1. A polyester composition comprising:

C) about 10 to about 95 weight percent of at least one polyester selected from the group consisting of: poly (trimethylene terephthalate), polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, and copolymers thereof; and

D) about 5 to about 90 weight percent of at least one poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester having poly alpha-1, 3-glucan repeating units having a degree of substitution of about 0.3 to 3 moles of at least one acyl group.

2. The polyester composition of claim 1, wherein the poly α -1, 3-glucan repeating unit of the poly α -1, 3-glucan ester has a degree of substitution of about 0.5 to about 2.8 moles of the at least one acyl group.

3. The polyester composition of claim 1, wherein the poly α -1, 3-glucan repeating unit of the poly α -1, 3-glucan ester has a degree of substitution of about 1.0 to about 2.8 moles of the at least one acyl group.

The polyester composition of claim 1, wherein the poly α -1, 3-glucan ester comprises at least one acyl group selected from the group consisting of: acetyl, benzoyl, heptanoyl, octyl/octanoyl, nonanoyl, decyl/decanoyl, undecanoyl, lauroyl, tridecanoyl, myristyl, pentadecanoyl, palmitoyl, heptadecanoyl, stearyl/stearoyl, nonadecanoyl, arachidyl, heneicosanoyl, behenyl, tricosanoyl, lignoceryl/lignoceryl, pentacosanoyl, ceryl, and combinations of these.

5. The polyester composition of claim 4, wherein the at least one acyl group is selected from the group consisting of: acetyl, decyl/decanoyl, lauroyl, myristyl, palmitoyl, stearyl/stearoyl, and combinations of these.

6. An article comprising the polyester composition of claim 1.

7. The article of claim 6 in the form of an automotive interior part, a consumer electronics product, a toy, a household appliance.

The polyester composition of claim 1, wherein the poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester comprises 0.05 to 0.3 moles of at least one acyl group selected from heptanoyl, octyl/octanoyl, nonanoyl, decyl/decanoyl, undecanoyl, lauroyl, tridecanoyl, myristyl, pentadecanoyl, palmitoyl, heptadecanoyl, stearyl/stearoyl, nonadecanoyl, arachidyl, heneicosanoyl, behenyl, tricosanoyl, lignoceryl/lignoceryl, pentacosanoyl, and ceryl and 2.95 to 2.3 moles of acetyl.

9. A polyester composition comprising:

A) about 10 to about 75 weight percent of at least one polyester selected from the group consisting of: poly (trimethylene terephthalate), polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, and copolymers thereof; and

B) about 25 to about 90 weight percent of at least one poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester having poly alpha-1, 3-glucan repeating units having a degree of substitution of about 0.3 to 3 moles of at least two acyl groups;

wherein the at least one poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester comprises from 0.05 to 0.2 moles of at least one acyl group selected from heptanoyl, octyl/octanoyl, nonanoyl, decyl/decanoyl, undecanoyl, lauroyl, tridecanoyl, myristyl, pentadecanoyl, palmitoyl, heptadecanoyl, stearyl/stearoyl, nonadecanoyl, arachidyl, heneicosanoyl, behenyl, tricosanoyl, lignoceryl/lignoceryl, pentacosanoyl, ceryl; and is

Wherein the polyester composition exhibits an impact strength of at least 10 percent greater than polyester A when measured according to ASTM 256-10.

10. A polyester composition comprising:

C) about 10 to about 85 weight percent of poly (trimethylene terephthalate); and

D) about 15 to about 90 weight percent of at least one poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester having poly alpha-1, 3-glucan repeating units having a degree of substitution of about 2.3 to 2.9 moles of at least two acyl groups;

wherein the at least one poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester comprises from 0.05 to 0.2 moles of at least one acyl group selected from heptanoyl, octyl/octanoyl, nonanoyl, decyl/decanoyl, undecanoyl, lauroyl, tridecanoyl, myristyl, pentadecanoyl, palmitoyl, heptadecanoyl, stearyl/stearoyl, nonadecanoyl, arachidyl, heneicosanoyl, behenyl, tricosanoyl, lignoceryl/lignoceryl, pentacosanoyl, ceryl; and is

Wherein the polyester composition exhibits a heat deflection temperature at least equal to or greater than polyester A when measured according to ASTM D648-16 method B.

11. The polyester composition of claim 1, wherein the poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester comprises 1 to 3 moles of acyl groups and wherein at least 50 percent of the acyl groups are acetyl groups and the remaining acyl groups are selected from C3 to C5 acyl groups.

12. A polyester composition comprising:

A) about 10 to about 80 weight percent of at least one polyester selected from the group consisting of: poly (trimethylene terephthalate), polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, and copolymers thereof; and

B) about 20 to about 90 weight percent of at least one poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester having a degree of substitution of about 2.3 to 2.8 moles of acetyl groups.

13. The polyester composition of claim 12, comprising:

A) about 10 to about 75 weight percent of at least one polyester selected from the group consisting of: poly (trimethylene terephthalate), polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, and copolymers thereof; and

B) about 25 to about 90 weight percent of at least one poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester having a degree of substitution of about 2.3 to 2.8 moles of acetyl groups; and is

Wherein the polyester composition exhibits an impact strength of at least 50 percent greater than polyester A when measured according to ASTM 256-10.

14. A process for making the polyester composition of claim 1, comprising the steps of: mixing

a) About 10 to 95 wt.% of at least one polyester resin;

b) about 5 to about 90 wt.% of at least one poly alpha-1, 3-glucan ester;

c) optionally, about 0.01 to 10 wt.% of at least one additive selected from the group consisting of: nucleating agents, waxes, uv stabilizers, colorants, antioxidants, formaldehyde scavengers, lubricants, impact modifiers, plasticizers, and mixtures of these;

to produce a polyester composition, wherein the total concentration of ingredients is based on the weight of ingredients (a), (b), and (c), and wherein the total concentration of ingredients is equal to 100 weight percent.
