7. Household appliance (1; 21; 31; 41) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the projection device (5) is configured as a laser projector or as an LED projector.

Household appliance (1; 21; 31; 41) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the handle recess (4; 24, 25; 33; 45, 46, 48) is provided with at least one operating device for operating an operating region (B1-B19) of the household appliance (1; 21; 31; 41), wherein by means of the projection device (5; 47) explanatory information (IF1-IF20) can be projected onto the respective operating region (B1-B19) for explaining the operating region.

-having a position detector (34) for identifying the position of the object (F) entering the grip recess (4; 24, 25; 33), and

-is provided for determining the position of the object (F) entering into the handle groove (4; 24, 25; 33) relative to at least one operating area (B1-B19) and triggering an action if the object (F) reaches the operating area (B1-B19).

10. Household appliance (1; 21; 31; 41) according to any one of claims 8 or 9, characterized in that a plurality of operating regions (B1-B19) are arranged in a column along the longitudinal extension of the handle groove (4; 24, 25; 33).

11. Household appliance (1; 21) according to any one of claims 9 or 10, characterized in that the position detector has a plurality of gratings arranged along the longitudinal extension of the handle groove.

12. Household appliance (1; 21) according to any one of claims 9 or 10, characterized in that the position detector has at least one infrared sensor.

13. Household appliance (31) according to any of claims 9 or 10, characterized in that the position detector (34) has a plurality of touch-sensitive areas (35, B19) onto which respective information areas (IF19) can be projected.

A method for operating a household appliance (1; 21; 31; 41) having a door (3; 22, 23; 32; 43, 44) with a handle recess (4; 24, 25; 33; 45, 46, 48) and a projection device (5; 47) for injecting light (L) onto the handle recess (4; 24, 25; 33; 45, 46; 47), wherein in the method information (IF1-IF20) is projected onto the handle recess (4; 24, 25; 33; 45, 46, 48) by means of the projection device (5; 47).
