1. An apparatus for generating a decoded binaural signal, comprising:

an audio processor (802) for decoding the encoded binaural signal to obtain a first set of first spectral portions;

a parametric decoder (804) for providing: parametric data for a second set of second spectral portions and a binaural identification for identifying a first binaural representation of the second spectral portions or a different second binaural representation; and

a frequency regenerator (806) for regenerating a second spectral portion in dependence on the first spectral portion of the first set of first spectral portions, the parametric data for the second spectral portion and the binaural identification of the second spectral portion.

2. Audio encoder for encoding a binaural audio signal, comprising:

a time-to-spectrum converter (860) for converting the two-channel audio signal into a spectral representation;

a binaural analyzer (864) for analyzing frequency bands of the binaural audio signal within the reconstruction range to determine a binaural indication identifying a reconstruction frequency band of the first binaural representation or of the second binaural representation;

a spectrum analyzer (860) for providing an indication of a first set of first spectral portions to be encoded at a first spectral resolution and a second set of second spectral portions to be encoded at a second spectral resolution, the second spectral resolution being smaller than the first spectral resolution;

a core encoder (870) for encoding a first set of first spectral portions to provide a first encoded representation; and

a parameter calculator (868) for calculating parametric data for the second set of second spectral portions;

wherein the encoded binaural audio signal comprises the first encoded representation, the encoded parametric representation of the second set of second spectral portions and the binaural identification.

3. A method for generating a decoded binaural signal, comprising:

decoding (802) the encoded binaural signal to obtain a first set of first spectral portions;

providing (804) parametric data for a second set of second spectral portions and a binaural identification for identifying a first binaural representation or a different second binaural representation for the second spectral portions; and

the second spectral portion is reproduced (806) in dependence on the first spectral portion of the first set of first spectral portions, the parametric data for the second spectral portion and the binaural identification of the second spectral portion.

4. A method for encoding a binaural audio signal, comprising:

converting (860) the binaural audio signal into a spectral representation;

analyzing (864) frequency bands of the binaural audio signal within the reconstruction range to determine a binaural identification for identifying a reconstruction frequency band of the first binaural representation or of the second binaural representation;

providing (860) an indication of a first set of first spectral portions to be encoded at a first spectral resolution and a second set of second spectral portions to be encoded at a second spectral resolution, the second spectral resolution being less than the first spectral resolution;

encoding (870) the first set of first spectral portions to provide a first encoded representation; and

calculating (868) parametric data for a second set of second spectral portions;

wherein the encoded binaural audio signal comprises the first encoded representation, the encoded parametric representation of the second set of second spectral portions and the binaural identification.

5. A computer program which, when run on a computer or processor, performs one of the methods according to claim 3 or 4.
