A preparation method of molded granular activated carbon prepared from fast growing wood processing residues is characterized by comprising the steps of crushing and sieving the fast growing wood processing residues, fully mixing materials with the particle size of 0.2-1mm and the water content of 1 wt.% ~ 15 wt.% with phosphoric acid solution, wherein the mass ratio of the materials to pure phosphoric acid is 1 (1.0 ~ 2.0.0), kneading the materials at 100 ~ 200 ℃ for no more than 90min, then placing the materials in an oil pressure molding device, pressing the materials into columnar granules with the diameter of 4mm, hardening the extruded columnar granules at 140 ℃ for 2h, preserving the heat at 300 ~ 600 ℃ for 0.5 ~ 2h for carbon activation, cooling the granules to room temperature after reaction is finished, rinsing the granules with distilled water until the pH value is 5-6, and drying the granules to obtain the activated carbon.

Along with the improvement of the economy, science and technology and the living standard of people in China, the demand of products which can improve the living and working environment and are beneficial to the environmental health is increasingly large, the granular activated carbon overcomes the defects of the powdery activated carbon, and the granular activated carbon is more and more valued and applied in the field of adsorption and purification, especially in the field of VOCs adsorption, and has wide market prospect.

The conventional preparation of the molded granular activated carbon based on a physical method needs a binder, and has the problems of high production energy consumption, high cost, low yield, complex operation and high price; the chemical method for producing the granular activated carbon is beneficial to improving the product yield and reducing the energy consumption and the production cost, but the high adsorbability and the high strength of the granular activated carbon are often difficult to meet simultaneously.

The fast growing wood processing residues are cedar wood chips, poplar wood chips, phoenix tree wood chips, paulownia chips or Chinese red pine chips.

The dipping mass ratio of the materials to the phosphoric acid is 1 (1.0-1.5).

The pretreatment temperature is 150-180 ℃.

The kneading time is 50-65 min.
