The leather coating composition includes a hydrosilylation-curable silicone elastomer composition comprising: component (i) one or more polydiorganosiloxane polymers having a viscosity at 25 ℃ of from 1000mpa.s to 500,00mpa.s and an alkenyl and/or alkynyl content per molecule of at least 5 wt% of the polymer; component (ii) a reinforcing filler such as finely divided silica optionally treated with one or more known filler treating agents; component (iii) a silicone resin crosslinker having end groups comprising silicone-bonded hydrogen; component (iv) a hydrosilylation catalyst; component (v) a cured silicone powder; and component (vi) an ecological diluent.)

1. A leather coating composition comprising a hydrosilylation-curable silicone elastomer composition comprising:

component (i) one or more polydiorganosiloxane polymers having a viscosity at 25 ℃ of from 1000 to 500,000mpa.s and an alkenyl and/or alkynyl content per molecule of at least 5 wt% of the polymer;

component (ii) a reinforcing filler such as finely divided silica optionally treated with one or more known filler treating agents;

component (iii) a silicone resin crosslinker having end groups comprising silicone-bonded hydrogen;

component (iv) a hydrosilylation catalyst;

component (v) a cured silicone powder; and

component (vi) an ecological diluent.

2. The leather coating composition of claim 1, wherein component (iii) of the hydrosilylation-curable silicone elastomer composition comprises one or more of:

including Si-H containing M groups, (CH)3)3SiO1/2Radical and SiO4/2A silicone resin consisting of or containing a group;

comprising Si-H containing M groups and SiO4/2A silicone resin consisting of or containing a group; including Si-H containing M groups, (CH)3)2SiO2/2Radical and SiO4/2A silicone resin consisting of or containing a group;

comprising Si-H containing M groups, SiO4/2Group and (C)6H5)3SiO1/2A silicone resin consisting of or containing a group; and alternatives wherein methyl is replaced by phenyl or other alkyl groups or mixtures thereof, and wherein each of the foregoing may contain one or more T groups.

3. A leather coating composition according to any preceding claim, wherein the average particle size of the cured silicone elastomer powder (v) is from 0.01 μ ι η to 100 μ ι η.

A leather coating composition according to any of the preceding claims, wherein eco-solvent (vi) comprises or consists of: isopentadecane, isohexadecane, isoheptadecane, isooctadecane, isononadecane, and mixtures thereof or trimethyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxanes having a viscosity of greater than or equal to 5mPa.s at 25 ℃ to equal to or less than (≦)100mPa.s at 25 ℃.

5. The leather coating composition according to claim 4, wherein the eco-solvent (vi) comprises or consists of isohexadecane.

A leather coating composition according to any preceding claim, wherein the composition may comprise one or more additives selected from the group consisting of: one or more low viscosity polydiorganosiloxane polymers having at least one, alternatively at least two, alkenyl and/or alkynyl groups per molecule and a viscosity at 25 ℃ of from 100 to 750 mpa.s; an inhibitor; a non-reinforcing filler; a conductive filler; a non-conductive filler; a shelf life extender; a flame retardant; a pigment; a colorant; a chain extender; a heat stabilizer; a compression set improving additive; a sound-reducing agent; antifreeze and/or biocide.

7. Leather coating composition according to any of the preceding claims, which is a top coating composition for silicone-based synthetic leather.

8. A silicone-based synthetic leather comprising a top coat which is the reaction product obtained when the composition according to claims 1 to 7 is cured.

9. The silicone-based synthetic leather of claim 8, comprising a textile support layer selected from one or more of the following: polyester fibers, viscose rayon fibers, polyamide fibers, nylon, acrylic fibers, polyolefin fibers; cellulosic fibers and elastic web materials.

10. The silicone-based synthetic leather of claim 8 or 9, wherein the top coat has a weskiber (Wyzenbeek) abrasion resistance greater than or equal to 75,000 according to ASTM D4157-13.

11. A method of applying silicone-based synthetic leather with the topcoat composition of any one of claims 1 to 6 by one or more of: including spraying, rolling, brushing, spin coating, dipping, solvent casting, slot coating, spraying, doctor blade coating, or gravure coating.

12. A method of applying silicone-based synthetic leather with the topcoat composition of any one of claims 1 to 5 by:

(i) applying a coating composition as described above to release paper;

(ii) curing a coating composition as described above on the release paper to form a cured topcoat;

(iii) applying a silicone skin over the cured topcoat;

(iv) curing the silicone skin layer to form a cured skin layer such that the cured topcoat layer is sandwiched between the release paper and the cured skin layer;

(v) applying a silicone adhesive composition to the cured skin layer;

(vi) placing a fabric support layer on top of an adhesive layer such that the adhesive layer is sandwiched between the skin layer and the fabric support layer; preferably, the fabric support layer is operatively laminated to the adhesive layer.

(vii) Curing the bonding layer; and

(viii) the release paper is removed as needed.

13. Use of a synthetic leather, in particular a silicone-based synthetic leather, in or for: furniture, upholstery, handbags, luggage, clothing, footwear, automotive upholstery, hospital beds/seats, and the like.

14. Use of the leather coating composition according to any of claims 1 to 6 as a top coat for synthetic leather, which leather coating composition, once cured, improves abrasion and scratch resistance.

15. The use of claim 14, wherein the top coat has a weibull abrasion resistance greater than or equal to 75,000 according to ASTM D4157-13.
