1. A hydrosilylation-curable polysiloxane comprising at least one of a unit of formula (I) and a unit of formula (II)

5. The polysiloxane of claim 4, wherein [ R ] in formula (I) or formula (II)2R3SiO2/2]The unit is of 10 to 500 [ R ]2R3SiO2/2]A portion of the polysiloxane chain of the unit.

Detailed Description

Unless otherwise indicated, percentages are weight percentages (wt%) and temperatures are in units of ° c. Unless otherwise indicated, the operations were performed at room temperature. Alkyl groups are saturated hydrocarbon groups which may be straight-chain or branched. Preferably, the alkyl group has one to six carbon atoms, preferably one or two. An alkenyl group is a hydrocarbyl group that may be straight-chain or branched and has at least one aliphatic carbon-carbon double bond, preferably one aliphatic carbon-carbon double bond. Preferably, the alkenyl group does not have an aromatic ring. Preferably, the alkyl and alkenyl groups are unsubstituted. The aryl group is derived from an aromatic compound which may be mononuclear or polynuclear. The aryl group may be substituted with an alkyl or alkoxy group. The present invention also relates to a curable silicone composition comprising the hydrosilylation-curable polysiloxane. Preferably, the composition further comprises a hydrosilylation catalyst and a crosslinking agent.

Preferably, the hydrosilylation catalyst is present in the curable silicone composition in a catalytic amount along with an amount of polysiloxane sufficient to promote curing of the composition. Suitable hydrosilylation catalysts include, but are not limited to, platinum group metals including platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, palladium, osmium, or iridium metals or organometallic compounds thereof and combinations of any two or more thereof. In a preferred embodiment, the hydrosilylation catalyst is platinum black, platinum compounds such as chloroplatinic acid, chloroplatinic acid hexahydrate, the reaction product of chloroplatinic acid with a monohydric alcohol, platinum bis (ethylacetoacetate), platinum bis (acetylacetonate), platinum dichloride, and complexes of platinum compounds with olefins or low molecular weight organopolysiloxanes or platinum compounds microencapsulated in a matrix or core-shell type structure.

Preferably, the hydrosilylation catalyst is present in the composition in an amount of from 0.1 to 5ppm, preferably at least 0.2ppm, preferably at least 0.25ppm, preferably not more than 3ppm, preferably not more than 2ppm, preferably not more than 1.5ppm, preferably not more than 1ppm, preferably not more than 0.7ppm, preferably not more than 0.5 ppm.

Preferably, the cross-linking agent is a polysiloxane containing at least two, preferably at least three, silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms. Preferably, the silicon-bonded group other than silicon-bonded hydrogen is phenyl or C1-10Alkyl groups in an amount to provide from about 0.8 moles to about 2.5 moles, preferably from 0.8 moles to 1.5 moles, preferably from 0.9 moles to 1.2 moles of silicon-bonded hydrogen per 1 mole of total alkenyl groups in the organopolysiloxane.
