1. A method for operating an implantable ventricular assist system (2), comprising the steps of:

a) determining a first impedance parameter at a first point in time by means of the auxiliary system (2),

b) determining a second impedance parameter at a second point in time by means of the auxiliary system (2),

c) determining a change in an impedance parameter at least when using the first impedance parameter and the second impedance parameter, or comparing at least the first impedance parameter or the second impedance parameter to a threshold.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the impedance parameter is used to determine ventricular volume.

3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the impedance parameter is measured by at least two electrodes (4, 5) arranged on the auxiliary system (2).

4. The method of any of the preceding claims, wherein impedance measurements are made at different frequencies.

5. The method according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the conductivity of the fluid is determined by impedance measurements in a defined volume (6) of the auxiliary system (2).

6. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein a fluid volume flow (7) through the auxiliary system (2) is determined.

7. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein a total fluid volume flow (1) in a region of the auxiliary system (2) is determined.

8. A processing unit (8) configured to perform the method according to any of the preceding claims.

9. An implantable ventricular assist system (2), comprising:

-a measurement device (9) configured to determine a first impedance parameter at a first point in time and a second impedance parameter at a second point in time,

-a processing unit (8) configured to determine a change in an impedance parameter using at least the first and second impedance parameters or to compare at least the first or second impedance parameter with a threshold value.

10. Auxiliary system according to claim 9, wherein the measuring device (9) comprises at least two electrodes (4, 5) by means of which the impedance can be measured.

11. Auxiliary system according to claim 9 or 10, wherein the measuring device (9) is designed for impedance measurements at different frequencies.

12. Auxiliary system according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising a sleeve (13) for supplying a fluid and a flow generator (14, 16) for generating a fluid flow.

13. Auxiliary system according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising means for determining a fluid volume flow (7).
