Technical Field

The present invention relates to pesticidal compositions having emamectin benzoate and indoxacarb, and methods of using such compositions.

Background

Many agricultural pesticides (including insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, acaricides, and plant growth regulators) are formulated as suspending agents. Liquid compositions typically comprise one or more adjuvants aimed at improving one or more properties of the composition, such as storage stability, ease of handling, pesticidal efficacy against the target organism.

Chemical control is an important means of preventing and controlling agricultural pests. However, current chemicals do not show satisfactory effects on certain kinds of pests. In addition, many pests have developed resistance to commonly used pesticides due to the long-term use of pesticides. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new methods for controlling these harmful organisms and pesticidal compositions containing them.

Emamectin benzoate (CAS No. 155569-91-8) is an effective insecticide that can control a variety of pests such as thrips, leaf miners and worms (including yellow clover, beet armyworm, cabbage looper, corn earworm, cutworm, diamond back moth, tobacco budworm, persimmon bell worm and tomato worm.

Indoxacarb (methyl (4aS) -7-chloro-2, 5-dihydro-2- [ [ (methoxycarbonyl) [4- (trifluoromethoxy) phenyl ]]Amino group]Carbonyl radical]Indeno [1, 2-e ]][1,3,4]Oxadiazine-4 a (3H) -formate) is an effective insecticide. Indoxacarb was used in 1998 by DuPont in Spain as Avaunt on cottonTMAnd Steward as used on vines, apples and pearsTMThe first push out. It has a novel mode of action, known now as through-resistanceSodium channels within nerve cells are disrupted, resulting in paralysis and death of the target insect. Indoxacarb is a semicarbazone compound developed against lepidopteran species. It demonstrates effective control of lepidopteran insects including species of the genus cochleariae (Cydia), the genus Helicoverpa (heliotropia), the genus Heliothis (heliothris), the genus Lepidoptera (Lobesia), the genus Plutella (Plutella) and the genus Spodoptera (Spodoptera spp). The security and environmental features make the product usable in IPM projects. Indoxacarb was used as Steward for cotton in 2000 in the United statesTMAnd as Avaunt for fruits and vegetablesTMPesticides approved for reduced risk.

Combinations of two pesticides have been used in the prior art. However, there is still a risk of generating resistant insect subpopulations and the effect is still less satisfactory.

Accordingly, there is a constant search for pesticidal compositions that exhibit improved properties.
