1. An image reading apparatus is characterized by comprising:

a reading unit that reads a conveyed medium;

a first discharge roller pair configured to nip the medium read by the reading unit between a first roller and a second roller and discharge the medium;

a second discharge roller pair that is provided at an interval in a width direction intersecting a medium conveyance direction with respect to the first discharge roller pair, and that discharges the medium read by the reading section by nipping the medium between a third roller and a fourth roller;

a first rib portion located on one side in the width direction and protruding from the first roller side toward the second roller side, the first rib portion forming the medium read by the reading portion into a mountain shape and a valley shape; and

a second rib portion located on the opposite side of the first rib portion in the width direction and protruding from the third roller side toward the fourth roller side to form the medium read by the reading portion into a mountain shape and a valley shape,

the first rib is provided at a position overlapping with the first discharge roller pair when the image reading apparatus is viewed from a side surface,

the second rib is provided at a position overlapping with the second discharge roller pair when the image reading apparatus is viewed from the side.

2. The image reading apparatus according to claim 1,

the first rib has a first apex at a front end in the projecting direction,

the second rib has a second apex at a front end in the projecting direction,

the first crest is provided at a first position beyond a first nip position of the first discharge roller pair in a direction in which the first rib protrudes,

the second apex portion is provided at a second position beyond a second nip position of the second discharge roller pair in a direction in which the second rib portion protrudes.

3. The image reading apparatus according to claim 1 or 2,

the first discharge roller pair and the second discharge roller pair are both disposed between the first rib and the second rib.

4. The image reading apparatus according to claim 3,

the first discharge roller pair and the second discharge roller pair are provided with third ribs that protrude in a direction opposite to a protruding direction of the first ribs and the second ribs.

5. The image reading apparatus according to claim 1,

the first rib is provided on either one of a rotation axis of the first roller and a rotation axis of the second roller,

the second rib is provided on either one of the rotation axis of the third roller and the rotation axis of the fourth roller.

6. The image reading apparatus according to claim 2,

the first rib is configured to be displaceable between the first position and a third position retracted from the medium conveyance path without contacting the conveyed medium,

the second rib is configured to be displaceable between the second position and a fourth position retracted from the medium conveyance path without contacting the conveyed medium.

7. The image reading apparatus according to claim 6,

the image reading apparatus includes a control unit that controls displacement of the first rib and the second rib,

the control unit controls displacement of the first rib and the second rib according to the rigidity of the medium.

8. The image reading apparatus according to claim 7,

the image reading apparatus includes a medium detecting section,

the medium detection unit is provided upstream of the reading unit and includes:

a transmission unit for transmitting ultrasonic waves; and

a receiving unit that receives the ultrasonic waves transmitted from the transmitting unit and outputs output values corresponding to the received ultrasonic waves,

the control unit controls the first rib and the second rib based on a detection result of the medium detection unit.

9. The image reading apparatus according to claim 7 or 8,

the control unit controls the first rib and the second rib based on a reading result of the reading unit.

10. An image reading apparatus is characterized by comprising:

a reading unit that reads a conveyed medium;

a discharge roller pair configured to nip the medium read by the reading unit between a first roller and a second roller and discharge the medium;

a first rib portion located on one side in a width direction intersecting a medium conveyance direction with respect to the discharge roller pair, protruding from the first roller side toward the second roller side, and forming the medium read by the reading portion into a mountain shape and a valley shape; and

a second rib portion located on the opposite side of the first rib portion in the width direction with respect to the discharge roller pair, protruding from the first roller side toward the second roller side, and forming the medium read by the reading portion into a mountain shape and a valley shape,

the first rib and the second rib are provided at positions overlapping with the pair of discharge rollers when the image reading apparatus is viewed from the side.

11. The image reading apparatus according to claim 10,

the first rib has a first apex at a tip in the projecting direction,

the second rib has a second apex at the front end in the protruding direction,

the first apex portion is provided at a first position beyond a nip position of the pair of discharge rollers in a direction in which the first rib portion protrudes,

the second apex portion is provided at a second position beyond a nip position of the discharge roller pair in a direction in which the second rib portion protrudes.

Technical Field

The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus that reads an image.

Background

A scanner, which is an example of an image reading apparatus, is provided with an automatic document feeder, and may be configured to be capable of automatically feeding and reading a plurality of documents. The automatic conveying device is also sometimes called an ADF (Auto document feeder).

The plurality of documents conveyed are read by a reading unit provided downstream in the conveying direction of the automatic conveying apparatus.

In such a scanner, a discharge roller is provided downstream of the reading section, and the originals are discharged to the outside of the apparatus and stacked in the order of discharge. Patent document 1 is an example of a scanner having such a configuration.

Disclosure of Invention

Here, the original discharged by the discharge roller may curl. When reading a plurality of documents in an image reading apparatus, if a document read first is discharged in a curled state, the following documents may jam or the discharged documents may be loaded out of order, resulting in a decrease in stackability.

In particular, such a problem is likely to occur when the original is a thin medium having low rigidity or a medium originally formed with creases, wrinkles, or the like.

Patent document 1 discloses that stackability is improved by reducing the discharge speed of the discharge rollers. However, there may be a medium that is easily curled, which cannot be dealt with only by reducing the discharge speed.

An image reading apparatus according to the present invention for solving the above problems includes: a reading unit that reads a conveyed medium; a discharge roller pair configured to nip and discharge the medium read by the reading unit by a first roller and a second roller; a first rib that is disposed at a position overlapping the discharge roller pair in the medium conveying direction and protrudes from one roller side of the first roller and the second roller toward the other roller side, and that is located on one side in a width direction intersecting the medium conveying direction with respect to the discharge roller pair; and a second rib located on an opposite side of the discharge roller pair from the first rib in the width direction.
