Drawings

In order to understand the invention and to see how it may be carried out in practice, various embodiments will now be described, by way of non-limiting example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIGS. 1-3 illustrate several components of an embodiment of the present invention.

Detailed Description

The following description is provided, along with all chapters of the present invention, to enable any person skilled in the art to make and use the invention and sets forth the best modes contemplated by the inventors of carrying out their invention. Various modifications, however, will remain apparent to those skilled in the art, since the general principles of the present invention have been defined specifically to provide an apparatus and method for battery locking.

In the following detailed description, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of several embodiments of the invention. However, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that the several embodiments may be practiced without these specific details. As each feature can reflect the whole, it can also produce the remaining components. Finally, when such features appear, they can reflect a completely new feature. Throughout this specification, the terms "one embodiment" or "an embodiment" mean that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least one embodiment of the present invention.

The words "at least one," "one or more," and/or "are open-ended expressions that both function as a conjunction or conjunction with a meaning. For example, each of the several expressions "at least one of A, B and C", "at least one of A, B or C", "one or more of A, B and C", "one or more of A, B or C", and "A, B and/or C" refers to a alone a, a alone B, a alone C, A and B together, a and C together, B and C together, or A, B and C together.

The term "plurality" refers hereinafter to any positive integer (e.g., 1, 5, or 10).

The present invention relates to systems and methods that allow for locking a removable battery to a personal mobile device, such as an electric bicycle, electric scooter, etc.

In general, the systems and methods may allow for replacement or modification of the guide rails along which the batteries slide as they are inserted and removed. The guide rail of the present invention may enhance several capabilities of locking or theft prevention.

Removable batteries typically have an internal locking cylinder that uses a pin that protrudes from the battery into a cut-out (cut) or a groove (groove) in the original rail, and the pin is visible and accessible from the outside of the rail. At the same time, the guide itself is mounted in a recess (access) of the battery. The top of the rail is also visible and accessible.

A thief would typically use both of these features to steal a locked battery. They use a hammer and another implement such as a metal pin, screwdriver, etc. to strike the pin. This action will push back the locked pin, enabling a thief to steal the battery. Alternatively, the thief may attempt to insert a tool (e.g., a flat head screw or other metal instrument) between the rail and the battery and then "pop" the pin of the battery out of the rail notch or groove, thereby enabling the thief to steal the battery.

Thus, in one embodiment of the present invention, the removable battery locking mechanism may comprise an adjustable rail 100, the adjustable rail 100 comprising a bolt 102, the bolt 102 connecting a lower section 103 and an upper section 104.

The adjustable rail allows a user to adjust the length of the rail to snugly receive a battery 101 and fit in the rail recess of the battery. This feature may allow a user to use the inventive device with multiple batteries of several different lengths.

The guide rail may have openings 105, 106 in its lower and upper sections to allow it to be detachably connected to the mobile device using hidden connection means when the battery is connected to the mobile device. This may not allow a thief to remove the rail itself in order to steal the battery. The battery itself may hide the several screws and not allow access to them.

The upper and lower sections may have protrusions 108, 109 on opposite sides of the cell. These components may be adapted to receive the bolt and thereby allow a user to extend the length of the rail to accommodate the battery.

In some embodiments of the invention, these parts protrude a sufficient distance so that they may reach the frame of the mobile device and thus add another layer of protection to not allow a thief to pull them.

The upper section of the guide rail may have a recess 110 and a reinforcing outer member, the recess 110 being adapted to receive the battery locking pin, the reinforcing outer member being adapted to cover the pin. This stiffening outer part hides the pin from view and does not allow to touch it from the rear or to bend the rail.

The upper section of the rail may have an adjustable screw 111, the adjustable screw 111 being located on the upper portion of the upper section that protrudes from the battery side and allowing a user to adjust the screw to contact the battery when inserted. The screw may not allow a thief to insert an instrument, such as a flat head screwdriver (flat head screwdriver), attempting to "pop" the pin out of the notch or groove in which it is locked. In addition, the screw may jam, as in some embodiments of the invention, attempting to pull on the battery. In further embodiments of the invention, the screw may be spring loaded and may be actuated as the battery is inserted into position.

In some embodiments of the present invention, the openings 105, 106 are elongated slots (long grooves) that allow a user to attach the guide rail of the present invention to the mobile device in different locations, thereby making it easier to manufacture a multi-function rail (versatile rail) that can be used for more than one model of mobile device.

In some embodiments of the invention, the rail may have a protrusion from the upper section, and the component may have a cutout adapted to receive a lock 107, wherein the lock may be attached to the rail and has sufficient length to prevent an attempt to pull the battery, as it may protrude above the top of the battery. In some embodiments of the invention, such a lock may be any lock that can cover the top of the battery.

In several further embodiments of the invention, the lock may be adapted to be further connected to a chair of the mobile device. For example, by using a projection that is located under the seat and connected to one of its several components.

In some embodiments of the invention, the lock may be adapted to be further connected to the handle of the battery as another layer of protection.

In some embodiments of the invention, the guide rail may have a part protruding from the upper section, the upper section having a lockable L-lock, the lockable L-lock may be adapted to prevent attempted pulling of the battery when in a locked position and moved to the side, and to not prevent attempted pulling of the battery when in an unlocked position. In further embodiments of the invention, this may be achieved using a pin passing through the reinforcing outer member, which pin may have a recess adapted to receive a locking pin of the battery and lock the pin in place. The locking position may be a state in which the position of the upper protruding part is set in such a manner that the battery can be prevented from being pulled upward.

In some embodiments of the invention, the cutout may be used to install several accessories when a lock is not in use.

In some embodiments of the invention, the implement may further comprise a locking chain. The locking chain passes through the gap between the bolt and the battery and allows locking around an object. This may allow locking the entire mobile device to an object, such as a bicycle locking station.

In an embodiment of the invention, these several objectives are achieved with a battery 201 locking mechanism comprising a reinforcing outer part 202, said locking pin 203 being adapted to cover the battery, when the guide rail 204 may enter the cavity created by the reinforcing outer part and allow the pin to lock into a recess in the guide rail.

In some embodiments of the invention, the appliance may further comprise a shock absorber located on the battery side of the upper section of the rail.

In one embodiment of the present invention, a cable 301 may be attached at a first end thereof to the lower section 302. This may be achieved using fastening means 303, such as a screw (screen) or bolt (bolt), said fastening means 303 being accessible only from said inner side of said lower section. Since it can only be accessed from the inside, once attached to the battery, it may not be accessible at all, thus avoiding intervention thereof. It is understood that the term "cable" in this application may be used to describe any cable, chain, lockwire or other number of interchangeable implements.

The cable may be adapted to pass freely through the recess 304 formed between the lower section and the upper section, as in one embodiment of the invention, or into the recess 305 formed between the battery and the upper section, as in another embodiment. The second end of the cable may be larger than the recesses 304, 305 to prevent the second end from moving from side to side when the battery is attached, thereby allowing the cable to be wrapped around or through an object and then secured by the recesses.

In further embodiments, the second end may also be adapted to be locked using a locking device, such as a U-lock, a drop-in lock, or the like.

While several selected embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described, it should be understood that the invention is not limited to the described embodiments. Rather, it is to be understood that changes may be made in these embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the invention, the scope of which is defined in the claims and their equivalents.
