1. A method for treating an aqueous solution,

Wherein the aqueous solution comprises dissolved sugar solids in an amount of 10 wt% to 50 wt% based on the weight of the aqueous solution;

Wherein the dissolved sugar solids contain monosaccharides in an amount of 1 wt% to 99 wt%, based on the weight of the dissolved sugar solids;

Wherein the aqueous solution has a pH of 1 to 3;

wherein the aqueous solution has an ionic conductivity of 100 to 10,000 μ S/cm;

Wherein the method comprises contacting the aqueous solution with an assembly of resin particles,

Wherein the resin particles comprise one or more polymers;

Wherein the polymer comprises methylene bridging groups between aromatic rings;

Wherein the polymer comprises a total amount of 1.4 equivalents or more of amino groups bonded to the resin particles per liter of the aggregate of the resin particles;

Wherein quaternary ammonium groups bonded to the polymer are present in an amount of 0.06 to 0.12 equivalents per liter of the collection of resin particles;

Wherein the resin particles have a water retention capacity of 40 to 50 wt% of water based on the weight of the aggregate of the resin particles;

And wherein the resin particles have a surface area of 100m2/g or less.

2. the method of claim 1, wherein the collection of resin particles has a quotient D60/D10 of less than 1.1.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the methylene bridge groups are present in an amount of 4 wt.% or less based on the total dry weight of the resin particles.

4. the method of claim 1, further comprising a subsequent step of separating the aqueous solution from the collection of resin particles.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of contacting the aqueous solution with the collection of resin particles is performed by passing the aqueous solution through a fixed bed of the collection of resin particles.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the aqueous solution has a color content of 500 or less international color units.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the resin particles have a water-retaining capacity of 40 to 50 wt% of water based on the weight of the aggregate of the resin particles.
