material to a set of crimping rollers comprising a first roller and a second roller, at least one of the first roller or the second roller comprising a plurality of ridges; and

curling the substantially continuous web to form a curled web by feeding the substantially continuous sheet in a longitudinal direction of the sheet of material between the first roller and the second roller such that the ridges of the first roller or the second roller apply a plurality of curling corrugations to the substantially continuous sheet of material;

wherein the ridges in the first or second roller define a first side, a second side, and a tip, the first or second side forming a side angle with a radial direction passing through the tip, the side angle being between about 8 degrees and about 10 degrees.

8. A method of manufacturing an aerosol-generating article component, the method comprising the steps of:

-making a crimped sheet according to claim 7;

gathering the crimped sheet to form a continuous strip; and

cutting a continuous strip into a plurality of strip-shaped parts, each strip-shaped part having an aggregated curled sheet formed from cut portions of the curled sheet, the curled corrugations of the curled sheet defining a plurality of channels in the strip-shaped part.

9. The method of claim 7 or claim 8, wherein the sheet of material is one of: a sheet of alkaloid containing material, a plastic sheet, or a sheet comprising cellulose.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the sheet of alkaloid containing material comprises a homogenized tobacco sheet.

11. A crimped sheet achieved according to the method of claim 7.

12. The crimped sheet of claim 11, wherein the crimped sheet of material is one of: a sheet of alkaloid containing material, a plastic sheet, or a sheet comprising cellulose.

13. The crimped sheet of claim 12, wherein the sheet of alkaloid containing material comprises a homogenized tobacco sheet.

14. An aerosol-generating article comprising a portion of the crimped sheet of any one of claim 11 to claim 13.
