Technical Field
The invention relates to a control method of a flyback converter, in particular to a multi-mode control method of an active clamp flyback converter.
Background
The flyback converter is widely applied to medium and small power switching power supplies due to the advantages of low cost, simple topology and the like. In the actual working process, the energy of the primary side of the flyback converter cannot be completely transmitted to the secondary side due to the existence of the leakage inductance, and the resonance between the leakage inductance energy of the primary side and the MOS tube junction capacitor causes the drain electrode of the main switching tube to generate a high-frequency voltage peak. In order to reduce the voltage stress of the switch tube when the product is manufactured, it is a common practice to add an appropriate snubber circuit, and the common snubber circuit includes an RCD snubber circuit, an LCD snubber circuit, and an active clamp circuit. The active clamping circuit is additionally provided with an additional clamping switch tube and a larger clamping capacitor, so that leakage inductance energy can be stored, and the energy can be recycled to the input end of the converter. In addition, due to the electric inertia of the leakage inductance, the active clamping circuit extracts the charges on a termination capacitor at the drain end of the main switching tube through reverse exciting current after the recovery process of the leakage inductance energy is finished, so that the drain voltage of the main switching tube is reduced to zero, zero voltage switching-on (ZVS) of the main switching tube is realized, the switching-on loss of the main switching tube is reduced, and the power density of a product is further improved.
Fig. 1 shows a circuit diagram of a typical active clamp flyback converter. The principle analysis of fig. 2 is performed according to different time points as follows: wherein S1 is a gate drive waveform of the main switching tube, S2 is a gate drive waveform of the clamping switching tube, VSW is a voltage waveform of a drain terminal of the main switching tube, ILM is an excitation inductance current waveform, and ILK is a leakage inductance current waveform;

Suppose that the inductance of the exciting inductance is LMLeak, leakThe feeling quantity is LKThe peak value of the forward direction of the exciting inductance current is IPKPThe peak value in the negative direction is IPKNThe voltage at the drain terminal of the main switch tube is VSWThe capacitance value of the parasitic capacitance of the switch node is COSS. In order to reliably realize the ZVS switching-on of the main switching tube, the above power level parameters need to meet the following requirements:
wherein L isMAnd COSSIt is fixed, and it can be seen from the formula that to realize ZVS of the main switching tube, a negative inductor current with a certain amplitude must be ensured, and the negative current required is larger as the input voltage increases. When the output load is reduced, the peak value of the positive inductive current begins to be reduced, and then the conduction time of the main switching tube and the conduction time of the clamping switching tube are correspondingly reduced, so that the peak value of the negative exciting current can be ensured to be a fixed value. Therefore, as the switching frequency of the complementary mode active clamp flyback converter increases with decreasing load, the switching loss and the driving loss of the switching tube do not decrease when the output load decreases. In addition, when the load is light, the clamp switch tube path still has large circulation energy in the complementary mode, which also causes the light load efficiency to be reduced.Patent US9991800B2 shows an active clamp flyback controller with multi-mode control. This patent implements switching between complementary mode, normal flyback and burst mode by detecting the voltage at the feedback pin FB, however, the complementary mode is advantageous at power levels above 45W because if the power is too small, the circulating current is still large when operating in the complementary mode, which results in no advantage for the converter at low power levels. And as the load is reduced, the switching frequency in the complementary mode is increased, which causes a large jump of the operating frequency during mode switching, resulting in unstable loop and poor electromagnetic interference (EMI) characteristics. When the light load works in a traditional flyback Discontinuous (DCM) mode, the energy stored on the clamping capacitor can be consumed only by connecting a large resistor in parallel, so that the light load efficiency is not high.
The patent US10243469B1 discloses a burst mode control mode, which works in a normal flyback burst mode when the load is less than 20%, and the energy stored on the clamping capacitor can only be consumed by connecting a large resistor in parallel; when the power supply is fully loaded, the power supply is also operated in a complementary mode, so that the power supply is only suitable for products with larger power levels.
Patent CN101572490A proposes a non-complementary control method, which can reduce the frequency as the load decreases, but the existence of negative current still results in large circulating current of the converter and low efficiency under light load, and the existence of negative current makes the primary peak current larger, which results in large no-load power consumption and audible noise.
Disclosure of Invention
In view of the defects of the prior art, the invention aims to provide a multi-mode control method of an active clamp flyback converter, which is mainly used for a low-power-level power supply; the ZVS implementation of the main switching tube, the improvement of light load efficiency and the low no-load power consumption can be guaranteed, meanwhile, the frequency can be further reduced during light load, and frequency mutation cannot be caused during multi-mode conversion.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a multi-mode control method for an active clamp flyback converter, in the flyback converter, a main switching tube controls the current of a primary winding of a flyback transformer, a clamp switching tube clamps the node voltage of the primary side of the flyback transformer, and a controller generates two driving signals for controlling the main switching tube and the clamp switching tube by detecting the feedback voltage of the output end of the flyback converter; the method is characterized in that: the controller realizes mode switching among a back edge non-complementary mode, a front edge non-complementary mode and a front edge non-complementary Burst mode of the two driving signals after detecting the comparison between the feedback voltage and a set mode switching threshold voltage; the mode switching threshold is the first threshold voltage V of the non-complementary mode at the back edge to the non-complementary mode at the front edgeATD(ii) a Second threshold voltage V for leading edge non-complementary mode to trailing edge non-complementary modeDTA(ii) a Burst mode third threshold voltage VBurst;

The working frequencies of the main switching tube and the clamping switching tube are consistent, but the conduction time of the two switching tubes is different, the conduction time of the main switching tube is obtained by comparing the primary peak current sampling voltage with the feedback voltage, the conduction time of the clamping tube is different according to different working modes, and when the clamping tube works in a back edge non-complementary mode, the conduction time of the clamping tube ensures that the main switching tube just realizes ZVS (zero voltage switching) opening; when the front-edge non-complementary mode is operated, the conduction time of the clamping tube is fixed.

Because the threshold values of different power levels are set differently, the controller is provided with two pins for setting a first threshold value and a second threshold value, the first threshold value and the second threshold value are generally set between 5% and 20% of the feedback voltage corresponding to the load, and the resistance values corresponding to the pins are changed according to different requirements; the third threshold is typically set between 2% and 4% of the feedback voltage corresponding to the load.
Further, a fourth threshold voltage V is setfWhen the feedback voltage is lower than the down-conversion fourth threshold voltage VfWhen the feedback voltage is reduced, the switching frequency of the main switching tube is reduced from the maximum frequencySmall; when the feedback voltage is larger than the frequency reduction threshold voltage, the switching frequency of the main switching tube floats by 5% above and below the maximum switching frequency.
Preferably, the fourth threshold voltage is generally set to 60% -70% of the feedback voltage corresponding to the load.
Preferably, the voltage of the feedback voltage FB is less than the third threshold voltage VBurstAnd controlling the converter to work in a burst mode, wherein the burst mode controls the peak current of the primary winding to be a fixed value, and the voltage of the feedback voltage FB is smaller than the voltage of a fifth threshold voltage VBurst_LWhen the main switch tube and the clamping switch tube are in operation, the main switch tube and the clamping switch tube are simultaneously closed to drive signals; when the voltage of the feedback voltage FB is larger than the sixth threshold voltage VBurst_HAnd when the main switch tube and the clamping switch tube are in normal output, driving signals of the main switch tube and the clamping switch tube are normally output.
Wherein the fifth threshold voltage VBurst_LAnd a sixth threshold voltage VBurst_HThe fifth threshold voltage and the sixth threshold voltage are less than the third threshold voltage for values set internally by the
Compared with the prior art, the multimode power supply control method has the beneficial effects that:
1. when the converter is in heavy load, the circulating current of the converter is small, and the conduction time of the clamping tube is different according to different working modes, so that the conduction time of the clamping tube is self-adaptive, and the conduction time of the clamping tube is different under different input voltages;
2. the stability of the loop is not influenced by mode switching, the converter works in a light load during mode switching, and the energy on a clamping capacitor is small at the moment, so that output overshoot or undershoot cannot be caused, and the stability of the loop cannot be influenced;
3. energy on the clamping capacitor is recovered through a leading edge non-complementary mode during light load, and a large resistor does not need to be connected in parallel;
4. the light load efficiency is high, because the leakage inductance energy is not consumed by the resistor, but is transmitted to the secondary side to be applied to the load;
5. the no-load power consumption is low because the leakage inductance energy is not consumed by the resistor but is transmitted to the secondary side to the load.

FIG. 4 is a diagram of the trailing edge non-complementary mode critical waveforms of the multi-mode power supply of the present invention. The following analysis was made with respect to the trailing edge non-complementary working principle:
first stage [ T0 to T1 ]: at time T0, the main switching tube S1 is turned on, the primary current flows through the magnetizing inductor S1, linearly increases, and at time T1, S1 is turned off, and
The second stage [ T1-T2]: at time T1, S1 is turned off, the primary side field current charges the output capacitor of S1, and the output capacitor of S2 discharges, leaving the voltage on the clamp capacitor unchanged. The secondary rectifier diode has two possible states, which depend on the difference between the voltage VC of the clamp capacitor and the voltage Vds _1 across the drain and source of the main switch tube S1. If it is
The diode is turned on; conversely, the diode is turned off. This phase ends when Vds _1 is 0.Third stage [ T2-T3 ]: when Vds _1 drops to zero, the body diode of the clamp switch S2 is turned on. The secondary side rectifier diode is conducted, and the voltage at two ends of the primary side excitation inductor is clamped at-NVO (negative N times output voltage). The leakage inductance Lk and the clamp capacitor resonate.
Fourth stage [ T3 to T4 ]: at time T3, the leakage current drops to zero and the clamp switch S2 turns off. And the secondary side rectifier diode is continuously conducted, the voltage at two ends of the primary side excitation inductor is still clamped at-NVO, and the drain-source voltage of the main switching tube S1 falls to Vin + NVO.
Fifth stage [ T4 to T5 ]: at the time of T4, the current of the secondary side rectifier diode naturally crosses zero, the clamping voltage of the primary side excitation inductor disappears, and the excitation inductor resonates with the output junction capacitors of the main switching tube S1 and the clamping switching tube S2. T5 time clamp switch S2 turns on, and this stage ends.
Sixth stage [ T5 to T6 ]: at the time of T5, the clamping switch tube S2 is switched on, the voltages at two ends of the excitation inductor and the leakage inductor are clamped at-VC, and the voltage of the drain source electrode of the main switch tube S1 rises to Vin + VC. And the secondary side rectifier diode is continuously conducted, the voltage at two ends of the excitation inductor is still clamped at-NVO, so that the voltage at two ends of the leakage inductor is clamped at NVO-VC, the leakage inductor is reversely excited, and the leakage inductor current rises in a resonant mode. At time T6, clamp switch S2 turns off, and this stage ends.
Seventh stage [ T6 to T7 ]: at the time of T6, the clamping switch tube S2 is turned off, the leakage inductance current discharges to the output capacitor of the main switch tube S1, and simultaneously charges to the output capacitor of the clamping switch tube S2, and the voltage VC of the clamping capacitor is kept unchanged. This phase ends when Vds _1 falls to zero.
Eighth stage [ T7 to T8 ]: when Vds _1 drops to zero, the body diode of the main switch tube S1 is turned on. The voltage at the two ends of the leakage inductance Lk is NVO-Vin, the reverse current of the leakage inductance linearly decreases, the main switch tube S1 must be switched on before the current of the leakage inductance reverses again, otherwise, zero-voltage switching-on cannot be realized.
Ninth stage [ T8 to T9 ]: at time T8, the leakage current rises to iLk (T8) which is the excitation current, iLm (T8), the primary current of the ideal transformer drops to zero, and the secondary rectifier diode current crosses zero. The voltage at the two ends of the leakage inductance and the excitation inductance is Vin, and the leakage inductance current and the excitation current keep consistent and linearly rise.
FIG. 5 is a key waveform diagram of the leading edge non-complementary mode of the multi-mode power supply of the present invention. The following analysis was performed for the leading edge non-complementary working principle:
stage one t0~t1: at t0At the moment, the driving signal S1 of the main switching tube is switched from high level to low level, the primary side exciting current charges the output junction capacitor of the main switching tube, and the leakage inductance and the clamping capacitor supply the clamping capacitor through the diode resonant current of the clamping switching tube bodyDischarging when the voltage on the main switch junction capacitor rises to Vin+nVoutWhen the voltage at the two ends of the drain and the source of the clamping switch tube is reduced to zero, the transformer starts to transmit energy to the secondary side.
Stage two t1~t2: at t1At the moment, the voltage at the two ends of the clamping switch tube is reduced to zero, the clamping switch tube realizes zero voltage switching-on, the leakage inductance and the clamping capacitor resonate through the clamping switch tube, the resonant current charges the clamping capacitor, the energy stored in the leakage inductance is transferred to the clamping capacitor to be stored, and at the moment, the transformer still transfers the energy to the secondary side.
Stage three t2~t3: at t2At the moment, the clamping switch tube is closed, the exciting current is not reduced to zero, and energy is continuously transmitted to the secondary side until the exciting current is zero.
Stage four t3~t4: at t3At the moment, the exciting current is zero, the primary side does not transfer energy to the secondary side any more, the voltage at two ends of the transformer winding is zero, and at the moment, the leakage inductance and the exciting inductance of the transformer and the output junction capacitor of the main switching tube resonate together until t4And (4) turning on the main switching tube at the moment, and entering the next period.
Fig. 6 is a key waveform diagram of the burst mode at idle according to the present invention. When the load is unloaded, the converter operates in Burst mode (Burst mode). And entering the burst mode is based on detecting the FB voltage.
If the FB voltage is greater than a Burst mode high threshold value Burst _ H (a sixth threshold value), the controller outputs leading edge pulse signals of the main switching tube and the clamping switching tube;
if the FB voltage is smaller than a Burst mode low threshold value Burst _ L (a fifth threshold value), the controller turns off the leading edge pulse signals of the main switching tube and the clamping switching tube.
If the FB voltage is greater than the Burst mode low threshold value Burst _ L but less than the Burst mode high threshold value Burst _ H, the controller controls the driving signals of the main switching tube and the clamping switching tube to keep the state of the last period, and finally, the FB voltage sampled currently is saved.
