1. Apparatus for fitting a corrosion protection element of a corrosion protection system to an outer surface region of a flexible pipe body, comprising:

A substantially cylindrical fitting body including a first opening at a first end of the cylindrical body and other openings at remaining ends of the cylindrical body, a substantially cylindrical inner surface, and an outer surface including a plurality of spaced apart substantially parallel recessed regions extending circumferentially around the body; wherein

The cylindrical body is tapered at each end and at least one securing element is located between the recessed regions.

2. the apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

The inner surface of the fitting body has an inner diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the outer surface provided by the outer tensile armour layer of the flexible pipe body.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 or 2, further comprising:

The thickness of the body between the inner surface and the outer surface is less than 1cm at locations where the outer surface is not recessed or tapered.

4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the thickness is less than 0.5 cm.

The cylindrical body comprises a plurality of body portions, each body portion providing a respective section of the cylindrical body.

12. The apparatus of any preceding claim, wherein the cylindrical fitting body comprises an anode fitting collar.

13. A method of manufacturing a flexible pipe body, comprising the steps of:

a tensile protection metal wire layer is arranged by spirally winding a tensile protection metal wire on the underlying layer;

Providing at least one substantially cylindrical fitting body over the tensile armour wire layers, the fitting body comprising first and further spaced openings at respective ends of the fitting body and a substantially cylindrical inner surface and at least one fixing element in the outer surface between a plurality of spaced apart recessed regions; and

and an outer sheath is arranged above the assembly main body and the tensile protection layer.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

the fabrication body is disposed over the tensile armour wire layer by locating at least two mating fabrication body portions over the tensile armour wire layer.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

Securing the fitting body portions together to form the substantially cylindrical fitting body.

16. The method of any of claims 13 to 15, further comprising:

Wrapping a strip layer over and/or under the tensile armour wire layer and the assembled body.

17. The method of any of claims 13 to 16, further comprising:

A marking or a plurality of markings are provided on the outer surface of the outer sheath at respective positions relative to the fixing elements of the cylindrical fitting body.

18. The method of any of claims 13 to 17, further comprising:

The cylindrical assembling main body is arranged on the outer surface of the tensile protection layer, and therefore the assembling main body is in interference fit with the outer surface of the tensile protection layer.

19. The method of any of claims 13 to 18, further comprising:

The mounting body is provided in one or more body portions, at least one body portion comprising a metal region.

The fitting body is provided in a plurality of body portions, each of which is entirely made of a metal material.

21. A method of securing an anode to a flexible pipe, comprising the steps of:

Determining a location along a region of flexible pipe body in which a cylindrical fitting body is located, the cylindrical fitting body comprising first and further spaced openings at respective ends of the fitting body and a substantially cylindrical inner surface and a plurality of spaced recessed regions in the outer surface; and

An anode or anode clamp element is secured to the fitting body by locating a securing element between the recessed regions through an outer sheath of the flexible pipe body.

22. The method of claim 21, further comprising:

Clamping the anode or anode clamp element to the outer sheath on an opposite side of a position in which the fixing element is located through the outer sheath.

23. The method of claim 22, further comprising:

pressing an outer jacket material into the spaced apart recessed areas of the cylindrical fitting body via a clamping step, thereby providing a fluid seal on the first and remaining sides of the fixation element.
