Background

In some applications, it is desirable to know whether the mechanism is in a latched or unlatched state. For example, the locks used to secure the doors of a compartment of a coach or train may be checked prior to initiating a trip. If the lock is not properly locked, luggage belonging to the passenger may be accidentally lost if the door is opened during transport, or stolen during travel if the storage compartment is not properly secured and unattended.

Detailed Description

Referring to fig. 1-8, the present invention discloses a lock mechanism with status indicating function, comprising a housing 1, a cover 2 and an indicator 3, the cover 2 having a central axis 21 and being mounted for rotational movement relative to the housing 1 about the central axis between a latched position and an unlatched position, the indicator 3 being interposed between the cover 1 and the housing 2, the indicator 3 having an indicating portion 31 in covering relation with the cover 1, the indicator 3 being pivotally mounted on the housing 1 about a projection 11, the indicator 3 being radially outwardly moved relative to the cover 2 from the central axis 21 upon rotation of the cover 2 from the latched position to the unlatched position such that the indicating portion 31 of the indicator 3 is no longer in covering relation to the cover; the cover corresponds to the unlocking and latching actions of the lock mechanism, when the cover 2 rotates from the latching position to the unlocking position, the indicator 3 is driven to rotate around a protrusion 11, the protrusion 11 can be a pin-shaped structure integrally formed on the shell 1 (for convenience of forming and mounting, the mode is preferred in the embodiment), or a pin assembled on the shell, or the pin-shaped structure integrally formed on the indicator, the indicator is unfolded, and the indicating part is not covered by the cover any more; the cover 2 is provided with a radial side convex part 22 which extends along the radial direction and rotates with the cover 2 around a central axis 21, the indicator 3 comprises an active indicator 3a and a passive indicator 3b which are arranged along the circumference of the central axis 21, the active indicator 3a is provided with a cam matching surface 3a-1 which extends along the circumference of the central axis 21 and a stop end part 3a-2 which is positioned at one end of the cam matching surface 3a-1 corresponding to the pivot center of the active indicator 3a, the radial side convex part 22 slides along the cam matching surface 3a-1 to cause the active indicator 3a to pivot away from the central axis 21 of the cover 2 around the bulge, the radial side convex part 22 pushes the stop end part 3a-2 of the active indicator 3a and causes the active indicator 3a to pivot around the bulge to a recovery position (shown in figure 5) that the indicating part 31 is covered by the cover 2, and the passive indicator 3b is linked with the active indicator 3a through a gear transmission device, so that the passive indicator 3b is unfolded and folded synchronously with the active indicator 3 a. As disclosed in the prior art, the cover may be configured to receive a driver that transitions the cover from the latched position to the unlatched position. The driver is used to actuate the lock mechanism between the latched and unlatched states. The radial side projections 22 are preferably configured as a cam shape with a curved transition between the radial projection and the base circle.

The passive indicator 3b and the active indicator 3a both extend along the circumferential direction of a central axis 21, the far end 3b-3 of the passive indicator 3b rotating around the pivot mounting center of the passive indicator 3b and the far end 3a-3 of the active indicator 3a rotating around the pivot mounting center of the active indicator 3a are close to each other, so that one end of the active indicator and the passive indicator far away from the pivot mounting center of the active indicator and the passive indicator are in an openable and foldable state, the passive indicator 3b is provided with a yielding surface 3b-1 extending along the circumferential direction of the central axis 21, so that the radial side protrusion 22 slides along the cam matching surface 3a-1, after the active indicator and the passive indicator are synchronously opened, the yielding surface 3b-1 can bear the radial side protrusion 22, and when the cover 2 rotates from the latching position to the unlocking position, the radial side protrusion 22 can slide out of the cam matching surface 3a-1 and enter the yielding surface of the passive indicator 3b 3b-1, the relief surface 3b-1 cooperates with the radial side projection 22 to constitute a passive indicator 3b held in the extended position pivoted away from the central axis 21 of the cover 2 about the projection, against the radial side projection 22. The passive indicator 3b is arranged at one end of the pivot lug and is close to one end of the pivot lug arranged on the active indicator 3a, the tooth transmission device comprises first meshing teeth 3a-4 formed on the active indicator 3a and rotating around the pivot center of the active indicator 3a, and second meshing teeth 3b-4 formed on the passive indicator 3b and rotating around the pivot center of the passive indicator 3b, and the first meshing teeth 3a-4 are in transmission with the second meshing teeth 3 b-4.
