Technical Field

The present invention relates to an apparatus for providing information to a person wishing to enter a land vehicle.

Background

As known to those skilled in the art, and in particular as described in patent document US 2016/207448, some land vehicles, generally cars, comprise a projection device for projecting an image on the ground. More specifically, an image is projected onto an area beside a side door that has just opened to alert personnel outside the vehicle that at least one passenger may come out of the cab. The projected image comprises, for example, a single graphic representing a person or exclamation point ("|").

This information is provided specifically for persons located outside the vehicle in order to ensure that the passengers are safely alight. The provision of such information is therefore not at all used to provide information to a person, in particular a driver, before he has not entered the vehicle, for example in order to alert the person or driver to traffic problems, alternative traffic or bad weather conditions.

Disclosure of Invention

The invention aims in particular to improve this situation.

To this end, the invention proposes an information providing device intended, on the one hand, to be fitted to a vehicle, which is a land vehicle and comprises a communication module connected to a wireless communication network, and, on the other hand, comprising projection means adapted to be mounted on at least part of the vehicle and adapted to project at least one image on the ground.

The device is characterized in that it further comprises control means which, when a detected person is ready to enter the vehicle, determine, from the information received from the wireless communication network through the communication module, whether part of this information is relevant to this detected person, and in the affirmative, trigger the projection by the projection means of at least one image representative of this determined information on the ground, which is immediately adjacent to at least one area where access to the vehicle is allowed.

By means of the invention, it is now possible to alert a detected person to a problem or event associated therewith before the person enters the vehicle.

The device according to the invention may comprise further features which may be adopted individually or in combination, in particular:

the projection means of the device may comprise at least a first pico projector adapted to be mounted on a first lateral portion of the vehicle, the first lateral portion being adapted to project in an area allowing access to the cab of the vehicle;

the projection means of the apparatus may comprise a second pico projector adapted to be mounted in a second lateral portion of the vehicle adapted to project in the region where access to the front passenger seat of the vehicle is allowed, and/or a third pico projector adapted to be mounted in the rear portion of the vehicle adapted to project in the region behind the item storage space where access to the vehicle is allowed;

the control means of the apparatus may determine information that makes it difficult or prohibits driving the vehicle;

the determination information of the device may be selected from: receiving road information, weather information, pollution information, electronic messages and audio messages received by a telephone mailbox;

road (including alternate traffic), weather and pollution information may be related to the preset route the vehicle is about to take;

the control means of the device may trigger the projection of the image(s) upon receipt of a dedicated message generated by the detection means of the vehicle in the event of detection of a person in the vicinity of the vehicle.

The invention also proposes a land vehicle, optionally of the motor vehicle type, comprising a communication module connected to a wireless communication network, and an information providing device of the above-mentioned type.

When the vehicle is of the motor vehicle type, it may comprise an underbody to which the projection means of the information providing device of the vehicle are fixedly connected.

Drawings

Further features and advantages of the invention will emerge from a review of the following detailed description and the attached drawings, in which the only figure (fig. 1) shows schematically and functionally in top view a vehicle equipped with a communication module connected to a wireless communication network and an embodiment of an information providing device according to the invention.

Detailed Description

The invention is intended in particular to propose an information providing device DF intended to be equipped with a vehicle V, which is a land vehicle and is connected to a wireless communication network RC, and to project on the ground at least one information image IP intended for a person CD detected and ready to enter the vehicle V.

In the following, by way of non-limiting example, the vehicle V is considered to be an automobile. The invention is not limited to this type of vehicle, however. In fact, the invention relates to any type of land vehicle connected to a wireless communication network and able to accommodate at least one person. Accordingly, the present invention relates equally and specifically to utility vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, coaches (or buses), trucks, construction machines, agricultural vehicles, and road maintenance vehicles.

Fig. 1 schematically shows a land vehicle V, here a car, and which comprises a communication module MCN and an information provision device DF according to the invention.

The communication module MCN is connected to a wireless communication network RC, for example of the 4G type. Thus, the vehicle V is a so-called connected vehicle, since it can receive information provided by at least one information server Sn directly or indirectly connected to the wireless communication network RC when it is in the running or sleep mode.

As shown in fig. 1, the information providing apparatus DF according to the present invention comprises at least projecting means MPj and control means MCT.

The projection device MPj is adapted to be mounted in at least a portion PLj of the vehicle V and to project in sequence at least one image on the ground immediately adjacent to at least one zone Zj of the vehicle V to which access is allowed.

For example, these projection devices MPj may be mounted on the underbody of the vehicle V. However, the projection device MPj may also be mounted in an exterior rear view mirror of the vehicle V, in a bumper or rear bumper of the vehicle V, or to the side of a roof or roof of the vehicle V.

Also by way of example, and as illustrated in non-limiting manner in fig. 1, the projection device MPj may comprise at least one first micro-projector MP1(j ═ 1), the first micro-projector MP1 being adapted to be mounted on a first lateral portion PL1 of the vehicle V, the first lateral portion PL1 being adapted to project in a zone Z1, the zone Z1 allowing access to the driving position of the vehicle V. "pico projector" herein refers to a pico projector type miniaturized video projector (optionally with LEDs), such as those used in some cell phones.

Here, the first micro projector MP1 is mounted on a left side rail of the vehicle V, which is located on one side of a driving position including a driver seat and a steering wheel.

Also by way of example, and as shown in non-limiting manner in fig. 1, the projection device MPj may additionally comprise a second micro-projector MP2, the second micro-projector MP2 being adapted to be mounted in a second lateral portion PL2 of the vehicle V, the second lateral portion PL2 being adapted to project in a zone Z2, the zone Z2 allowing access to a front passenger seat of the vehicle V, the front passenger seat zone being located beside the driver's seat.

Here, the second pico projector MP2 is mounted on the right side rail of the vehicle V, which is located on the front passenger seat side.

Alternatively or additionally, as shown in non-limiting form in fig. 1, projection device MPj may include a third pico projector MP3, which third pico projector MP3 is adapted to be mounted at a rear portion PR of vehicle V, which rear portion PR is adapted to project in a rear zone Z3, which rear zone Z3 allows access to the item storage space of vehicle V. The article storage space may be a luggage compartment or a rear load compartment.

It should be noted that the projection device MPj may include any number of pico projectors, so long as the number is at least equal to one. Thus, the projection device may include only one pico projector, two pico projectors, or more than three pico projectors (e.g., five when the vehicle includes four side doors and one trunk or back door). When the vehicle V includes only one pico projector, since the information to be provided particularly relates to the driver, the projector is preferably mounted on the first lateral portion PL1 on the side of the driving position.

When a detected person CD is ready to enter the vehicle V, the control means MCT determine, among the information received from the wireless communication network RC through the communication module MCN, whether some of the information is related to the detected person. In the affirmative case, the control means MCT trigger, through the projecting means MPj, the projection of at least one image IP representative of these determinative information on the ground, in the immediate vicinity of at least one zone Zj of admission to the vehicle V.

Here, a person is considered to have been detected when the device of the vehicle V has determined the information stored in the electronic access device DE carried by the person CD, which information is known to the vehicle V and allows access to the vehicle (V), for example to unlock the locking/unlocking means of the vehicle V and/or to start the motor means of the vehicle V. Thus, the person is the user of the vehicle V. As an example, the electronic access device DE may be an electronic access key (or "smart key" or "key fob"), a hands-free electronic access card, or a smartphone (or "smartphone").

In the example shown in non-limiting manner in fig. 1, a person CD is detected in the vicinity of the zone Z1 beside the door on the left side of the driving position, and the control means MCT therefore trigger the first pico projector MP1 to project an image IP on this zone Z1, which image represents certain information relating to this person CD. This very advantageously allows the detected person CD to be alerted to a problem or event associated therewith before the person enters the vehicle V.

In a variant, however, the control means MCT may be arranged to trigger the simultaneous projection of the same image IP in each of the zones Zk (here Z1 to Z3).

It should be noted that the control means MCT are advantageously arranged for determining information relating to the detected person, which information may make it difficult to drive the vehicle V or prohibit driving the vehicle V. It will be appreciated that in practice, the goal is to alert the detected person CD of the risk, problem or event, rather than to indicate any "normal" information to the person that is unlikely to cause the person to take into account or react to the use of the vehicle V.

For example, the information determined by the control means MCT can be chosen from: the reception of road information, weather information, pollution information, electronic messages, and the reception of audio messages by a telephone mailbox.

This information can be provided by an information station Sn (here n ═ 1 or 2) which is accessible via the wireless communication network RC. This information is obtained by the control means MCT by request, for example, after detection of the person CD. For example, the first site S1(n ═ 1) may provide road information and/or weather information and/or pollution information, while the second site S2(n ═ 2) may provide information indicating receipt of an electronic message and/or receipt of an audio message by a telephone mailbox.

It should be understood that the road information, the meteorological information and the pollution information relate more specifically to routes as described below: the vehicle (V) will take the route once the person CD is detected as being seated in the vehicle, for example, the driver's seat. It is therefore preferred that the control means MCT analyze the information received by the communication module MCN in order to determine and indicate, by means of the projection images IP, only information that may make it difficult or prohibit driving of the vehicle V. This is particularly the case with information relating to: the occurrence of heavy rain, ground ice, fog or strong winds, flooding areas or areas that may be flooded with floods, or areas that are contaminated, snowfall, accidents, slow or interrupted traffic, diversions, or alternate traffic where certain vehicles are prohibited from passing at a given moment.

For example, when the vehicle V comprises a navigation aid of a preset route (or path), the control means MCT may provide only road (including alternate traffic) and/or weather and/or pollution information relating to the preset route to be taken by the vehicle V. Advantageously, this allows providing the driver with only information directly related to the route on which his vehicle will travel, and thus avoids the driver having to choose among the information provided to him by means of the projected image IP. Thus, the driver can for example very quickly decide to change his departure time, cancel his journey, find a new route, or change the vehicle.

As an illustrative example only, in this unique figure, the projection image IP shows that the passage of the vehicle V is prohibited on a prescribed date, since the decision of alternate passage is made by the local authority.

Likewise, it is preferred that the control means MCT indicate the received message with urgent or very urgent nature only by means of the projection image IP. Thus, the driver's CD may, for example, very quickly access the relevant messages in order to analyze each indicated message, which may cause the driver to change his departure time, cancel his trip or find a new route.

It should be understood that the received message is a message relating to a person CD, whose at least one communication account number has been stored in advance in the vehicle V by the information provision device DF in correspondence with the information contained in the electronic access device DE.

It should also be noted that the control means MCT can trigger the projection of images of different types, that is to say including the selection of text from a plurality of texts, predetermined or not, and/or of patterns from a plurality of patterns.

It will be appreciated that the control means MCT are arranged to generate each data file defining an information image IP to be projected, and to supply each file to each relevant sub-portion of the projection means MPj.

It should also be noted that the control means MCT may be arranged to generate and trigger the projection of a succession of images IP when it is desired that the information provided to the CD of the detected person (or user) cannot be included in a single image to be projected.

It should also be noted that the control means MCT may be arranged to trigger the projection of the image(s) IP upon reception of specific information, generated by the detection means MDk of the vehicle V upon detection of a person in the vicinity of the vehicle V.

These detection means MDk comprise, for example, at least one transmitter/receiver which is able to communicate with the electronic access device DE carried by the person CD, in particular for receiving information stored by the electronic access device DE. In the example shown in fig. 1 without limitation, the detection means MDk comprise as many transmitters/receivers as there are regions Zj in which the image IP can be projected (hence k ═ j). This arrangement serves to allow accurate positioning of the person CD with respect to each zone Zk. However, this is not essential. In practice, the number of transmitters/receivers MDk may take any value greater than or equal to one (1). It is also conceivable that the detection means MDk also comprise at least one digital camera for allowing the identification of one or more different persons, whose pictures have been previously stored in the information providing device DF. As a variant, the detection means MDk may also comprise at least one radar for detecting the presence of a person around the vehicle V in order to locate this person with respect to the vehicle (V).

It should also be noted that in the example shown in non-limiting manner in figure 1, the control means MCT are installed in a computer (or microprocessor) CA which can optionally ensure at least one other function in the vehicle V. The computer CA may be, for example, a telematic box (optionally known by the acronym BSRF ("radio frequency service box")). This is not necessary, however. The control means MCT can therefore be made in the form of a software module (or information module (or "software")), or in the form of a combination of electronic circuits (or "hardware") and software modules (or "software").
