1. Field of the invention

The present disclosure provides an autonomously adjustable funnel thoracic reconstruction system having an autonomously adjustable structure that self-extends and provides expanded space to avoid growth restriction when the patient breathes.

Background

Disclosure of Invention

The present disclosure provides an autonomously adjustable funnel thoracic reconstruction system having an autonomously adjustable structure that can be extended by itself when a patient breathes to reduce pain and foreign body sensation of the patient. In addition, since patients who have undergone a corrective funnel chest (pectus exavatum) operation have many children and young adults during development, the disclosed system has a structure that can be adjusted autonomously, which can provide an expanded space and prevent growth from being restricted. Meanwhile, the fixing unit of the present disclosure may be designed in an arc shape to conform to ergonomics, avoiding the risk of foreign body sensation and the implant penetrating the skin of a patient.

The present disclosure provides an autonomously adjustable funnel chest reconstruction system, comprising: a funnel chest reconstruction rod having a first end and a first slot disposed at the first end; a first fixing unit having a first passage; and a first connector, wherein a first end of the funnel chest reconstruction rod is assembled on the first channel of the first fixing unit, the first connector passing through the first slot to combine the funnel chest reconstruction rod with the first fixing unit such that the first slot can slide back and forth around the first connector. The first fixation unit further comprises a first through hole, and the system is fixed to the tissue by the first through hole of the first fixation unit. The system further comprises a second fixation unit and a second connector, the second fixation unit being combined with the funnel chest reconstruction rod via the second connector. The first grooves extend in a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the funnel chest reconstruction rod. The funnel chest reconstruction rod includes an arcuate configuration to conform to the shape of the patient's sternum.

The present disclosure also provides an autonomously adjustable funnel chest reconstruction system, comprising a funnel chest reconstruction rod having a second end and a second slot provided at the second end, wherein the second fixation unit has a second channel, and wherein the second end of the funnel chest reconstruction rod is assembled on the second channel of the second fixation unit, and a second connector passes through the second slot, combining the funnel chest reconstruction rod with the second fixation unit such that the second slot is able to slide back and forth around the second connector. The second fixing unit further includes a second through hole, and the system is fixed to the tissue through the second through hole of the second fixing unit. The second grooves extend in a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the funnel chest reconstruction rod.

Because the funnel chest reconstruction system needs to be placed in a patient for a long time, the present disclosure considers the needs of the patient, and in the funnel chest reconstruction system provided by the present disclosure, there is a self-adjustable structure that adjusts its structure when the patient breathes, and the slot can slide back and forth around the connector according to the movement of the sternum to automatically adjust the length, so as to reduce the pain and foreign body sensation of the patient. In addition, the autonomous adjustment structure simultaneously provides space for the patient to expand to avoid limited growth of the patient.

In further embodiments of the present disclosure, the first and second fixation units of the self-adjustable funnel thoracic reconstruction system may optionally have an arc-shaped configuration to better conform to the patient's sternum and avoid a foreign body sensation. In the autonomously adjustable funnel chest reconstruction system of the present disclosure, the first fixing unit and the second fixing unit are designed in a closed manner, so as to avoid the problem that human tissues grow into the first fixing unit and the second fixing unit, which may cause system failure or difficulty in later system removal.

In addition, the present disclosure also provides a method for reconstructing a funnel chest by using the above autonomously adjustable funnel chest reconstruction system. The method of the present disclosure may include the steps of: providing the self-adjustable funnel chest reconstruction system; passing a funnel chest reconstruction rod behind the patient's deformed sternum; rotating a funnel chest reconstruction rod to raise the patient's deformed sternum to a desired position; and fixing the funnel chest reconstruction rod to the patient's bone by the fixing unit.

Other objects, advantages and features of the present disclosure will become more apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
