Background

The chemical tempering of glass can effectively improve the surface stress and the bending strength of the glass, and is one of effective strengthening methods for thin glass and products thereof. The chemical toughened glass has high strength, high heat stability, no deformation of surface, high chemical stability, proper cutting and no self explosion. Most importantly, the strength and toughness of thin and irregularly shaped glass articles, which often deform during physical tempering, can be enhanced.

The chemically toughened glass is prepared through the ion exchange between the ions in surface layer of glass and the ions in molten salt, and the volume change of the exchanged ions results in the formation of compressive stress and tensile stress in the glass surface and thus in raised glass strength. However, until now, no mature process and operation system has been established for chemical tempering of glass, especially the problem of initial passivation and inactivation of molten salt, which affects the quality and yield of chemical tempering of glass. In order to prevent deactivation of the molten salt, al powder and Si fine powder are added to the molten salt and SO2 is blown, and an activator such as SnO2 is added, but the effect is not preferable.

Compared with the prior art, the invention has the advantages of prolonging the service life of the glass toughening fused salt and reducing the glass toughening cost.
